Sentinel and EnterpriseActing less than 24 hours after the House, the Senate on Thursday voted 31-9 in support of an $18 million package of pay raises for lawmakers, judges and constitutional officers, with Democratic leadership securing a veto-proof majority that all but assures the bill will become law even if Gov. Charlie Baker vetoes it.

The House passed its pay raise bill on a 116-44 vote and the Senate passed its proposal with three Democrats joining all six Republican senators in opposition. The Democrats voting against the bill were Sens. Anne Gobi, Michael Moore and Walter Timilty. Timilty declined to comment on his vote when approached outside the chamber, but Gobi, a Spencer Democrat, called her decision a “conscientious vote.”

“I just thought it was too much considering the situation many of the people in the commonwealth are going through,” Gobi told the News Service.

She was also carrying a copy of the letter she intends to send to Treasurer Deborah Goldberg declining the pay increase should it become law, and said he hoped her colleagues who also voted no would similarly not accept the raise.

“You can’t be hypocritical. If you vote no, you shouldn’t take the dough, so I won’t take the money,” Gobi said.

Legislative leaders worked behind the scenes over the winter on the pay raise bill before springing the topic into the public realm last Tuesday by calling for a hearing on Thursday on a two-year-old report on pay levels for public officials.

What a bunch of chum guzzlers. Here’s a list of the State Senators who voted no and yes on this one:

16387235_10100466254853507_8378719079841627814_n

Fast fact – 20 of the 31 senators who just voted to increase their own salary significantly voted against a very simple measure in May to spend $300,000 for bullet proof vests for cops. On the day of Ron Tarentino’s wake. Shameful.

That money would’ve been matched by the federal government, for another $300K. They couldn’t afford to pay for police officers to protect themselves in the line of duty, but they can pay themselves a gigantic raise. These people are pigs at a trough. They’re not just bad legislators. They’re awful human beings. Don’t let them get away with this. Here’s a list of State Senators. Find your’s, email them, call them, and let them know that you want YOUR taxpayer money to go to services your family can use, instead of going in their greedy pockets.

Props to the three democratic State Senators who had the minerals to cross party lines and do the people’s work. Two of them are from Central Mass (Gobi and Moore). These aren’t small raises either. It’s forty freaking percent!!! Who gets a 40% raise? Who gets to vote on their own salary without any sort of oversight or collective bargaining?

Oh yea, and the timing is certainly convenient. Ya know, because we just had a contentious election and now everyone’s distracted with talks about walls, and Trump saying crazy things about voter fraud and crowd sizes. Make no doubt about it – this was intentionally done in January because none of these assholes will be up for reelection for another 22 months. They  know a lot of shit will happen between now and then and people will forget about this.

Karen Spilka (Ashland), Harriette Chandler (Worcester), Stan Rosenberg (Amherst), Sonya Chang-Diaz (Boston), Jamie “captain planet” Eldridge (Acton), Jennifer Flanagan (Leominster) – every one of these greasehogs just voted to increase spending by $18 million a year. These are the same people who bitch and whine about not having enough money for services. They shit on successful people for not paying their “fair share” in taxes. But who can blame people who resist tax increases when this is what it’s going to?

These same dooshnozzles get paid per diem stipends for transportation, meals, and a shitload of other perks. We’d publicly shame all 115 State Reps who voted in favor of the pay raise, but there’s too many of them. Here’s a listYou should know how your representative voted. They’re spending your money. Nine democrats had the minerals to cross party lines and vote against this egregious and unwarranted raise.

John Mahoney. Fraud.

Jim O’Day. Fraud.

Dan Donahue. Fraud.

Mary Keefe. Fraud.

Natalie Higgins. Fraud.

Kate Campanale. Good shit.

Kim Ferguson. Good shit.

Peter Durant. Good shit.

Donnie Bethiaume. Good shit.

Paul Frost. Good shit.

Ironically the people who all voted for this raise are the ones who are always looking for new ways to waste your money. They’re the ones who resist any sort of attempt to reign in EBT abuse. They’re the ones who are always looking to spend more money on diversity training, chief diversity officers, and whatever other meaningless feel good bullshit that makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside. They’re the ones who are pushing for sanctuary cities, which will drastically increase the cost of public education, despite the fact that schools are underfunded as it is.

Check out how Sen. Eric Lesser, D-Longmeadow, justified the pay raise:

“I think given that it’s completely appropriate and reasonable to take a look at this and to adjust it,” he continued. “There’s certainly sticker shock, I appreciate that. But I think folks should know this wasn’t done in a hasty way. There are actually two reports going back 9 years to 2008 and another report done in 2014, both done independently and included bipartisan groups of experts.”

Lesser said he appreciates that others might disagree.

“But I think it’s important for good governance,” he said. “I actually view it as an important anti-corruption measure because there’s quite a lot in there including a ban on outside employment for the speaker and the senate president which is very important. So like everything there’s a compromise and building in incentives for doing more work and building in more transparency I think are good things.”

He views it as an “anti-corruption measure.” In other words, he is voting to give himself a raise so that he’ll be less likely to accept a bribe. Ya know, because he won’t need the cash anymore if he’s stealing from the taxpayers. This 31 year old dipshit who was JUST ELECTED voted to give himself a massive raise his first month on the job.

Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 11.22.03 PM

Governor Baker says he’s gonna veto it, which is nice. But they have the votes to override it. Just don’t forget this. The next time your school doesn’t have the resources it needs for your kid’s classroom, remember where it went. Because these chiselers couldn’t trust themselves not to be bribed.

The State Senator, Eric Lesser, pictured at the top of the article voted FOR the bulletproof vests. My source for this is the linked article about the vests. I would request that his image is removed.

