I was skimming through Worcester Magazine this morning and I read a little blurb in the Worcesteria section that literally made me spit my coffee all over Turtleboy Jr. It’s written by a guy named Tom Quinn, and it’s one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while. Enjoy:

“The materials distributed by the city for the U.S. Department of Justice’s race discussions are available on the city’s website, but what about the handouts random people spread around during Monday’s Media and Social Network session? The only way to get your hands on one of them was to attend the session, or rely on media reports of what the mystery flyers said. And as attendees at the session pointed out, the media picks and chooses what information to report as part of an implicitly racist plot to pander to readers and sell advertising. That being said, here is the broadest view of the two handouts. The purple handout was, I think, about mainstream media, and looked like someone dared a philosophy major to write a paper that was technically English without actually being readable by the average American adult. The white handout was about a local blog that nearly everyone at the session agreed was racist and belligerent, but they seemed to read it religiously anyway. Both were much more entertaining than the officially sanctioned handouts, and were only slightly less informative.”

See that? That’s what normal, non-partisan, non-affiliated, unbiased people think about this shitshow. It’s also satire at it’s finest. “as attendees point out, media picks and chooses what information to report as part of an implicitly racist plot to pander to readers and sell advertising.” This was ACTUALLY asserted at the meeting the other night. It’s just such a stupid, stupid thing to say.

I loved this part:

The purple handout was, I think, about mainstream media, and looked like someone dared a philosophy major to write a paper that was technically English without actually being readable by the average American adult.

LOL. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Tip of the cap to Tom Quinn over at WoMag. The best part though was this line:

The white handout was about a local blog that nearly everyone at the session agreed was racist and belligerent, but they seemed to read it religiously anyway.

LOL. Well done Tom Quinn. Well done. That about says it all doesn’t it? These people hate Turtleboy Sports so much, yet they keep making the same conscious decision MULTIPLE times per day, to not only click on our blogs, but to give them MORE attention.

Then, to make matters even better for Turtleboy, they start with their “boycott” of small businesses, because this is what terrorists do when they’re losing. They attack innocent people who have committed the unspeakable crime of participating in commerce. They apparently think the boycott is working though:

I really, really want whatever these hippies are smoking. Because they’re all living in some alternate universe than the rest of us. Ummm, businesses pull ads all the time. That’s how advertising works. Clients don’t last forever. Some toss an ad up there for a month or two as part of an ad campaign. Others just don’t have the budget to advertise all year round. But as you can say, we’ve almost doubled the amount of new sponsors on this site since the boycott began. So yea, cool boycott bro.

The best part was that RBG seems surprised that small businesses that him and his fantastic friends are harassing were “rude in their response.” LOL. What did you expect? You’re bothering people. That’s what you’re all about. Do you not get that? You’re bothering innocent people who are trying to run a business and consequently feed their families. That’s why you blocked traffic on Kelley Square and scared the shit out of an innocent truck driver who had the audacity to work that day instead of sit around commemorating about a kid who got shot by a cop 1,500 miles away. Because bothering innocent people is what you do. And you gotta be a special kind of hippie to think that these people are going to be polite and cordial with you in return.

The best comment we saw on the Communities United Collective Facebook page was this one:

Seriously, where do they get this good shit they’re smoking? How out to lunch does one have to be to think that a private business has to open up their accounting books for RBG? Seriously, does he honestly believe that he can stroll into Shaw’s and ask to see their bank financial records from Quarter 1? Does he honestly believe he has the right to waltz into a McDonald’s and demand to see how much each of their employees was paid that week? Our accounting department cleared this up for him:

First, it is a for-profit taxable entity. As such, it is entitled to privacy. Checks written and payroll costs are not a matter of public record like they are for a nonprofit or a city. Their tax returns are not made public. It is an LLC which is treated like a partnership. The only person required to be disclosed is the manager (who may not even be a partner). The partner/owners names are not a matter of public record. In a partnership, partners get the earnings out through a draw or distribution, which is not payroll and not subject to payroll taxes or reporting. They just have to pick up their share of the partnership earnings on their individual tax returns. So partners may be getting “paid,” but it’s not payroll. It’s a return on their investment. Finally, yes…several people have volunteered to write a blog without pay. People like to say what’s on their minds and have found a venue to do that.

The bottom line is, they think that when they read something they don’t like, their only recourse is to harass innocent people. John Stewart put it best on his show the other night:

“You don’t have the right to speak without consequence or put back. They think they have the right to not be offended. There is no such right!!”

Hey hippies, he’s talking about you. You all say some wacky stuff sometimes, which makes unbiased media members like Tom Quinn, say, “What the f….?” And then you expect everyone else to just keep our rational thoughts to ourselves when you insult the Worcester Police and Worcester Public School teachers? Yea, that’s not gonna happen. But at least you’ve got this guy on your side:

Quinn writes some great stuff. I follow his blog every week and after every City Council meeting. Some subtle gems in them from time to time

If you post any reasonable thought or use logic to refute any of their claims / positions, you will get radio silence. They won’t admit that you are right and they are wrong, they won’t agree to disagree, and they clearly don’t have enough followers to “get each other’s back”. Biggest waste of time ever trying to make sense with that organization.

No, they don’t go silent. They resort to childish insults. If you start throwing out studies backed by actual, substantiated evidence proving your point, they just call you a moron and claim your facts are biased. JeffboySpurts is the biggest culprit here.
