The Providence Journal: State Rep. Ramon Perez made an emotional plea for forgiveness on the House floor Tuesday, insisting that he is not the one who opened pornography on his computer.

“I am not a pervert. I made a big mistake of trusting too much in people,” he said. “I know people in here don’t believe me. They say that’s the excuse everybody makes. But I think it is a possibility because I don’t check that page … that stupid page.”

Perez made headlines last week after he passed out a document that showed open computer tabs with pornographic content.

The Providence Democrat brought a printout to the House Finance Committee meeting Wednesday night, when he testified on an automobile crash protection bill he sponsored. He passed out a screen grab, time stamped at 2:07 a.m., of a Wikipedia entry for the Puerto Rico Automobile Accident Compensation Administration. Several open tabs were visible with titles that referenced obscene material. One tab included the word “teen.”

Perez said it was not his intention to offend anyone and that he hopes his colleagues will give him a second chance.

“Just give me a chance and don’t judge me so quick,” he said. “It was an innocent mistake.”

Perez previously apologized on Facebook on Friday, before deleting his account.

Oopsie! Here is the top of the handout in question:

And Perez’s attempt, with about ten commas too many, to shift blame for the incident:

So, he’s going with the “I didn’t do nuffin'” defense. Personally, I don’t find that believable, but I’m not sure it matters because the damage is done.

I like how it was the last tab open. So some mysterious late night porn-troller was mid-spank at 2AM and suddenly remembered he forgot to screenshot that handout for the next day. It’s humorous except for the “teen” and “young” in the tab titles. If you’re gonna tug your pickle to the naughty sites, at least don’t make it creepier than it has to be. Also, don’t screenshot it for your big boy meeting the next day.

Is anyone else concerned with the fact that this guy was using Wikipedia as a reliable source? Also the fact that he’s using Puerto Rico as an example. Nothing against PR, but they do have a debt crisis to the tune of $120 billion, making them unable to afford basic necessities for many residents, sooo I think maybe we shouldn’t be using their government programs as a template.

A lot of the comments have to do with Perez’s Democratic affiliation. I don’t think his party membership has anything to do with this and focusing on that takes away from the story itself. I think it’s more concerning that a State Rep- from any political party- is half-assing the research and proposal of an official bill he’s sponsoring. I’ve spent more time researching paint colors than the time put into this proposed bill that could cost Rhode Island significant funds.

Lol, wow. I think the same thing when I see or hear people referencing Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. Ahaha!! You know, if he is THAT careless with his screenshots, what in Satan’s red-hot Hellfire should any sane citizen think about his carelessness with anything else…INCLUDING his business handling? This guy shouldn’t be in office, plain and simple.

I forgot to mention his completely shitty grammatical skill. That shit right there pisses me the fuck off to no end.

Wanna get away? Might want to take Southwest up on its offer.

I won’t shit on the guy for watching porn. But judging by his use of Wikipedia, terrible grammar, and utter lack of judgement – he probably shouldn’t be in charge of… anything.

I mean… just own it. Every guy watches porn. Shit I beat the bishop a couple of times a day when I have a day off from work. But I don’t hide from it.

Dude should have just said “Yeah, I’m like 90% of the male population in America, I watch porn. Is it really that big a deal?”

Okay, the picture was taken at 2:07am on an cellular-enabled iPad without a SIM card installed.

I could see where his explanation might be plausible — I’m guilty of not entirely proofreading things I’ve redistributed and made a few ‘oops’ in my day (haven’t we all?), but… its hard to miss all the safari tabs across the top. Okay, maybe if there were one tab out of nine to “hotmilfs.com” or some such site, I might buy his answer.. but damn, virtually every tab points to a porn site. Don’t tell me you’re not going to look at the tabs.

Of course, he has no option but to deny it was him actually surfing, since some of the sites seem to imply kiddy-porn (granted, 18 and 19 year olds are technically “teens” and “legal”). Methinks the RI State Police will be having quite the field day investigating this one… except the Colonel of the RISP is now a political hack appointed by Guvner Raimundy, so its going to boil down to how much he tows the progressive-socialist agenda.
