By Michael Gaffney (written in 3rd person, because that’s what Mike Gaffney is always accused of doing anyway)

From Masslive:

Former Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and his campaign committee have agreed to pay $80,000 to settle allegations that they violated campaign laws. In a disposition agreement Murray admitted “he did not exercise proper oversight to prevent two different public employees from soliciting campaign contributions on his behalf in connection with fundraising events in the Merrimack Valley and Worcester area,” according to the statement.  As a part of the settlement, Murray will refund the $50,000, and pay a penalty of $30,000, including $10,000 of his personal money, to the state….

Well good thing Tim Murray isn’t heading up a powerful political organization that takes in $500,000 in taxpayer grant money from the City of Worcester. After all, we wouldn’t want someone that has no business experience, lacks the ability to oversee employees, and was fined $80,000 for campaign violations, running a political organization.

Just kidding, he is the CEO of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce! And even more of a joke is that he makes $250,000 per year. Because everyone who resigns as Lt. Governor in disgrace, breaks the law by doing shady deals with corrupt Chelsea housing directors, and has to step down from a high level political role gets a raise, right? No corruption here. Even the Boston Globe called out his tall tale about being out at 5 AM in a state car that he crashed while “surveying the storm damage”:

“He’s the state official who crashed his car and his reputation on the highway of political ambition.”

Speaking of corruption….our City Manager Ed Augustus also pulls in $250,000 per year. Well, that is after his buddy Mayor Joe Petty pushed through an early contract extension that came with a nice raise. Well why not, he had such a moving PowerPoint presentation about how he was going to lead the city to better clear the roads this winter, which thus far has been a dismal failure. Even worse, Joe Petty tried to double his own salary as Mayor, a request that originally came from former Mayor and former McGovern personal assistant Joe O’Brien, but Councilor Michael Gaffney snatched away any hope of that happening. There was a time when it may have paid to be a friend of Congressman Jim McGovern, but that is slowly changing… just ask Councilor Sarai Rivera.

Anyway, Councilor Michael Gaffney called out the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, a multi-million dollar, politically connected, nonprofit with hundreds of members for being a political organization that receives taxpayer funds. They had engaged in campaign politics and sent out a mailer against City Councilor George Russell to bully him into voting their way. Paid for by Chamber funds, so that’s ok, right? It was a total failure and the Chamber got beat like Ronda Rousey in a fist fight on pay-per- view.

The obvious question is, would it be appropriate if the Republican Party was given taxpayer grant money from the City of Worcester to promote its political activities? Clearly anyone with at least one functioning synapse would say “no!” So, Tim Murray got mad and sent out the Worcester Chamber of Commerce media assassin, the guy from Leicester, the man with an initial for a first name, W. Stuart Loosemore, to issue this retort:

Wow, good thing W. Stuart Loosemore isn’t the General Council and Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Chamber. We wouldn’t wanna give someone like this a six-figure, do-nothing job, covering up for his friend’s corruption on Twitter:

Just kidding, of course he is! No idea what he makes, but I’m sure the minimum wage increase won’t affect his salary. You can’t pay enough for such wit and professionalism. Thankfully no one noticed his pandering to Mayor Joe Petty:

Well, he would have gotten away with it if not for that meddling Turtleboy!

And then the fun began with Michael Gaffney pointing out that he actually cut taxes for everyone while the Chamber did nothing. Pretty lame, boring political stuff…

https://twitter.com/mgaffneycc/status/816345331650662401

But W. Stuart Loosemore wasn’t having that and fired back launching a devastating counter punch, nearly leveling Michael Gaffney. But, Michael Gaffney threw a haymaker and W. Stuart Loosemore has not been heard from since.

God, you’re an idiot. The Chamber is a private, independent non profit, NOT tax payer funded.

Does he still have the use of a state-owned vehicle? For “official” purposes, of course.

I saw him at parties when he was Lt. Gov with not only a state car, but a DRIVER…cuz Timmy likes to tip them back rather than control himself. He used to come incognito like he was a celebrity….baseball hat tipped wayyyy down. LOL

I will ALWAYS vote for Mike Gaffney. (Hell, I’d even vote for him if he solicited campaign donations illegally, crashed a state vehicle in the wee hours of the morning rushing home from his girlfriend’s house, drove under the influence, or aborted a child in college.) I truly believe Mike Gaffney is FOR the residents and businesses of Worcester.

Again with the political BS? Let Gaffney fight his own battles, Why do you feel the need to chime in on this political posturing? If I didn’t know better, I would think that you are in his pocket!

Timmy the “Crash test dummy” is a bloated carp. You should see him as he backs his “sporty” black pick-up into his Worcester Chamber of Commerce designated parking space in the garage behind the 1974 coffin a/k/a the “Santender Tower.” He acts as though he is his own State Police Driver positioning himself for the quick get-away. Thimble dick actually backs. Never know when you might have to speed out to check the storm damage. That reminds me of one of the funniest Timmy-time experiences. There was actually a moment when some love level working stiff had the nerve to park in Timmy’s designated parking space. Instead of parking in one of the other 500 spaces and taking it up with management, the little troll actually parked his car behind the offending vehicle (blocking two other cars as well) and then went about his day not giving a flying fuck that his little entitled douche move caused headaches for everyone else trying to park their cars for a day of work. Fuck Tim Murray. The little tard is a good-for-nothing, rolodex carrying, do nothing that needs to go taunt fate with another early morning drive on an icy day.

I might even have a picture of Timmy’s vehicle blocking traffic. Like a child laying down in front of everyone so they have to trip over him to get by just so he can make his point.

Good old W. Stuart must be the expert on hit pieces. He quickly forgets how the Chamber of Commerce sent out a hit piece on George Russell. PLUS the Chamber is actively recruiting candidates to run against certain councilors i.e.; Bergman and King that supported lower taxes for residents. They are even stooping to bring back Joe “sanctuary city” O’Brien, Matt Wally and got another looser to run against Gary Rosen. Doug Arbetter was a dead last candidate a few years back for school committee.

The chamber is now the Hack Palace.

250 grand, knew it was about that. Way too much to be paid, in a small city. He left the state in semi-disgrace, not in a good way. If one looks at people like himself, that left in that way or in disgrace. They always hook-up with a high-paying job. This is basically, the same old, same old. 2017, cliques and connections still rule. Pitiful, but not a surprise.

TB, you do realize that Murray and Loosemore are paid to take those positions? That it is their job? They are SUPPOSED to be calling out people who want to raise taxes and regulations on Worcester businesses.

That one really hurt Turtleboy. I worked so hard on that presentation and I didn’t get a single “good job, Ed.” I’ve already started on this years. I went out and bought some colorful craft paper, glitter, crazy glue, and an origami for dummies book and that’s just the start! It will be so fabulous it may even get a Broadway run!

I grew up in Tatnuck Square, a year or two younger than Murray, Spellane and Rushton, but I went to the same Schools, Churches, Little Leagues, etc. that they did, I knew their siblings. I don’t have a single bad thing to say about them from those years. Maybe 10 or 15 years ago I realized that all three of these guys had done great for themselves without leaving Worcester, started rising in the political ranks, apparently all around solid citizens. I was optimistic that they would be a new generation of decent, rational people in City Government. Well, that didn’t last long. Spellane was a philanderer who pilfered his election funds, Rushton is a leftwing bonehead and a hack’s hack, and Murray completely shit away a political career because he’s a loser and a boozer. Three big “winners” from the ‘hood, and they all turned out to be jackasses.
