The University of Missouri story is all anyone’s talking about recently. Today everyone discovered that the evil journalism professor lady from the now viral video is a UMass-Amherst graduate. We knew that yesterday when we reported it. But another campus PC patrol that has lost its collective mind are the morons at Yale. In case you haven’t heard, “Yale has recently endured a firestorm of protest after a lecturer that presides over one of the undergraduate colleges questioned whether concerns about the offensiveness of Halloween costumes had gone too far in impinging on free speech.”

The lecturer’s name is Erika Christakis. She wrote a really well thought out email about why people shouldn’t get mad at other people’s Halloween costumes. She didn’t defend blackface or anything like that. She just thought it was kind of….FASCIST to tell people they can’t dress up as Indians or or other “culturally insensitive” costumes for Halloween. She addressed the dangerousness of telling other people what costumes they can and cannot wear:

If you don’t like a costume someone is wearing, look away, or tell them you are offended. Talk to each other. Free speech and the ability to tolerate offence are the hallmarks of a free and open society.

I think we can all agree with that can’t we? Oh wait, we’re living in 2015 so we have to consult entitled college buttnuts who think they know everything first. And as it turns out this offends them so they have demanded that she be fired. Because 18 year olds have the right to make demands about people’s livelihoods.

unnamed-2

As it turns out her husband Nicholas is also a professor at Yale. Now it’s important to note that both he and his wife are left-leaning defenders of free speech. They are consistent if not anything, and thus he had no problem with the email that his wife sent. Consequently HE has now become the target of the PC patrol on campus. They have demanded that he resign as well.

Ya got that? A man has to resign because he defended his wife’s harmless email that was 100% true and everyone with common sense agrees with. It just shows how out of touch with reality these poopsmoochers are. They’re all 18-22 years old, so none of them are married. If they were they would know that more than ANYTHING in the world, you NEVER fuck with your wife like that. Because being married takes a lot of work. It means biting your tongue sometimes when you disagree with your spouse. It means respecting one another. It means avoiding fights whenever possible. It means not being selfish. It means not selling them out to appease a bunch of bratty, entitled kids. These are things these idiots know nothing about. So even if he did disagree with his wife, he’s under NO obligation to publicly condemn her.

Anyway, Nicholas has a big heart and wanted to let his students know that he’s against racism too, he’s just standing up for free speech, the same thing they were doing by protesting his wife. What happened next is shocking, disturbing, and at the same time hilarious:

To recap that 1 minute and 22 seconds, as soon as he gets there the first thing they do is tell him to walk away. Because why would they want to waste their time hearing another person’s perspective? Then at the 10 second mark the princess yells at him to “BE QUIET” when he attempts to explain himself.

At the 15 second mark she tells him that, “It’s your job to create a place of comfort for the students who live here.”

Wait……what??? What planet am I living on where it’s the professor’s job to make you feel comfortable? What kind of first world bullshit is this? Oh, I’m sorry, did my wife’s free speech make you feel uncomfortable? Let me get you a pillow and a bag of ice so you can recover from your self-inflicted butthurt. LOL. Don’t tell these kids that the last guy to call out college kids and their over sensitive butthurt was……Obama

But he doesn’t say that. Instead he goes the respectful route and tells her that he simply disagrees. Wrong answer:

“Why the fuck did you accept the position?! Who the fuck hired you?! You should step down! It is NOT about creating an intellectual space.”

I don’t agree with you. Therefore I am going to swear at you, disrespect you, and tell you you should step down from your job. Because that’s how the real world works. She seems like a rational person who should be taken seriously. Plus she’s yelling loudly and her feelings are hurt so you know she has to be right. I love the part where she takes her backpack off like she’s gonna fight him.

Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 5.28.22 PM

Bad ass alert!!

Then the idiot behind her chimes in with “you’re supposed to be our advocate.”

