Congratulations to William Rhines, you magnificent bastard. You are this year’s Turtleboy March Madness Bracket Champion!! William was the only one of the 42 entrants to have Villanova winning the championship (even though he didn’t need them to win that game since he already had it wrapped up). Here’s the final standings:
As you can see, Turtleboy finished right in the meaty part of the curve. Not showing off, not falling too far behind. And we lost two Final Four teams (including our champion West Virginia, and Seton Hall) on the very first day. Luckily everyone and their mother had Kansas in the Final Four and no one had Syracuse, so picking Nova to make the Championship Game paid dividends.
William wins a free Turtleboy Sports sweatshirt, and Matthew Lucier, Tim Granger, Chris M, and Corey Meyer all win Turtleboy t-shirts. Anyway, it was a fantastic tournament for the most part. The first two rounds were phenomonal. The Sweet 16 kind of sucked, and Notre Dame, Gonzaga, and Oregon all made for shitty games in the Elite 8. The Final Four was even worse. Probably the worst two Final Four matchups in the history of the tournament. Oklahoma was just happy to be there and Syracuse was the fakest Final Four team of all time.
But man, that has to be the greatest championship game of all time, right? North Carolina was COOKED. Done. Stick a fork in them. Down 10 points with under five minutes to play and they seemingly couldn’t stop Nova. But Brice Johnson and Marcus Paige were just too good. First Paige missed an easy layup but somehow through some sort of divine power he came up with his own rebound and put the ball in the hoop to get them within 3 with under a minute to go. Then, one of the most amazing shots in tournament history took place when UNC got the ball back, down 3:
Kris Jenkins' shot will live forever, but Marcus Paige's shot was every bit as incredible: https://t.co/cA5h8TjHfW https://t.co/Xrr7VSxPzX

Insane. Did anyone think that Nova had any shot after that? I mean, you’re not supposed to make shots like this:
It just seemed like it was in the cards after that. When you make a play like that you don’t end up losing the game. It just can’t happen. Unless you’re this guy:
But instead of Malcolm Butler doing the unthinkable, it was Kris Jenkins this time, with probably the ballsiest shot in Championship game history, and the only one to ever decide a game at the buzzer:
Those were the two best teams in the tournament, followed by Kansas. Couldn’t have been a more amazing game or tournament. Same time next year.

Philly is happy, for a change! Good for Villanova and their fans.
Congrats to the bracket masters this year.
