Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help. Please consider donating by hitting the PayPal button above if you’d like support free speech and what we do in the face of Silicon Valley censorship. Or just buy our award winning book about the dangers of censorship and rise of Turtleboy:
Saw this fundraiser posted to a couple local townie pages and thought it sounded a little bit…..off.
A family of 7, formerly of Millbury, who shall go unnamed, had their house burn down, and now we’re supposed to buy them Amazon gift cards and a bunch of other stuff this random woman from Shrewsbury put on a gift list. Oh, and of course she brings Chris Roy’s name into this, because she knows that will evoke emotions since he died in a Main South fire less than a week ago.
But a quick reverse image search of that fire brings you to this:
A fire in Wisconsin. Now, it could very well be that the family who lived in this house was originally from Millbury. So we looked into it and found out the homeowner’s name is Chris Mattison, and he has zero connection to Massachusetts.
We didn’t want to reach out to him because he’s a single father of five (meaning she lied about the family of 7 part of the story as well) who just lost everything. So we reached out to his sister instead.
Also, according to the article he is a single father of five. But here in the Amazon gift list she wants people to donate to she wants people to buy a desk, and specifically says that “both parents work from home.”
Now when I first sat down to write this blog it was intended to be a simple exposing of a local scam artist, capitalizing on the death of a firefighter to enrich herself. But upon further inspection the rabbit hole goes much, much deeper than that, and this is gonna have to be a multi-parter.
If you search Amanda Sullivan on the Millbury, Sutton, or I would assume many other townie pages, you get TONS of requests for what appear to be legitimate charities. (Editor’s Note – this woman does in fact organize some legitimate charities, which doesn’t change the fact that many of them are clearly not. One of those legitimate charities is the top one, which is a terrible story about a kid with cancer, organized by BAAK)
Often during these fundraisers she will either list first names, or no names at all, and claim to have blocked them on social media so they can’t see the fundraiser. Almost as if they may object to it if they saw it. Oh, and by the way, that list no longer exists anymore, as do most of her lists. They all disappear after a couple weeks.
Editor’s Note – we originally screenshotted a fundraiser which only showed first names, and seemed somewhat questionable for a fundraiser. Per the request of the family picture in the fundraiser we took it down, since they did not want to be associated with any of this. And since they did not choose to have this fundraiser done for them, we honored that request.
She also has two “service dogs” named Gunnar and Scout. Both have their own Facebook pages with over 10,000 followers, and are used to fundraise as well.
According to people who know her she said she was supposed to be training these dogs for veterans, as part of her organization Valiant Veterans.
Scout has seizures so he can’t be a service dog, and Gunnar’s marine never got out of the hospital so Amanda kept him. Luckily for her this woman training dogs for veterans coincidentally and suddenly needed special dogs for herself, and she brings these dogs EVERYWHERE. Even the hospital, where she would have no need for the support dogs.
Keep in mind, we just had a ballot question that was supposed to deal with understaffing in ER’s. And here is this woman, going to the ER, and forcing the nurses to take her two dogs for walks.
And she gets a LOT of media attention for these dogs.
Meet Corporal Gunnar Scott whose very name means Brave and Bold Warrior at the Live Life Family Day at Hebert Candy Mansion on Sunday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This valiant K-9 service dog named after a fallen Marine is a trained service dog with Valiant Veterans Organization. Gunnar is an honorary Marine Corporal for the impact he is already making in the lives of our service men and women.
Sunday’s event sponsored by Valiant Veterans and Massachusetts Vest-a-Dog, staring Corporal Gunner, to bring awareness and to celebrate first responders and Military families. The day will be filled with fun, food, music, games, other courageous K-9 Police dogs and their handlers, as well as demos, face painting, amazing raffle prizes and so much more. Of course, Gunnar will be available for photos ops.
Yet she’s never said who this marine who never got out of the hospital was, much like how she never mentions names in fundraisers. She even claimed that the Marines “made Gunnar an “Honorary Marine,” and was given the rank of Corporal by a US Marine Corps Reserve Lt. Colonel.”
Except according to this site, that researches fraud in service dogs, she made that all up too.
The woman that is allegedly training this puppy is Amanda Sullivan of Worcester, MA and she is not a legitimate service dog trainer. She claims to be training this puppy for TBI and PTSD for a “Marine” but she will not disclose this Marine’s name. She has no qualified experience as a dog trainer in any form. She is still fraudulently soliciting funds stating that the dog is a “Marine.”
This bogus civilian “Honorary Marine” certificate was allegedly given to this puppy by 4th Marine Division 1/25 Lt. Col. John Griffin. The only person that can give the title “Marine” is the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Sorry folks but that is the way it is. The title of “Marine is Earned. Not given.” Sullivan is crowd funding for training expenses, using the Eagle, Globe and Anchor and title Marine along with using MARPAT utility fabric and service uniform chevrons on an untrained puppy claiming the dog to be a “service dog” without permission from the United States Marine Corps. Amanda Sullivan is not a US Marine either.
Sullivan also has not made public that Gunnar was nominated by her for the American Hero Dog Awards as a “honorary Marine” further deceiving the public when in fact it had been withdrawn by Headquarters Marine Corps and the American Humane Association promptly removed any mention of it during the contest.
The Headquarters Marine Corps revoked the designation of “Honoray Marine” and they notified the Massachusetts Attorney General and the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards of Gunnar’s false Marine title designation. The Hero Dog Awards promptly removed any mention of Gunnar being a Marine during the 2014 contest.
In an e-mail dated March 22, 2014 from the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps Counsel Philip Greene: “Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It’s my understanding that the unit that issued the “honorary Marine” designation has been “educated” about how, and by whom, that honor is bestowed. Further, it’s my understanding that Ms. Sullivan has been informed that the designation has been withdrawn.”
Anyway, there’s a lot more to this, and the rabbit hole goes DEEP. We will be having a part 2 coming on this later, possibly today and if not tomorrow. Stay tuned.
