So I’ve seen a lot of people on the Facebook machine sharing this story about the art exhibit in Elm Park that was destroyed by local hood rats. Basically there were 26 exhibits put on display earlier this week for the “Art in the Park” show at Elm Park, and six of them were toppled Saturday night, because Worcester is infested with assholes. This is why Worcester can’t have nice things.

Here are parts of the story about it in the Telegram. The article is in italics and our rational thoughts are in bold.

City Manager Edward M. Augustus Jr. lent the resources of the city Department of Public Works and Parks to help with cleanup Sunday. Some pieces had been pushed into the pond at Elm Park and had to be pulled out of the water.

He said police would investigate and were already speaking with witnesses. In the next few days, he said,  temporary cameras would be put in and extra patrols would monitor the area.

Hold on one second. Let me get this straight Eddy. A few art exhibits get toppled by local nudniks, and IMMEDIATELY we get cameras and extra cops? But FOUR Vice Principals at North High School get punched in the face, and you REFUSE to do the right thing and put cops in that school until Turtleboy ultimately gave you no choice? Yea that makes sense. Just a reminder that Tracy Novick and her hippie friends are still actively leading the campaign to keep cameras out of North High School. Because according to hippie logic, art is more important than the safety of our children because…..racism.

“Whoever did this does not represent Worcester,” he told Ms. Hall at the park Sunday afternoon.

Wrong. Whoever did this ABSOLUTELY represents Worcester Eddy. How out of touch are you? Do you think Elm Park is Goddamn Andover? No, it’s on freaking Russell Street. That’s a great neighborhood to score a big bag of spit, but it’s a pretty shitty neighborhood to leave out anything of value. I would’ve bet Turtleboy Jr’s college fund this would happen.

The fact that Eddy doesn’t think these people are a representation of this city proves that he knows nothing about the people who live in his city. And it all goes back to North High School. The reason they wanted to keep cops out of North so bad is because the Circlejerk would have to admit that the thousands of shitty people who inhabit Worcester are the source of Worcester’s problems, not the police.

Donna Dodson, a Jamaica Plain artist whose work “Tiger Mothers” had been displayed around the country, was too upset to talk with a reporter Sunday morning. Her large Styrofoam and cement sculptures had been snapped in two and knocked over. A bamboo piece by Peter Dellert, titled “Continuum,” was snapped in half.

Too upset to talk about reporters? Because her styrofoam “art” was snapped in half and pushed over? I’m sorry, but if you loved your “art” that much, you probably shouldn’t have left it over night in a park that is mainly used by crackheads for their afternoon naps. If I left my bike out in Elm Park over night, guess what would happen to it? Some poopsmooch would take it and chop it up for scrap metal. Sorry, this one’s on you Donna Dodson.

Freedom Baird of Cambridge went to the park to check on two of her sculptures that were damaged. She said the vandals pulled stuffing out of a punching bag-like piece she had wrapped around a tree titled “Trunk Punch Touch.”

“Somebody who’s acting out like that, they need something, and I’d like to do an art project with them, you know? Because art is good that way,” she said. “That was my first thought. I just wish I could have been here and just said, ‘Hey. Let me talk to you guys.’ ”

Sweet baby Jesus. I don’t know what drugs this lady is taking, but I want some of it. This is why I hate Cambridge with a deep, fiery passion. First of all, your name is Freedom, which is either, a) a dumb name you made up because you think it’s artistic, or b) you are the product of hippie parents who were tripping on acid.

Secondly, how stupid and out of touch is my girl Freedom? A bunch of hood rats destroy your art, and you say that you would “like to do an art project with them, you know?”  You wish you could have been there so you could say, “Hey. Let me talk to you guys”? Newsflash – if you were there, the lovely kids you would like to do an art project with would throw you in the pond, but not before taking your purse and stealing your car.

