Read about suspect Jorge Zambrano’s criminal background here

Today has been the most intense day in the history of Worcester County. It was our Watertown as the police tracked down cop killer Jorge Zambrano. At 5:45 we were received word via the scanner that the suspect was dead. This turned out to be false. Luckily 30 minutes later at 6:15 we received word from multiple police officers that the suspect was dead. Unfortunately we also received word that he shot a state trooper in the process. However, the trooper was able to walk to the stretcher and reports indicate that the wounds are not life threatening.

It was revealed in the early afternoon that Jorge Zambrano was holed up in a house in the Rochdale section of Leicester, on the Oxford town line, only a few miles from where Auburn Police Officer and father Ron Tarentino Jr. was murdered in cold blood. Before we go any further we would like to express our sincerest condolences to his family and to the Auburn Police Department. This must feel like a nightmare.

As you can see from the traffic map of the area, the police set up a perimeter around Watch Street, in Rochdale. We don’t know if he lived there, but that’s where they found him.

The people of Rochdale have been stuck in their homes all day and many of them have been sending us pictures and videos from the standoff. We’ve been getting conflicting reports all day long about whether or not the suspect is alive. It’s been an insane roller coaster ride. The most credible version of events comes from a neighbor who lives directly lives directly across the street from the house where Jorge Zambrano is holed up. Here’s a video of the state police  telling them they’ll call him “Jor-hay” or “Jorge” or whatever he wants. He also makes reference to “another guy in the house” who heard him.

Then there’s this video where the negotiator tells him that they’re not there by accident and assures him that he will be treated OK if he surrenders. Notice the windows are all broken. Witnesses say that tear gas was shot inside the house and people suspect he could be in the basement.

Then there’s this video where the negotiator calls him “dude,” and mentions that Jorge has called his twin brother during this standoff on the phone. He urges Jorge to “think about him,” so he can tell his side of the story.

This one is pretty intense. The negotiator tells him to think about his daughter, mother, and brother, whom he names. He even mentions the brother trying to get to Leicester from 1,000 miles away.

Finally there was this video where the negotiator tells him that he “thinks you’re hidden really nice, but you’re not,” as police clearly are narrowing in on the basement. He makes repeated mention to the fact that the “dog’s in the house,” and that the “dog will find you.”

We’ll have a lot more on this as we go along. There will be lots more to talk about as this as more information comes along. In the meantime, here’s some more stuff we got from turtle riders as events unfolded today:

The DA’s office is investigating the use of deadly force by the Mass State police in this incident…i certainly hope this is just standard operating procedure. As far as i am concerned, they did the job with the perfect amount force. A dead shitbag….enough said

Standard procedure. Nothing will come of it. It’s like putting air fresher in a bathroom after you shit, it does nothing to hide the stench but you do it anyway.

I could never in a million years think force was excessive in this case. They did what they had to do, and rightfully so.

Why did he get a “Continued without a finding” from Judge Andrew L. Mandell (from T&G) while having such a long criminal record??? It make so sense! I believe this judge was a Celluci appointee. So disappointing……..

Well said Fiesty. Well thought out and right to the point and very respectable and accurate. You may change my opinion of you even though I still want you to get healthy regardless, I still think you and your pal are a colossal pain in the ass.

This is absolutely one of the most avoidable tragedies I have read in a long while. This man should have been locked up and the key should have been thrown away. A career criminal with an extensive record out walking the streets. Compare his record to the amount of years he actually served…. It is disheartening.

There are so many people to blame. His attorney is one of them. I hope he/she doesn’t sleep easy tonight. There is a wife, 3 kids, several family members, and officers in pain and mourning tonight because of you. I hope the Judge is ridden with nightmares for a very long time as well.

