This weekend’s Patriots game against the Jets is the first time I’ve been at all worried about them having to play a real game all season. It doesn’t matter how bad or good the Jets are, chances are it’s gonna be a 19-17 game or some boring bullshit like that. Even without Rex Ryan, this team just brings out the worst in us. Plus this new guy Todd Bowles is a million times better than Sexy Rexy.

The thing that should worry you the most about the Jets are the receivers. I forgot how good Brandon Marshall is. He might have the best combination of route running and hands in the NFL. Throw Eric Decker in on the other side and the Patriots secondary – the weakness of the defense – is going to be tested like it hasn’t been tested all season.

With that said, the big story is the return of Darrelle Revis and whether or not we should boo him. The answer to that is no. Anyone who boos him is a moron. Look, do I wish Revis was here? Yup. But I’m living over here in grown up world and I realize that professional athletes are dumb if they don’t go to the highest bidder. The Patriots tried getting cheap with him so he went where the money is. Considering he probably won’t even be in the league in five years (how many 35 year old cornerbacks are there out there?) he should be trying to get every penny he can now. After all, when he stops playing he stops getting paid, but his mortgage payment stays the same.

Darrelle Revis is a high class hooker. We knew that he was from the beginning. He had no loyalty to the franchise and made it very clear that he’s the type to go to the highest bidder. We used him for a Super Bowl, and he used us for a ring and cash. Because make no doubt about it – we don’t win that Super Bowl without Revis. We paid him for his services and now our business relationship is over. When you hire a lady of the night you don’t follow her to her next client and boo her (although that would be hilarious). You thank her for the pleasant memories and you go and get the next one.

Insane, but in a happy way. Like the sweet thought of Butler making that play gave me a crazy grin while shoveling all that snow during that bitch of a winter.

Do you know what is funny? People across this country look at us here in New England across all states with regard to professional sports and probably say one or more of these things:

Q – Are they all insane?
    A – Yes
Q – Do they actually dress up like a regular person?
A – Yes in public, sometimes no in private.
Q – We are not insane we just have championship caliber teams. Is this true?
A – Questionable at times but the trophies in all Boston pro-sports answers that question.
    Q – Is this stupid?
    A – No. Well, maybe.

    Good night.

I will boo him because he now plays for the enemy. Along with Deion Sanders and Willie Brown one of the greatest cover guys ever. All the respect in the world for him and I wish we still had him. Butler is a tough ball- hawking kid but he’s no Revis. Don’t blame him one bit for going for the big bucks since the earning window is short. Grab all you can, take care of your family. If a guy lasts 10 years in the NFL he’s lucky. There’s a good chance of taking years off your life or a least compromising the quality of life. They do it for the money and glory. Sure it’s better than most jobs but the time is short and the risks are high. I booed Damon because the Yankees suck and will boo Revis because the Jets suck. It’s just sports, nothing personal, but booing is just a way of saying you’re pissed and I’m pissed that he left us to play for the freakin Jets.

Well said Larry I agree. I still won’t boo because of last year but I get what you’re saying.

“But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that’s that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can’t hide that.… Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past.”

TB you’re wrong on this one. And it has nothing to do with who he plays for.

So, playing the devils advocate card here… are we as Boston sports fans not allowed to boo Johnny Damon or Jacoby Ellsbury when they come back to Fenway wearing pinstripes?

Definitely will not be booing this future Hall of Famer. Although I will say that despite the fact that he did not have one of his best games in the Super Bowl last year, I will agree that we got there with his help. Not because of him but with his help.

Revis vs Edelman will most likely be the matchup and it will a ton of fun to watch. They might put him on Gronk as well who knows? Either way it’s man to man with Revis. He does not do zone coverage very well. We know that, the Jets know that, the Bucs did not know that.