The way that Freedom looks at life is one of the biggest problems we face as a community. Instead of saying, “I’d like to take these little shitbags and shove my art up their ass,” she chooses to believe she’s dealing with normal, civilized human beings who can be reasoned with. But she’s not. She’s dealing with savages. Kind of like how the Circlejerk wanted to get into North High to “counsel” kids who were punching their teachers in the face, instead of giving them justice. Wouldn’t want to continue the “school-to-prison” pipeline, or in this case, the “art-to-prison pipeline.”

The problem is of course, that people like Freedom and Eddy have never truly interacted with the neighborhoods they profess to care about so much. It’s easy to talk about how you’re going to help poor people from your mansion in Cambridge. But it’s not so easy renting an apartment in Roxbury and dealing with reality.

Mayor Joseph M. Petty said he and Mr. Augustus are calling upon the community to donate money to the nonprofit so money can be given to the artists. The mayor and manager plan to contribute $500 each.

U.S. Rep. James P. McGovern attended Sunday’s reception, which included a performance by the Algonquin drum group Eastern Medicine Singers.

“It’s regrettable. I want this exhibit to grow,” the congressman said of the vandalism. “I think what’s important now is that we come together as a community and make sure we compensate the artists for what they lost, and figure out ways to keep it going.”

Wait….what?? You’re calling on the community to donate money to these “artists” because they were dumb enough to think that leaving their art out in a dangerous neighborhood overnight was a smart idea? We’ve been raising money for the Relay for Life at Burncoat High School for the past couple of weeks. The money all goes to the American Cancer Society. It’s a great way the community can come together to rally against a disease that has affected almost all of us at one point in our lives. Not a word from Eddy and Petty about that, but yet they want us to shell out cash to pay some “artist” from Cambridge? Yea, let me get out my checkbook. I’ll get right on that.

Look, this IS unfortunate. As much as I think 99% of artists are talentless, narcissistic hackjobs, it was a nice idea. If Worcester wants to be a real city, it needs art. Because there are two groups of people you want in your neighborhood – gay people and artists. Both of them immediately help raise your property value. Those are just facts.

But the problem is, that Worcester is what it is. We’ve got a lot of neighborhoods where an exhibit like this could actually work. Almost all of them are on the west side. But when you put nice things in Elm Park, this is what happens. Elm Park sucks. It’s the oldest park in the country and you can’t even go to it because it’s infested with bums and family reunion barbecues. This is why Worcester can’t have nice things.

Vandalism is defined as: action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.
But were any art objects actually destroyed? Toppled yes, destroyed no.
Couldn’t one make the argument that vandalism is a form of artistic expression?
Can we say that the “vandals” simply were competing artists expressing their artistic opinions?
    Just thinking… toodles!

alright shit heal. Let me preface this by saying that I was born in MainSouth and grew up in Worcester. That being said this event has been going on for almost 15 years and this is the first incident we’ve had of real vandalism. The fact that one night out of the hundreds that art has been in the park some kids decided to mess with it does not make it a representation of our city. Most of the people that live around Elm Park appreciate that any organization is taking an interest in their neighborhood. The fact that you are mocking The people who put their artwork there to try and pretty up the neighborhood when it is vandalized shows how petty and ridiculous you are. I got a piece in a few years back and there were no issues apart from people coming up to me and saying that they thought it was a cool thing for the park. Just curious have you written anything about the art in the park program before this incident or do you only care when something goes wrong. You are worthless

you fuck bois and gals realize this gas gone on for MULTIPLE YEARS without any fuckign incidents. I’m glad these motherless scrubs have to take their anger out in inanimate objects because they feel bad about life. I’M SO ANGRY I’MA PUNCH STYROFOAM, as jake and jamal walk up to the art they feel a sense of oneness with the universe, they exist for this very moment. SMASHHHHH

