So the city of Northampton joined Somerville by putting up a “Black Lives Matter” banner at City Hall. Not surprising since Northampton is infested with hippies and anti-police nudniks. You can read all about it here. A former Northampton Police Officer wrote an op-ed for Masslive, sharing his opposition to this banner. When he was on the force in November 0f 2014 he was verbally assaulted by protesters who berated him after the non-indictment of Darren Wilson for shooting Michael Brown in self defense. Naturally he was called a racist and is probably a social pariah in town at this point. Because you can’t stereotype people by race, sexual orientation, or which bathroom they choose to identify with, but you can stereotype an entire profession simply because they wear a blue uniform.

noho-black-lives-rally2

To him, and to most rational people, this isn’t about “black lives matter.” Because as we know, black lives definitely matter. That’s just common sense. This movement isn’t about making Michael Brown’s life matter. It’s about scapegoating police for the failures of certain black men who choose not to obey the law. Michael Brown didn’t have to die, but he chose to wrestle with a cop and try to take his gun, and not surprisingly he lost his life as a result. Mike Brown’s life mattered to everyone except Mike Brown.

More than anything, this has been used as a rallying card for every cop-block little shitstain to bad mouth and generalize ALL police officers. According to Masslive, several protesters in November of 2014 carried signs at a rally outside of City Hall that included, “No Police State,” “Subvert the Rule of Racist Law,” and “F- the Police.” Newsflash black lives matter – it’s because of your association with messages like that that people associate your movement with anti-cop nonsense.

Screen Shot 2015-12-01 at 10.29.56 AM

This is Northampton City Councilor Alisa Klein:

Alisa-Klein-620x400

Her face might as well be the official mascot for Northampton, because that is exactly what I think of when I think of NoHo. She was at the rally on that night in November and said the following about police:

“When I hear that it’s a matter of officer safety, I say bullshit! This wasn’t a tragic accident. It’s murder, it’s racism, it’s injustice. It’s inhumanity. The lives of black and brown people matter everywhere.”

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-7

LOL. Yea, it has nothing to do with officer safety. Cops should just allow criminals to take their guns and murder them. That’s it. The fact that idiots like this can get elected tells you everything you need to know about Northampton.

See, the thing is, it’s not murder Alisa. If it were murder then a grand jury, which included several black people, would’ve chosen to indict. It’s not racism, because racism is a deep seeded belief that your race has physical characteristics that make you superior to other races. Where’s your evidence that Darren Wilson believes that? Oh yea, you don’t have any. You’re just throwing that word out there because you’re a Northampton social justice warrior. Facts are meaningless to you, especially if you have a bullhorn in your hand.

So yea the fact that people like her are the ones rallying behind the “black lives matter” message, is the main reason why people are skeptical of that banner. Because it doesn’t really mean “black lives matter.” It means that cops don’t have a right to protect themselves, all cops are inherently racist, and if we don’t agree with those things then we’re all racist too.

She wasn’t the only one who said stuff like this either:

We need the police to hear this sh-t,” yelled Amherst activist Ed Cage. “So they don’t f- up and do the same thing they did in Ferguson.” Cage said police in Massachusetts towns are “just a step away from doing what they did in Ferguson.”

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-4

Translation – cops in Northampton should allow dangerous criminals to kill them.

Screen Shot 2015-12-01 at 10.10.28 AM

Amherst activist Sovann-Malis Leong asked white people to “talk to their children about their privilege.”

Wait, I thought this was about “black lives matter?” Now we’re forcing white people to lecture their kids about “white privilege?” A concept that is laughable, dumb, and easily debunked.

Minister Charles Stokes of Springfield said every black male knows what it’s like to walk into a subway, and watch the uncomfortable reaction of white people, even those who profess to not be racist. “White supremacy is a disease that says ‘because of the color of my skin, I am better than you,'” said Stokes.

I’m glad that yet another minister politician is using the pulpit to divide people. I’m glad that he’s speaking for ALL black people, because apparently he has the ability to speak for tens of millions of people of color nationwide.

But the worst of all the protesters on that November night was a local hippie named Vanessa Lynch. She is a professional protester who has been arrested more times than she can count. She organized the illegal blockade of the busiest intersection in Springfield, at the “X”, last April. Here she is being handcuffed while yelling “FTP, fuck the police,” and “we shut shit down.”

She seems lovely. In a normal town she would be ignored and laughed at. But Northampton ain’t a normal town. Instead of being ridiculed, nutjobs like Vanessa Lynch get seats at special town discussions about race:

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-3

That’s her on the far left, two seats away from Alisa Klein. The woman singing a song about Trayvon Martin is a public school teacher at Amherst-Pelham Regional. I’m sure her class if fair and balanced. Here’s what she said at this conference about the Northampton Police.

