A bunch of people have shared and talked about this story about a teacher from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley. It’s about a teacher named Matt Morway, who is clearly very loved and admired by the thousands of students he’s positively impacted during his career. Here’s what he wrote on the Facebook machine:

That status has been shared over 1,500 times this past weekend. The comments alone tell you the type of difference this guy has clearly made in the lives of his students. Anyone who has played sports in Southern Worcester County is probably familiar with Mr. Morway. The fact that he’s lost 130 pounds and not used a sick day once in 12 years is insane. It shows how committed he is to his job and it once again shows that teachers are the unsung heroes amongst us.

Anyway, a former student has started this GoFundMe page to help Mr. Morway offset the expensive costs associated with the treatment he requires:

Hello Everyone my name is Garrett Mann, I am a graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School. One of the greatest teachers that I have ever had, Mr. Matt Morway has just announced that he is in need of a Kidney transplant in order to stay alive and continue to change the lives of the students at Shepherd Hill with his teaching. While Mr. Morway has asked only for our prayers and support, I feel inclined to do so much more for this great man, a man who has devoted his life to teaching and the betterment of our next generations. As I can imagine there are a lot of expenses that come along with this medical condition, if not just transportation to and from the doctors. I know first hand the impact that Mr. Morway has had on so many students throughout his teaching career and if we can give back to him to show him in some miniscule way the lasting impact he has had on us that would be amazing. You can go on Matt Morway’s Facebook to view his post and see first hand the comments of some of the people that he has helped during his career. A teacher who so selflessly made himself available to any and every student that needed him deserves to be shown truly how much his hard work has helped us grow as students and human being.

Once again here is the GoFundMeThe reason we crap on frivolous GoFundMe’s is because it makes people skeptical of all GoFundMe’s. But this is clearly the type of GoFundMe that the site was created for. Not only will the funds help someone in need who has earned it with his dedication to the community, but by sharing this we increase the chances that he’ll be able to find a kidney donor. Please consider.

P.S. This GoFundMe has been up for 12 hours and they’ve already come close to reaching their goal. Tells you everything you need to know about what kids think of him.

Continue your hard work. You must put one foot in front of the other no matter what. Trust me a day will come when you will doubt me. I have had two transplants in the last 20 years and spent nearly 8 years in between on hemo diaysis. Only the strong survive. Be positive! Your life will never be the same. You will appreciate life so much. It will happen. May your donor be found soon. God bless.
