This is the flyer Mayor Joe Petty is passing around as he knocks on doors of people he refers to as “morons” when he doesn’t know his microphone is on:

Notice, “we have invested millions of dollar in our streets, sidewalks, and parks.”

So lets go over to Sarai Rivera’s District 4 to a neighborhood park for children called Cookson Park to see what “millions of dollars” of investment in parks looks like under Mayor Moron:

As you can see the park is clearly well maintained and the weeds and shrubs have been cut by the parks department.

And what kind of fun park for children aged 2-5 wouldn’t have a broken down grill just chillin there?

Just imagine how much fun kids could have on this……thing:

If they ever get tired of being covered in ticks as they wade through the tall grass while enjoying their youth, they can move onto the swingset, which is of course missing swings:

But as long as they can imagine the swings being there they can have a great time. It’s all part of growing up in the Woo.

After that it’s on to the sandbox for some more priceless memories!!

What kind of child’s sandbox isn’t covered in weeds and maple leaves?

Finally children can go and sit on the bench to nowhere.

Where they can stare at the impromptu junkie firepit:

Yay!!!

This park is on College Hill and is typical of what Worcester has become under Sarai Rivera and Joe Petty’s reign of terror, which began in 2011. It’s gotten substantially worse and nothing gets better because they are too busy holding fundraisers and cutting ribbons to get around to making Worcester actually be a livable place for taxpaying residents.

Meanwhile here is what Councilor Michael Gaffney, and Sarai Rivera’s opponent Coreen Gaffney were doing instead of ribbon cutting (before and after pictures):

Cleaning up Main South. This is what real leadership looks like. Sure, it’s not gonna result in donations to their campaign, but it actually does something to make Worcester a decent place to live. When your neighborhood looks like shit you’re gonna treat it like shit. Perhaps under new leadership the city can start investing those millions of dollars towards programs that will actually make Worcester look slightly less crappy. Just sayin.

Won’t see those pics or an article praising Gaffney in the T&G, though. Fucking liberal rag.

  • No playground for kids in Worcester

Lets not forget the playground in Green hill park, to which the slides have been boarding up for the last few years….all the while DPW offices are right up the road. But lets build a new playground near Lakeside to get spray painted and destroyed.

could not take it in Worcester any longer! And I lived at Newton Square ! Sold the house, the city has tuned into a cesspool. I have always loved Worcester, but I do not recognize it anymore. Happy to be in a pretty place in Florida.

Not sure some obscure park is representative of all parks.

Anyone letting their kids play in the syringe and condom covered playgrounds and parks or in the cat-shit sandbox is a crazy head!

Petty and Titi Ho don’t care about the taxpayers, because they only care about the welfare leeches who make up their voting base.

Petty = typical lib bullshitter, hypocrite, special interest sycophant
Gaffney = blunt, honest, hard worker, doesn’t owe anyone

What specifically is BS here? I mean besides your vapid comment?

There is a Greenwood Park, but it’s not directly on Greenwood St. It’s set back a bit from the road, and used to have a pool back when the city had those in the parks.

Guaranteed, when the city sees this. A clean up of those parks will begin. This will be temporary of course, couple of months at best.

I don’t see the problem. That playground looks like an upscale neighborhood in my homeland, Guatemala. You are practicing cultural discrimination by not allowing us to have a fire pit, just like home, to cook our pigeon dinners.

  • Seriously?

Cookson Park has it’s own wordpress website that shows some older pics of a nicely mulched ground where that jungle is now. It’s dated from March 2010 at the bottom of the page. I’ll bet that’s the last time it saw any maintenance.

the best thing they could do with that gas jug is fill it and burn the city down. Worcester is a pit.

A few years ago, the Obama administration floated the idea of bulldozing entire neighborhoods in urban centers as a cost-cutting measure (people would move to more densely populated neighborhoods, city services such as police could be reduced to cover a smaller geographic area, and the open space would be available for industry).

I wrote to HUD and recommended they start by bulldozing the cities of Springfield, Worcester, and New Bedford. Its not like anyone would miss them.

Well, you lost me at race war but you just sucked me back in.

As a side note, who are these investors pouring all this money into the newest version of downtown? Who the fuck is going to move into a “luxury apartment” (studio mind you) for $1800/month on the corner of pleasant and main?

Gee, Seems like everything they have built/developed is 100% occupied! Don’t let facts get in the way of a useless rant though!!!

Cookson Field! I lived on Heath St., from 1978-1999 and that park was never, not once, a nice area to play. I think I only saw one (1) swing on that swing set in 21 years of living there. Cookson was a great place for my keg parties back in the late 90’s haha. It would be a great park for the neighborhood if was ever cleaned up.

Cookson field, named after Worcester’s last GOP Mayor Walter Cookson (served 6 months in 1936 before dying of a heart attack).

Actions (or lack thereof) speak louder than words. This should tell voters what they need to know.

What’s going on with that new playground on Mill Street that’s been almost finished forever? Is it even public? If so maybe the city should try to push that one over the finish line before we head into winter again.
