Looking for something fun to do locally for Halloween? Wanna get scared locally by someone who isn’t a grown man driving around in public with a clown mask on? Then take a trip to Auburn to our friends at the Century Sportsman’s Club for their annual Haunted Hayride!!

I did one of these a few years back and Mrs. Turtleboy nearly crapped her pants. The Century Sportsman’s Club is on Rochdale Street near the Oxford and Leicester borders. It’s in the middle of nowhere and they’ve got 46 acres of land. Plenty to scare the crap out of you. This 2-for-1 event includes the hayride and spooky walk, which involves an up close and personal walk through a haunted maze in the woods. It’s the only thing scarier than a lineup of Ware mugshots.

It’s $18 for admission, but you can get $5 off if you bring a canned food to donate. All non-perishable donations go directly to Veterans Inc. of Worcester – a nationally recognized clinical model for treating homelessness among veterans. Programs they run include: case management, housing, employment and training, health and wellness, food pantries and clothing, and support services for veteran families. Learn more at veteransinc.org.

The funds from the ticket sales help the club with continued participation in Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife initiatives, wildlife and nature conservation efforts, adult and youth hunter education programs, and community support and welfare. Support the veterans, support the local Sportsman’s Club, and support Turtleboy Sports. This is a win-win for everyone.

Oh yea, and they have a liquor license so they sell booze there too. And that alone could lead to hilarious consequences. Even better. See ya down there

Thanks for the support. I’ve been volunteering here since I was 6 as my dad has been a member for 32 years. I’m the clown with the orange hair for the past 6 years.

I’ve been taking my three kids and grandkids to this event for over 15 years. Always lots of fun. They have the longest and most kid friendly hayride I’ve ever been on. Just the right amount of scary. This has become a must do Halloween family event every October.

Hey, I have never been… Is it age appropriate for an almost 4 year old? I’m assuming so if the hay ride is kid friendly, but what about the other stuff?

I have never heard about this until now. I’m trying to find info about ages, but I’m not coming up with much.

Every kid is different, it’s kind of ur call.. my daughter has been riding it since she was 2, personally I feel the walk is scarier. But it is for kids and kid friendly!

It all depends on the child and or the person. I have seen kids as young as 3 and as old as 60 laugh the whole ride and others scream and keep their eyes shut the whole time. Really all depends on the person. So either the people have a good time and are happy they went on it or they are scared out of their wits and are happy when its over. Bottom line is everyone leaves the Century Hayride and spooky walk happy. hope to see you this weekend.

How stunned am I to see my Company on TB! I’ve been doing employment and training for 2 years now, It’s great work (hard though, very hard). Any Veteran in need please call that 800 number, if you live in Westen Ma you’ll end up talking to the Springfield Office. Thanks AGAIN TB!

My kids love it. It has not been too scary for them even at 4.