It’s pains me to know that while his attorney and the judge are sleeping tonight with the ones they love, this officers wife is feeling an immense amount of pain. The justice system has failed once again. It’s the reason I refuse to be a defense attorney. No amount of money in the world could ever make me defend a career criminal knowing a situation like this could (and obviously has) happened. How do they do it? I would be haunted in my dreams if I were him/her. I remember for a very short time I had to take on a few cases for a defense attorney who was swamped. I was so unhappy and disgusted with the work I had to do. I would be miserable every morning and it truly affected my personal life to the point I quit that position and it rendered me unemployed for a little while. My only thought during most of my work days is how I felt just as guilty as the criminal…. and I was, at least that is my opinion. Never again…. NEVER.

My deep condolences to his wife and 3 children, all of his family, as well as his police brothers and sisters.

    This is utterly heart breaking.

    • Lawyer... sure you are
      May 23, 2016 at 7:19 am

I really question any lawyer who is reading TB, and posting in the blog comments for attention.

You are blaming his lawyer? WTF? Someone has to defend this punk and the rest of his kind. As an American, you should probably know that innocent until proven guilty is the way our justice system works.

The ADA’s and the judges are partly to blame. But it’s the citizens who vote liberal, or who don’t vote at all, that are truly to blame.

Yes, I blame all of you. Those who don’t vote. THIS IS YOUR FAULT. Those who don’t research a candidate and their position on crime and punishment, THIS IS YOUR FAULT. Those who refuse to pay more taxes to build prisons and beef-up our police forces, THIS IS YOUR FAULT.

      • FiestyLawyerLady
        May 23, 2016 at 7:46 am

If I posted here for attention I would use a profile picture. I get enough attention offline, don’t need to seek it here.

There are also people here who know me personally. There are also 2 people who found me on Facebook after I posted on TBS facebook page. Clearly, my occupation as “Lawyer and Mommy” was changed back many years ago on Facebook. So unless 134 friends and family are also lying with me, then its safe to say I am who I am. Amazing how people put lawyers on some pedestal and expect us to be professional even in our personal lives. ALERT: We are NORMAL people who live NORMAL lives.

I prefer to be down to earth and mingle with everyday people. Some lawyers like to be pretentious and talk like they are in court all day long. No thanks, I don’t bring my work home with me.

I have my opinion on the subject matter and you have yours, get over it.

        • A bad lawyer obviiously
          May 24, 2016 at 7:57 am

A lawyer lady with a vocabulary of bad words. Your parents must be proud of you. I don’t think lawyers should be held high on a pedestal or not be normal people. But they should be professional. And courteous.

Most lawyers I know are hard working, busy, successful folks. They don’t have time to comment multiple times a day on blogs, nor do they care to.

Congrats on getting your law degree at QCC.

People I do not even know where to begin with this one. I have been glued to the local news all day in shock and sorrow. As you regulars know that read my comments – I am 110% Law Enforcement at all levels meaning Local, State, Federal and Military.

On this day, the various Law Enforcement agencies on sight from Auburn to Oxford Massachusetts coordinated an effort to neutralize the threat in the only manner that they could do using deadly force in a manner as trained with regard to a uniformed force continuum set of standards for the shooting of two Police Officers. The actual details of that will not be released currently following subsequent inquires.

Auburn Police Officer and father Ronald Tarentino was shot and killed. A Massachusetts State Trooper, whose name has been not been released, was shot and it is believed that that was not life threatening. God speed to these brave men and women in Law Enforcement.

It appears cop killers haven’t realized that if you choose to kill cops, they will expend their resourses to eventually find you and if circumstances dictate, kill you in the name of their slain brother or sisters. I can attest the men and wowen in our military felt the same when afforded the opportunity. To our law enforcement, thank you for all that you do and continue the good fight in these trying times. I expect it is not an easy time to be police officer and will probably only get harder. Remember there are many people still in this world, society and our communities that still support and believe in you. Could you imagine a society without police, just anarchy and chaos. My Condolences to the fallen officer, his family and law enforcement community.

No, we blame the system for him being out of prison and not holding him accountable for his actions. Law abiding citizens are tired of the same scumbags always getting off because of plea deals and judges not doing their jobs.

