Did you know that ANOTHER Worcester North High School assistant principal was assaulted by a student yesterday? No? I guess I can’t blame you since it’s been swept under the rug and your local “newspaper” doesn’t seem interested in reporting it. Then again, this is why you read Turtleboy Sports. Because someone has to report the real news that people wanna know about. And what you’re about to find out is something startling – Superintendent Melinda Boone is deliberately endangering the lives of teachers in order to improve her resume.

I heard a rumor about this incident at North High yesterday, so I posted on Facebook that I wanted to hear from North teachers about what happened. My inbox was almost immediately flooded with disappointed educators all sharing the same story.

The week started on Monday at North High after school with a faculty meeting, featuring a special guest – Melinda Boone. I have multiple sources telling me that when she arrived she said, “Good afternoon” to the faculty. Since this is the same faculty that she disregards the professionalism of and continues to endanger on a daily basis, only a handful of teacher mumbled it back to her. Boone’s response? Saying to the faculty,

“Well that was a lukewarm response. Let’s try again.”

Because apparently the teachers at North High are Goddamn first graders. Seriously though, could you be any more out of touch? It’s like she has NO CLUE that teachers in Worcester have no confidence in her. She was genuinely surprised she didn’t get a standing ovation. After all, she’s used to praise. She tosses some graphs together that shows how she “fixed” schools in Worcester, and all the other overpaid stiffs in suits (pant suits included) give her a pat on the back. Then they go to lunch at the Sole.

Now what a good superintendent would do at a meeting like this is field questions from the teachers. Listen to what their concerns are. Let them know that you support them and since they are professionals with advanced degrees their concerns will be taken seriously.

But then again she’s not a very good superintendent. As a matter of fact she’s terrible. So naturally she refused to answer any questions and split them into groups to discuss her dumbass “plan” for safety at North. According to multiple teachers they felt intimidated from talking about what North High really needs – a police officer in the building – because Boone, and Stacy Luster (whose job could easily be filled by a Fitchburg State cheerleader) kept “popping in” on their discussions. Apparently they were only supposed to be discussing how awesome Boone’s shitty plan was.

What she did talk about at the meeting was her many accomplishments. She celebrated the increase in the graduation rate at North High under her leadership. Because SHE did that. Several at-risk kids at North were considering dropping out and becoming drug dealers, but then they thought to themselves, “No, I can’t let Melinda Boone down.”  This respect has manifested itself on Twitter as the children have created a parody account in her name:

Like I’ve said before, there is nothing worse than a politician with a chart. They can manipulate any data to make it look like they’re not completely incompetent. This is what she does best. What the chart doesn’t show is the collateral damage her bar graphs have caused. How do you improve a graduation rate? Simple. Tell principals to tell teachers that everyone gets to pass. De-emphasize things like art, history, foreign language, and physical education, because they’re not gonna be on the MCAS. Don’t suspend or expel kids who endanger others. Basically make sure that scumbags stay in school and graduate in four years no matter what.

Anyway, the fight apparently happened in the cafeteria yesterday. It began as a one-on-one, but another gutless punk dooshnozzle jumped in, because that’s what you do when you’re a piece of shit coward. I am told by two female teachers who witnessed it that when Assistant Principal Bruce O’Connell tried to break it up he was hit at LEAST three times. Students at North High seem to confirm this general sense of anarchy on Twitter:

Yup, no problems here. LOL. Seriously though, why he FUCK would ANYONE be opposed to having a cop in the building at this point? You see it right here from the kid’s mouths. They’ve become desensitized to fights because they’re so common. This is why police exist. They go after the bad guys and they do that by concentrating on high crime areas. North High is clearly a high crime area and needs to be policed. Assistant principals and teachers are not trained in restraint techniques, can be sued if they touch kids the wrong way while trying to break it up, and often end up getting hurt in these things. If Boone cared about protecting her teachers she would have police there. But she doesn’t give a fuck about the teachers because she’s a carpetbagger from Virginia with no ties to our community.

Mr. O’Connell had to go to the hospital, which makes him the fourth out of four assistant principals at North who have been assaulted this year. Earlier this year Mr. Creamer, another assistant principal, was injured while trying to break up a fight and missed an extensive amount of time as a result. One teacher from North put it best when it came to yesterday’s altercation:

This one wasnt that bad… which is kind of sad to say.”

Yup. We’ve reached the point where teachers at North High almost don’t even bat an eye when a principal has to go to the ER. Just another day at the zoo. Naturally no one was arrested for this assault.

Here’s the real bombshell – at least one of the students involved in this fight was a known danger to the school and had been sent back to North after an expulsion hearing conducted by the superintendent’s office because Boone didn’t wanna mess up her precious data. Ya got that? We’re keeping dangerous criminals in school where they can assault other students, teachers, and administrators so Melinda Boone can show you her stupid fucking chart.