Question – Where is Governor Chuck E Cheese Baker in all of this? Charles Duane “Charlie” Baker, Jr., who refused to support President Trump on the campaign trail and did not vote for him in November. Well there ‘Duane’, although you call yourself a Republican – you are anything but conservative. Sooo you are going to uselessly veto this bill huh? Nice piece of bullshit you are attempting to sell. No one is buying it Chuck E Cheese. You should have been on this from it’s inception and not letting the inmates run the asylum. That’s called politics. SUPPORT OUR POLICE! Where is your leadership ‘Duane’?

John Mahoney just sucks up to the Boston power players. Almost lost my lunch when I walked into a Boston restaurant for a late lunch and saw Mahoney with Mr. Speaker and a few other inside 128 yucking it up. The most dangerous place to be in the district is between Mahoney and a ribbon cutting.

I used to be a West Tatnuck resident (Harriet Chandler,) but I quickly moved out of Worcester. I now PROUDLY endorse Kim Ferguson. Thank you, Kim for graciously voting against a pay raise during these difficult economic times, and thank you for always supporting the residents of your district. You have filled the very big shoes of Lew Evangelidis with dignity and class.

Why do all you 01602ers who read this blog still support that hag, Chandler? She needs a pay raise, like you need a boil on your butt. Retire you geriatric beast! How DARE you all vote yourself a pay raise while the law enforcement that protects and serves you goes without new vests and another lay in his grave. SHAME ON YOU ALL! Everyone remember this come re-election time.

  • BobnMic
    January 27, 2017 at 3:37 am

Fucking wonderful. Man its sucks to be in a law enforcement career currently in Massachusetts and I am sure it’s not too much better across the country.

Dedicated to the men and women in blue everywhere:

Not only do you have the SJW brigade led by the Cop hating race baiting BLM terrorist group looking to murder you if you are a Cop – now you have the state government, who cut off educational incentives a few years back to law enforcement for higher educated Cops. Not a smart move no pun intended.

In addition to that madness the state is now fucking with LE’s safety with not supplying the proper equipment? Do these numbnuts at the state house read any sort of news? Cops are being assassinated everywhere in this country mostly by firearms for the love of God already. What next? Sorry Cops, you got to buy your own gun and your own cruiser for now on. Fucking disgusting. It really is.

Who would want that job right now? What kind of candidate pool are we looking at down the road? No educational incentive formally known as the “Quinn Bill” minus that resulting in guaranteed civil lawsuits and large settlements to be on the rise which vastly outweighs the costs of paying for educated Cops? Really? No seriously really? Where is the logic in that? This is happening for real right now people.

The state of Massachusetts also significantly watered down off duty road details for the safety of the public, law enforcement and the protection of utility workers being replaced by fluky flagmen. Flagmen. Who, when all is said and done, make roughly the same hourly rate with a stipend of hazardous pay for working in the street on top of their salaries. So where is the overall public safety concerns and cost savings for that brilliant idea. Not to mention in Worcester that 10% of ALL off duty Police details goes to the city’s general fund. Meaning not earmarked back to the Police. Those funds go to where the city deems necessary regarding all city services. ALL city services, schools, DPW, WFD, and WPD where so deemed appropriate by city hall. The city gets nothing from companies that prefer to use flagmen. So during the course of a single year the city makes somewhere in the vicinity ranging from a low of say $750,000 to over $1.2 million depending on the amount of construction needed. These were estimates I gathered more than five years ago so you can image them to higher now but I do not have those updated figures. This is just a rough idea of how we are being screwed.

Not many people are aware of this very fact and shame on the police unions for not selling that truth to the public.

Off duty road details – I’m not all big into graphs and charts as such but a real chart outlining a simple comprehensive breakdown of law enforcement initiatives encompassing everything that entails which to include first responder incidents. Compare the labor costs regarding the compensation of flagmen versus a Police Officer at a road construction detail would be a worthy chart. Simply put, what the fuck is a flagman going to do if some asshole barrels through a construction site because they don’t want to be slowed down? Answer – you all know the answer to that question.

It all comes to numbers (which everybody understands because it is your money at work) detailing the cost benefits of having Cops with associates, bachelors and masters degrees in Criminal Justice among other applicable majors throughout any respective P.D. in the commonwealth versus an increased cost regarding no formally educated Cops. That which have led to extremely large lawsuit settlements so that would not a bad chart either. Show the people where their money is going with regard to public safety and the personnel that perform those duties. Is that such a bad idea?

The Police Academy and yearly in-service training alone just isn’t enough in modern day policing in this country unfortunately there lawmakers and I hope you are all reading this and think.

Just ask Hector Pineiro. He makes a nice living off of that shit and I bet it’s similar with more Hector Pineiros across the country but the irony is that it can be controlled if not completely eradicated if governed properly and responsibly putting public safety as a priority. In this day and age is that such a dumb idea?

And let’s not talk about Human Resources kicking you to the curb if you get hurt in the performance of your duties labeling most injuries, in a generic letter form sent to your house, as a “Pre existing condition.” Ya ok, while wrestling that asshole who beat the shit out of his wife with subsequent injuries sustained by this officer resulting in a torn rotator cuff or a herniated disc. Even though we at HR have no medical background what. so. ever you are DENIED Injured on duty benefits (I.O.D.) so burn up all your sick time. Yup that is considered pre existing allright. Good call. Great job.

HR – That is another bitch for another day.

I think the only limits they have are on what they can earn doing jobs outside of the senate. Pretty sure they can give themselves raises to whatever level they want to. And they were already making like $175,000/yr when they just gave themselves this raise. Plus they get thousands back for their ‘living expenses’ travelling etc. AKA total bullshit