Reminds me of the fat gay guy from Mean Girls who always had to get the last word

anigif_enhanced-13078-1414942745-27

What in world is wrong with these idiots? You’re supposed to be our advocate? What kind of 19 year old human being needs an advocate? Has anyone reading this right now ever stopped and said, “boy, I really wish my ADVOCATE was here right now”?

See this is the problem. These kids don’t understand the concept of what a teacher is. Teachers aren’t here to be your advocate. They’re here to teach you things you don’t know. Because believe it or not, you don’t actually know everything already. I know, this is hard for you to understand, but you don’t have life figured out yet, and that’s OK. That’s why you’re going to college – to hear new ideas and expand your way of thinking.

Finally she cries some more, a bunch of students walk way and refuse to listen to him, and she tells him “you’re disgusting.” This is the future of America.

Well the good part about the Internet is that it’s easy to figure out who this princess is Jerelyn Luther. She’s from a wealthy, privileged family in Fairfield, CT that lives in a $760,000 home. Her Mom owns a successful PR Agency called Creative Solutions. Although Luther’s biography is no longer on the website, you can see a cached version here.

jerelyn-620x437

This is why the whole “white privilege” thing is bullshit. This girl just proved it. She’s sitting here whining about how much of a victim she is, and meanwhile she’s going to one of the best schools in the world and she had the PRIVILEGE of growing up in a sheltered, rich environment that Mommy and Daddy provided for her. But please, tell me about all of the inherent advantages that come with being born with a certain skin pigmentation.

Oh yea, here’s the best part. At one point she asked him, “Who the fuck hired you?” Well Jerelyn, the answer to that question is, “you did.” Because as it turns out, Jerelyn Luther is on the search committee that brought this guy to Yale a couple years ago. I LOVE hippies!!!

A couple students did stick around and argued with him some more:

Here’s the transcript:

Professor: I’ve said I’m sorry for causing you pain.
Student 1: That is different.
Prof: That is different. That is different, in fact. That’s different than the statement that I’m sorry for what I said. There’s a big difference between the two, guys. The fact-
Student 1: Do you fundamentally stand behind what she said?
Prof: I stand behind free speech; yes, I do.
Student 2: Well then that sorry doesn’t mean anything.
Student 3: Even when it’s offensive?
Prof (addressing Stud 3): Even when it’s offensive. Especially if it’s offensive. Even if-
Stud 3: Even when it denigrates me?
Prof: Even when it denigrates you, even though I don’t agree with the content of the speech. I have the same objections to the speech that you do. The same ones.
Stud 2 (interrupting): But it doesn’t submit(?) to you-
Stud 1 (interrupting): But what about the swastika-
Prof (cont’d): But, I defend the right for people to speak their mind.
Stud 3: So when the IAC(?) sends out an email saying…
Prof: So who gets to decide what’s offensive? Who gets to decide guys?
Stud 2: When it hurts me!
Stud 1: When it’s offensive to me!
Prof: What if everybody says, “I’m hurt”? Does that mean everyone else has to stop speaking?
Student 4: But that’s not what was happening!
Stud 1: No! Because you don’t- No, but you don’t under-
Prof: Hold on. So I agree with the content of your speech. I am as against racism as you are. I am as against social inequality as you are. I have spent my life addressing these issues, even some of the students in my class can speak out to this, but that is different than the freedom of speech. The right to defend people to say whatever they want including you! Including your right to write what you want and speak to me; which I will also defend.
Stud 3: Th-The IAC
Girl to the camera: Joana(?), just ask him when he apologized. This is all interesting(?).
Prof: And one more thing, when I was at other institutions, I have defended people with your views against tremendous opposition. People with your views that the administration tried to ferret out and expel.

My favorite part is when they ask him if you should be allowed to have free speech, “even if offends me?” His answer was priceless – “ESPECIALLY if it offends me.” Couldn’t have said it any better myself. I feel this guy’s pain. Just look at Turtleboy Sports. We write things that offend some people. But instead of just moving on with their lives and respecting free speech, they organize bootleg protests that ironically end up bringing local businesses even more business.