Hi stalker. Why bring your bullshit on to a post like this? You want to fuck around and follow me, fine… but not on any of the posts that have to do with this awful tragedy.

I may be vulgar, I may say things that aren’t classy… but I am an adult and would never take this opportunity to attempt to cause trouble on a blog. You have to grow up and show respect to the fallen officer and his family by at least being mature enough to keep your shit in another article.

Can’t wait for the T&G and television media to interview the cop killers family and associated baby mamas, girlfriends, friends, acquaintances, etc… More than likely, a poor soul who never got enough hugs or chocolate chip cookies from mommy and an aspiring rapper who was just thinking of getting his GED and attending barber school. All for his kids you know. Makes me want to puke coat
hangers. At least his death will save us taxpayers the cost of a trial, lifetime housing, and paying for a top notch attorney to plead the murder down to manslaughter. I left this on the other article and I’ll leave it here too. Feel free to add to the list of scum bags in the Massachusetts legal system that need to be called out and held accountable for garbage like this.

Judge Andrew L. Mandell had the opportunity to meet Jorge first hand back in April, and saw fit to let him walk out of a courtroom on the laundry list of charges below. I sure hope he gets a good night’s sleep because the Turtleriders have an excellent opportunity to make this an extremely long week for him….
Jorge A. Zambrano, 35, of 25 Queen St., Worcester, charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license, continued without a finding for 1 year, ordered to pay $100 victim witness fee.

    • UsualSuspect
      UsualSuspect
      May 22, 2016 at 9:07 pm

Andrew Mandell, just another shitbag judge that can’t put criminals away. The lawyers that plea these shitbags cases down and the DA that accepts the plea deal are also to blame. This POS should have never seen the light of day again, let alone kill a police officer. All involved in that April case should resign and spend the next 6 months thinking about consequences of their actions. When will the courts learn!

Thank you to the officer that fatally wounded Jorge the criminal shitbag; he might have gotten off on a technicality in Worcester Superior Court since he was obviously on a first name basis with some of them as evidenced by his prior sentences and the fact that he never served a full sentence.

    May 22, 2016 at 8:24 pm

Very strong work by the entire MSP specifically the STOP Team.

However let’s not get melodramatic and go over the top.

This was not Central Mass’ Watertown. Nowhere even close. Did it suck for a few people in the neighborhood? Yeah. The Staties and locals had this narrowed down fairly early and set up a perimeter. These types of operations happen every couple weeks or so, they just don’t get the press because the originating crime is so heinous.

Also don’t get too caught up with yourself. For someone who professes to be so pro law enforcement, tweeting out videos DURING a STOP Team operation is irresponsible. Yes, they had him surrounded, yes it was in a fairly confined area, but giving any intel whatsoever to the bad guys is very poor.

After all, we’ve seen by some of the responses to your other blogs that associated scum of the dead cop killer were trying to stick up for each other.

This is not a good day. It’s not even a tie score. But to try and portray it as ‘the worst day evuh’ is a bit much.

    • ProfessorM
      May 22, 2016 at 8:35 pm

So, what you are saying is… That while this whole swat team operation was going on, tear gas was being let off, police dogs were being let in….. That the piece of shit garbage loser, was in his basement following turtleboy sports tweets?

      • Non Sequitor
        May 22, 2016 at 9:06 pm

What I’m saying is that it’s not out of the realm of possibility that other piece of shit scum are texting him saying ‘You’re fucking surrounded. They’re wearing green camo with helmets and military body armor. They’re around the basement window. Take out as many as you can.”

If you think there’s no way that can happen, then you’re fooling yourself. Bad guys get intel, too.

        • ProfessorM
          May 22, 2016 at 9:14 pm

And I am pretty sure that anything he got texted by someone who may have been following TB, would have been inconsequential considering it was all over every channel in Massachusetts. It sounds like you want to blame TB because you don’t like TB.
