Talib Kweli’s Interview With CNN’s Don Lemon In Ferguson MO Mike Brown Protests Was A Giant Headache

So in Ferguson MO shit is really hitting the fan over the Mike Brown shooting. CNN’s Don Lemon had an interview with rapper Talib Kweli, and it made me want to jump off a bridge:

Holy shit that was painful. This entire conversation was one giant headache. It was like a married couple arguing over who the toilet seat being left up. They both could’ve handled that a million times better. First of all Don Lemon should’ve realized that he was dealing with a professional dumbass who clearly thinks he’s a lot smarter than he is. Just let him say the dumbass things he has to say, smile, nod, and then interview someone who knows what the fuck they’re talking about.

Why try arguing with this guy? Talib Kweli is not a rational human being. This is a guy whose sole agenda is to sell records about hating cops. He calls himself an “activist,” which is weird because he’s on record for NEVER VOTING. His “activism” almost always revolves around supporting convicted murderers like cop-killer Assata Shakur, who is currently a fugitive from justice in the freedom loving country of Cuba.

I have some friends who have tried convincing me that Talib Kweli and Mos Def are some sort of “intellectual” rappers. Giving these guys that crown is about on the same level as being called the hottest chick at Curves. When your competition is a bunch of dumbasses rapping about white tee shirts and their extensive shoe collections, any sort of sentence will do I guess. Here’s some particularly inspiring stuff he’s written:

Yo i’m in the back room makin a run
Ain’t even touched her n makin her cum
N you can catch me out in Portland we startin mine
Everybody doin shows but i’m the hottest flyin’
Bitches say honest, I swear to God
So how come then believin them is so damn hard
Could you really blame a nigga if you fucked a skate
You ain’t even pay that’s why you flunked today
All you heard was he sellin talk shit about niggas and drink wine
And your answer kept changin cos bitch you keep lyin’
Talkin bout ‘he make me sick
All he do is disrespect me keep callin me bitch
And he only wanna fuck me when he all for that dough’
What the fuck you think i’m here for not to love you I hope
All i’m bout to do is listen for a minute
While I get my drink in

Deep shit right there. This guy’s clearly going down in history with James Brown and Sam Cooke.

Here’s some of the other gems from this interview:

“we live in a world that is run by white supremacy.”

Right, totally. Except for that black guy we elected president. Twice.

“the narrative and language of the oppressors is taking over.”

Translation: I learned a few big words after watching Malcolm X. I am smart now.

“We don’t have to have an interview.”

Fine, get the fuck out of here. You’re a dumbass rapper who likes to hear his own voice. You know nothing about anything and provide zero insight. You hate cops, particularly white ones. We get it. Please, don’t leave this interview – then we’ll never know what really happened to Mike Brown.

“You on the phone the whole time, you asked how to pronounce my name. You have no respect for who I am, so let me finish what I have to say.”

You mean he didn’t want to screw up and mispronounce your name on national television? That’s some disrespectful shit right there. Obviously Don Lemon should’ve hung up on his bosses at the mere sight of this legend amongst us.

This interview was like trying to have a conversation with your crazy ex girlfriend. “Can I finish? Let me finish!!” So yea, for that reason I blame Don Lemon more than Talib Kweli for this. Lemon is a professional. Talib Kweli is a professional dooshnozzle. Let him have his nonsensical rant and make him feel like he’s making a difference. Then go back to interviewing people that matter.

Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

Doesn’t it seems a bit fitting that a bunch of people protesting “injustice” by burning down their own neighborhood are represented by an “intellectual rapper?”