You just wanna laugh at these people. I really can’t believe they actually believe this poppycock. Especially this part:

Who gets to decide what’s offensive guys? That seems like a rational question designed to get students to think out loud. Her answer was exactly what any good fascist would say – “when it hurts me.” Newsflash kids – no one gives a shit if your stupid feelings are hurt. Literally no one. Here is this guy with a doctorate, teaching at an Ivy League school, who is trying to explain to you the dangerousness of censoring speech that hurts your feelings. And instead of listening to him and absorbing his wisdom and experience, you’re arguing with him, refusing to hear him out, and walking away when you don’t like what you hear.

Everyone’s blaming this generation, but I’m blaming my generation. We’re the ones who raised these idiots to think like this. We’re the ones who gave everyone a trophy and started giving timeouts instead of a spanking on the tooshie. They learned it from watching us.

Most importantly they learned that they can demand shit. All these demands for people to step down from their jobs are so asinine, but these kids’ parents taught them that their demands actually matter. When you don’t get your way you can just stomp your foot on the ground and throw a fit, and you’ll still get a cookie after dinner. Anything to shut your ass up.

Everyone take note – THIS is why Donald Trump is resonating with people. Because of morons like this. I will be the first to admit that Trump is as far to the right as you can possibly get, and I certainly don’t agree with a lot of it. But why do you think his message is appealing to people? Because they see videos like this and they are naturally drawn to whatever the exact opposite is. Because they see that when you try to take a middle ground like this professor did, the hippies come at you even harder. They have declared war on free speech, which is why everyone finds a billionaire who says whatever the hell enters his mind, so appealing.

With these Yale professors being left, let it be known that people that are democrats (liberal) like me do NOT want to be lumped in with these morons.

It’s just a Halloween costume people. Calm the fuck down. As an Irishman I don’t get all offended when everyone tries to say they are Irish on St Patrick’s Day, equate drunken dumbassery with my culture, or make fun of the potato famine despite how the English caused it or how they absolutely massacred innocent civilians multiple times during the Irish War of Independence.

Once again, I’m the type of person on the left just like the professor here. “Hurt feelings” are so subjective that if the argument was believed it could be applied to literally anything anyone says ever, so long as a person feels offended by the statement. The most retarded argument I have ever heard.

By the way, Fascism is an extend of *Conservatism,* as in, right of the aisle. Hitler was a conservative. The opposite end would be Stalin, with the USSR. But both are equally horrible. Which is why it’s best not to get mired in any political camp and always stay a little closer to the middle than either side.

        Naziism came from Conservative ideals.

Would you own that as well? Fascism is a right-wing ideal.

I know you can’t think for yourself and be impartial, but please, do try.

Ditto. I would be so ashamed if this was my daughter. Speaking of whom, she is a budding social justice warrior herself and we spend a lot of time talking with her about these kinds of issues (she is very anti-police these days so that’s a common conversation) and now that she’s in college, I do worry about her getting radicalized by the fringe nutjobs. I can only hope that we have instilled enough common sense in her that she won’t end up screaming and swearing at one of her professors for his views. Or in jail after taking part in a “protest.” Fingers crossed…

It may be a quote from a movie but this is probably one of the best summaries of free speech I’ve heard…

“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You’ve gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say, ‘You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.’ You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country cannot just be a flag. The symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Now show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.”

Powerful stuff. It really helped me understand my own views about free speech. We don’t have agree with everything someone has to say, but damn it, we should all defend their right to say it. This is America.

Another example of the totalitarian mindset at work. They do not tolerate free speech because they know better and are so much smarter than the rest of us low brow grunts. They secretly crave power and could become dangerous if they get that power. Like some of the kids in the novel “The Corrections” or the Kardashian girls this young lady is the product of a failed consumerist culture. Over pampered, over indulged, spoiled and rude. No manners, no respect.