Saturday midnight I stopped by the park to hangout with a friend after work. It was a lovely summer night and everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying the weather until a group of teenagers came from Hudson St.. As they made their way inside the park their leader (a girl wearing red shorts and a red shirt) ordered her rabid dogs ( Im sorry for insulting dogs) to get in formation and knock an art piece down. They absolutely enjoyed every second of engaging in a team effort of vandalism. Afterwards they hung out at the playground for 10 minutes until they made their way around the pond to destroy another art piece. I saw the whole thing happen and I’m ashamed and angry at myself for not calling the PD right away. But I do live on Pelham St. where calling the PD is a privilege and not a right. Simply put I can’t cry wolf every time a petty crime occurs because I would become a nuisance to the department very fast. There are much more serious crimes occurring just a block away from the park but they rarely if ever get the same attention. I’m not to saying that the PD does not care on the contrary officers are the only officials present in my neighborhood during a crisis. But that city officials directly dictate the priorities of my PD for their political agenda.

Short version – you sat there and did Jack shit while the hood rats destroyed private property. Because you really don’t give a shot, it you want to claim the moral high ground so you blame it on the police.

Am I in the ball park?

If that’s art then my kids a genius. He should be making millions by now with his amazing pieces, and he’s only 4. Another huge FAIL for the city of worcester!

You act like this is first Art in the Park event to happen, it’s been occurring for years and there has never been an issue. No defacing or vandalism.

You’re assuming these troglodytes know even the first thing about art. That’s what we call quite a big stretch.

TBSpurts I assume the troglodytes you’re referring to are those ‘artists’. It’s true they don’t know much about creating or displaying art. They must’ve gone to one of those schools where everybody got a trophy just for showing up.

Carlo (aka Spurts) is just jealous the cops wont let him ride the see-saw at the park anymore because he scares the kids more than the homeless junkies who live under the jungle gym do.

Go back to your pure white town of Sutton Carlo. Its past your 4th nap time.

To me, high art can be found in the latest issue of Wrinkles & Ripples! After all, that’s how I became acquainted with Mrs. Spurts! I sent in a hot letter, and next thing you know she’s at my place gettin’ her fart box tongue-punched! 😀

Afterwards, I treated her to a tubesteak dinner at Auntie Dot’s

Actually, Mrs. Spurts told me you begged her to take a big steamy dump right in your mouth while you jacked off with the tweezers. The tongue-punching was just clean-up. Nothing like a little corn on the COB.

Why are those four guys and the backhoe wrecking that thug-artist’s proper placement of that doe-eyed, black-eared kitty thang? Ok it’s hard to tell the original artist placement from the vandal artist version but the last picture is the best display.

The pink kitty as artist admires its own reflection in the water, lying over that stonewall, totally in love with itself. Kinda like Baldino reading his blog. Meanwhile the huge black menace of the rectangle stuck to its butt… clearly a representation of the Black Lives Matter movement. Pushing art and all of Wormtown to the edge in an art-meets-traffic-blocking-blockheads metaphor of man’s inhumanity to big-pink-kitty-art.

Actually Steve Gambone, the best shot would be the backhoe dropping that hideous pink nightmare into one of those giant car shredders. The rubble coming out the end would be art!

Good art critique Devils Mouthpiece. This art event is a good candidate for a Turtleboy Tuesday subject. Turtleboy should read your critique (without my name as the start) and Shannon Boudreau’s comment.

WTF,,, the magical unicorns around the park didn’t protect the art??? Or maybe a bunch of leprechauns drawn in by all the rainbows vandalized it.

    • Steve Gambone
      June 15, 2015 at 11:23 am

Devils Mouthpiece there’s no way a bunch of unicorns would protect this diversity art stuff. Magical unicorns are white and therefore soooo racist they probably trashed the park just to blame it on the leprechauns. Worcester is so full of leprechaun-o-phobes even the DOJ won’t let those little green-hatted tipsy folks participate in the diversity talks. People can be so small-minded about the really big injustices.

      Leprechaun Lives Matter people!!!
      just sayin’.

Wait a mintue — These artists ALREADY get paid $700 to a thousand bucks to display their styrofoam “art”, AND their pieces are insured by the Art in the Park Organization. OH, and the Art in the Park website explicitly has “park security disclaimer”. Our genius mayor and city manager want to give these people MORE money ? These artists aren’t even from Worcester….