This isn’t the first time either. Several teachers have informed me that one of the students who was arrested during the most recent North High bomb threat for fighting, had been sent back to North after an expulsion hearing. His alleged crime? Throwing a chair at a teacher. Because even if you throw a chair at a faculty member you can’t get expelled in Worcester so long as Melinda Boone is running the show.

Something has to be done about this. I’d love to hear from School Committee members Tracy Novick, Jack Foley, Hilda Ramirez, John Monfredo, and Joe Petty, as to why they recently voted to renew her three year contract? If you can explain to me how the job she’s done outside of North High can validate endangering the lives of over 1,500 people on a daily basis IN North High, then I’m all ears. If I don’t hear from you then you’re gonna be on our “don’t vote for list” in November, and that’s not a list you’re gonna wanna be on. Trust me.

Boone is out control and out of touch. But what did you expect? She has no fucking clue about the realities of day to day life in Worcester because she’s a carpetbagger. She came here from Virginia for the pay check. Most likely she’s using this as a rung on the ladder that she’ll climb to a higher paying, even more useless position. Worcester needs someone leading it’s schools who is actually FROM Worcester. Someone who understands the day to day reality that teachers face. Someone who isn’t concerned with data, but rather wants to create a safe learning environment for teachers and students.

The bottom line is what happened at North yesterday is criminal. And when you break the law you need to be arrested for it. But how can you do that if there isn’t an officer in the building? How can you expect kids to have positive relationships with the police if the only time they ever see them is when they’re running from them? How can you expect any parent to think their child is safe when the kids their kids go to school with have ZERO problem punching an administrator in the face multiple times? You can’t. But we don’t have a cop there because professional assholes like Clive McFarlane think the police are inherently racist. It all goes back to the Ferguson bullshit. It’s created this “us against them” mentality with urban youth and the police, when what we should be doing is showing kids that the police are here to protect law-abiding citizens by getting rid of the criminals.

My son is a junior at North and he was also present at the recent out of control right that took place and from what he speaks about a known trouble maker at the school felt the need to go over to a student who was sitting down at lunch and hit him because he felt the need to and then the friends of the victim jumped in because it’s a natural instinct to react when nobody else does to help your friend! This is my knowledge of what happened and what I strongly advice be done ASAP is getting the punks out of the school so the kids that want to learn and want an education can have just that. Its just not fare to watch these kids suffer. We need a new superintendent now before it’s too late

Worcester South has a guard house at the front gate that was manned by a cop when I went there. Bartlett High in Webster has a cop on duty.

Funny how you don’t hear about bomb threats and brawls happening there.

When the superintendent speaks to highly trained professionals like they’re children, you know the situation is fucked up.

I would guess that those lazy school committee members that voted to renew Boones contract didn’t want to go through the work of finding a qualified candidate. Wonder if it would of ended up like the search for city manager.

@Chuck – unthinking a great that you think there’s a better solution, but I don’t see you offering one. So, if we shouldn’t expel kids or arrest them for assault, how do you propose we teach them a lesson about actions and consequences. What alternative do you have to police presence?
Honestly, I think they need more that one officer present all day.

Is worse for their future. Also putting a cop in a high school is not a good idea. Much more collateral damage will occur. Theyre must be a better solution.

This article seems very biased. These types of situations can be sensetive. Kids should not b allowed to have violent behavior nurtured. But i do know throwin them out is worse f

Mr. Boy, we’d like to commend you on your stellar reporting. It is the mark of a truly great investigation when innuendo has been passed along uncritically. We also advise our staff to make no attempt to contact any of the principals* before publishing, and we feel it’s in the best interest of the reader to assign blame to assorted individuals before we even know what happened. Very well done. If you ever decide to bring your talents to the national audience they’re clearly suited for, please feel free to send us a resume. We assure you it will receive special attention.

*We know you’re smart enough, Mr. Boy, to know we mean the main subjects of the story, and not the principal the high school. Homonyms can be so confusing.

Because of an editing error, a comment on Thursday about Turtleboy’s superior investigative reporting skills and future employment prospects with us omitted a word. It should have read “the principal of the high school,” not “the principal the high school.”

Well maybe what staff should do is let the idiot wanna be gangster punks fight it out until one of them cant fight no more . Clear out wherever they are fighting and call the WPD. Then put it all on Boone and defer all calls and media attention to her private home and office line. She should be the one who comes in to “try and break it up”. Lets see how quick she gets a detailed officer there after she gets hit once!!!!

You don’t need permission to call the police…..

      February 26, 2015 at 2:12 pm

I am surprised someone inside the school with a cell phone hasn’t called the police when one of these fights went down. I’m guessing the normally liberal touchy-feely educators would probably welcome the cops at the front door, knowing their safety is seriously at risk by Boone’s malfeasance.
