The only thing better than the stories on the Worcester Police Department’s Facebook page are the comments that follow it. Here’s a story about a local honors student who was busted on Hollywood Street with an unregistered hand gun:
Thank God we have strict gun laws in Massachusetts. Wouldn’t want criminals to get their hands on any weapons!! Now if we were serious about getting bad guys off the streets and deterring the illegal use of firearms, then the judge in this man’s case would put him behind bars for a long time. But since we’re living in the magical land of a thousand chances, I think we can all agree that he’ll be back at his cubicle job by tomorrow.
Anyway, the commentary went exactly as expected. Normally you’d be flooded with people making really strong points, such as “free my boi.” But they’ve also come out with new arguments, such as “free the young bull.” And if you’re not convinced by that, then maybe a couple 100 emojis could sway your opinion on the matter:
So many strong points being made. I feel like I’m learning an entirely new language.
Sometimes I feel like I need an ebonics to English dictionary on Facebook.
So let me get this straight. A 19 year old kid (who just so happens to be black) is caught with an illegal firearm. His homefries are out in force tossing around the 100 emoji and threatening people who disagree with them. And this leads Vanessa to state that she should be scared of all white people. That seems like a perfectly logical conclusion to reach.
And of course no posting about a criminal with an illegal gun would be complete if a social justice warrior didn’t talk about how he was just about to turn his life around:
Newslfash Junito-Betsy – he didn’t get caught up with the wrong crowd. He IS the wrong crowd. But please, tell me more about how he was just about to finish up his GED and open his own barbershop. That’s usually how this song and dance goes right?
True that. Never thought of it that way.
Anyway, Hillary Clinton just got let off the hook by the FBI, so I guess they have a point about white people getting away with shit. #FreeMyGirl
