Only in the era of Trump can Diamond and Silk be called to testify in front of congress to talk about Facebook censorship. But here we are, and that is exactly what happened today. And it was amazing! I’ve never seen so much sass in my life.
Here’s the whole video if you wanna watch it, but we’re gonna break down some things we like and some things we don’t like about it.
Once again the Republicans asked great questions, and the democrats showed up to disparage Diamond and Silk. The topic was censorship of conservatives on Facebook. Now I don’t think it’s an anti-conservative thing. I think in general liberals are more likely to be whiny pussies and thus are more likely to report shit they don’t like. It’s a numbers game really – the more you report, the more you take down. So yea, obviously conservatives will be more affected.
But what no one is addressing is that Facebook is the real problem here because they allow users to mass report anything they don’t like and have it removed. I’ve lost track of how many posts and pages we’ve had removed. In the last 48 hours we’ve had 3 Facebook pages unpublished, republished, unpublished again, and then republished. It’s quite clear that their entire system is one gigantic clusterfuck run by robots, which clearly don’t have political inclinations.
Let’s look at some of the highlights from various Congressmen and women….
Marsha Blackburn (R, Tennessee)
- “I had the ability to fight back, Diamond and Silk had the ability to fight back, but what about the thousands of others?”
Exactly. Diamond and Silk can get their shit fixed when they’re censored because they’re basically celebrities. What about the rest of the public? Da fuq are we supposed to do when our pages get shut down? There’s no phone number or email to call. If you’re a big shot then it gets Facebook’s attention, they claim they made a “mistake” and act like it’s an isolated incident. But in reality it happens to millions of people who don’t get their problem resolved.
Jim Himes (D, Connecticut)
- This is “politically convenient hoax that Facebook is hurting Diamond and Silk. Facebook publicly admitted their mistake.”
No, it’s not a hoax at all. Facebook went out of their way to give them this thing that we’ve gotten for years:
They make you invisible because people mass reported your page. Once again, Diamond and Silk can get that shit fixed real quick. No one else can. And please, spare me the “Facebook admitted their mistake” bullshit. The second they started courting businesses to open up business pages and market their companies using Facebook was the moment they no longer get to shrug their shoulders and say “oops.” This shit costs people money. Facebook is responsible for making sure it doesn’t happen, and to compensate people for the damages it causes them.
Four or five democrats also compared Fox News to Facebook. The argument goes as follows – we don’t tell Fox News to promote liberal content, why should Congress tell Facebook to promote conservative content?
Ummmm….because Fox News has competitors. Facebook does not. Facebook is a monopoly that 68% of the American people use on a daily basis. If you don’t like what you see on Fox News you can put on MSNBC or CNN. If you’re unhappy with Facebook where do you go? There is no viable alternative for a social media site with that number of people. And quite frankly Twitter is guilty of the same sort of censorship as Facebook just on a smaller scale. Considering the number of important announcements and news releases that take place on social media you can’t tell people they just shouldn’t use social media. It’s a public utility at this point.
The democrats repeatedly tried to paint Diamond and Silk as money hungry charlatans, starting with Hank Johnson (D, Georgia). Unfortunately for him Diamond and Silk brought a can of gasoline with them and lit him on fire:
“I’m shocked that this committee would allow you a platform to try to make more money.”
“Don’t try to make us feel guilty because we’re trying to use our platform to make money.”
I mean, how degrading is this? These women are running a legitimate business. They brought data with them to show all the traffic they’ve lost because of Facebook censoring them. And all these assholes can do is accuse them of putting on a taxpayer funded stunt? This is what happens when you’re outspoken, black, female, and conservative. You get attacked by hacks who claim to care about people who look like you, but only if you say the right things.
The reality is that democrats are happy with what Facebook is doing because they’re winning. Censoring people like Diamond and Silk only helps their chances in the next election.
Ted Deutch is a Florida democrat who represents Parkland. He’s also a moron:
- People are using the platform to attack the Parkland students – Hogg depicted as Hitler, Emma Gonzalez photoshopped picture ripping up the Constitution, truthers spread lies about no one dying and crisis actors.
Yup, that shit sucks. But that’s how free speech works. Dumb people say dumb things. Don’t like it? Block them. Are they committing a crime? Call the cops. Are they not committing a crime? Then move on with your life.
- “Is there a consideration of morality for tech companies whose platforms that are used to spread this garbage?”
Oh good, Congress wants to legislate morality. Their morality. The right morality.
- “Facebook has editorial responsibility to make sure manipulated images never appear.”
No they don’t. Does UPS have a responsibility to make sure edited pictures of David Hogg aren’t sent in their packages? Nope.
- Is it censorship to expect that these images be taken down the moment it appears?
Oh, poor David Hogg. He’s the real victim here. It’s not like he sent a mob after Laura Ingraham’s advertisers because she pointed out that he didn’t get into any colleges. If this guy had any idea what he was talking about he would know that David Hogg is the most protected person on the Internet. Just ask Turtleboy:
This guy’s overall mentality is what’s wrong with our discourse today. If you see a doctored picture of Emma Gonzalez and you don’t like it, then don’t look at it. There’s nothing illegal about it. Facebook has no responsibility to censor this crap the moment it appears. Because as you can see, Facebook clearly is not capable of accurately removing content from Facebook.
Diamond and Silk murdered Brooklyn congressman Hakeem Jeffries:
“Are you familiar with the money you were given for consulting by the Trump campaign?”
“I am familiar with the fact that you read fake news. It was a reimbursement, not a payment.”
WATCH: Even if you don't agree with them politically, you've gotta admit that Diamond and Silk laid the smack down when questioned if they only supported Trump for money. pic.twitter.com/wpibEv54cu

The fact that they’re trying to turn this into a campaign finance things because they got $1,200 reimbursed to them for shit they purchased with their money, is everything that is wrong with politics today. This asshole was clearly just trying get them in a “gotcha” situation, but he ended up getting got instead.
Loved this line too:
You, as an African- American are not gonna make us feel guilty. I don’t see you walking up to a white person and telling them not to monetize something.
Check your privilege bitch!
But by far the worst was California democrat Ted Lieu, who said it was “stupid and ridiculous” that they were even giving these woman a voice:
**DOUBLE STANDARD ALERT**
Ted Lieu calling the hearing with Diamond and Silk "stupid and ridiculous" is ONLY OK because he's on the left…
If he were a Republican (even though he's asian) there would be calls for his resignation due to racism and misogyny. pic.twitter.com/Z7pNGQZc0Z

Seriously. Imagine two black liberal women being told this and the Internet not getting woke as fuck. You can’t.
He said many dumb things:
- “These are private companies, they are not like UPS or Fed ex. They are like publishers, they are like the media.”
No, they’re not publishers. They’re not the media. They’re a platform where people share shit. They’re the public square. They make money off of all of us by selling our data to advertisers. We pay them for boosted posts.
- “The government should not be regulating this.”
Oh right. The government should only be regulating private companies when bakers don’t wanna make gay wedding cakes. I forgot how repulsed democrats are by the mere thought of government regulation.
The bottom line is Diamond and Silk killed these people today. They yelled, they didn’t take no bullshit, and they stood up for themselves. I just wish it wasn’t framed as a conservative-liberal thing because it only divides us when we should be looking for common sense solutions to make the real villain get their shit together – Facebook.