Lynch, 23, of Northampton, said she does not feel safe calling the police when there is a problem, nor does she feel safer with officers of color because she believes they have internalized the racism directed at them.

Uh-oh, someone get this girl a safe space!!! LOL. Just another professional victim whining about imaginary danger she faces while she lives in the most progressive and safest city in the state. But please, tell me more about the black cops in Northampton are dangerous because they have “internalized racism.” Because this is a woman whose movement (black lives matter) should obviously be taken seriously. Obviously.

Screen Shot 2015-12-28 at 1.20.12 PM

During the November 2014 protest outside of City Hall, she led an illegal blockade of the streets which shut down traffic on the busiest road in the city for over an hour (front right in the bootleg camo):

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-8

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-6

Notice all the honkies in dreadlocks. Northampton is 2.7% black. So all these social justice warriors who supposedly are so welcoming of black people, certainly don’t seem to want them in their neighborhoods. But please, tell me more about how the police are the racist ones.

According to Masslive, “Arise for Social Justice organizer Vanessa Lynch led the group in several chants, yelling “Indict, convict, send that killer cop to jail; the whole damn system is guilty as hell.”

She also urged people to boycott businesses owned by white people and called the police an “occupying force”:

Lynch asked the crowd to stand in solidarity with Michael Brown’s family on “Black Friday” by patronizing only minority-owned businesses.  Lynch called police “an occupying force in our community,” and said Brown’s death was not an isolated incident, but part of an entrenched system of racism.

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls-5

Yup, she seems rational. Let’s make small business owners suffer on the busiest shopping day of the year because they have the misfortune of being born into imaginary white privilege. This is someone whose viewpoint and opinions should be held in high regard.

The fact of the matter is that SHE is the face of the black lives matter movement. She doesn’t give a shit about Michael Brown. His life meant nothing to her. She only cares about furthering her own anti-police agenda. This is why the banner should be banned at City Hall. Because at the end of the day “Black Lives Matter” is really codeword for “Fuck the police.”

We understand that shit like this happens all the time in Western MA, and not all people out there are like this. The normal people in Northampton must lose their Goddamn minds waking up to this nonsense every day. So for the working folks in the 413 who are sick of shit like this, we’ve got your back. Keep sending us stories like this and we’ll keep exposing these frauds one by one. Turtleboy has exposed every crook and chiseler in Worcester, but every city in America needs their own Turtleboy. Because someone has to be the voice of reason.

Got an idea. When the cop tells the black man to drop the gun after he’s terrified people by robbing their store, do what the cops say,and you’ll probably live to tell about the crime you just commited. Don’t fight with the cops, because they will defend themselves. How bout Blue lives matter. What do you have to say about that Casey Parsons? When you get in trouble from an unfortunate situation who do you call? The boys in blue, not Julious Jones, that’s for sure. Everyone picks on all the cops but they are the first ones we call in an emergency. MLK would roll over in his grave if he saw what’s happening with this movement. Remember the Rodney King verdict? The blacks didn’t get the verdict they wanted so they burned, looted and destroyed private property all over LA. Fuckin savages. They continue to carry on the stereotype they have earned. Don’t get me wrong, there are millions of law abiding blacks in this country, and the BLM movement is just making it harder for them. A few bad apples can spoil the bunch.

You wrote this article because you want to talk, and you think that you have a point. People think that this is a good article because they have just as poor taste in media as you do. I think that you are overlooking the overall sentiment of the Black Lives Matter movement. In your article, you focused on the shooting and killing of Michael Brown. Even if your far-stretched claims about Michael Brown’s behavior that led to his death are somehow true or accurate, you choose not to bring to light the countless other deaths, primarily the death of innocent black men, at the hands of police officers. Maybe you choose not to bring them to light because you may not know about them. That would be absurd though, because there are several videos coming out weekly, videos of police cruiser footage, of police aggression toward completely innocent people, and you know that. The footage of police officers aggressing and killing black men like their lives are disposable is what this movement is about. If you agree with the “All Lives Matter” slogan, you are entirely missing the point of the Black Lives Matter movement. All lives matter goes without saying. Not everybody who reps. the Black Lives Matter slogan believes that all cops are unjust. Many people agree with your opinion that we should not be generalizing and judging an entire profession, that is a good point. To believe that everybody who has witnessed unwarranted police violence thinks that all cops are bastards, though, is a misconception. You are generalizing this movement, perceiving it incorrectly, and, therefore, representing it incorrectly. You don’t have to agree with the movement, and yeah, you can write an article about how you don’t agree with the movement, but at the least, do justice to the thing that you’re disagreeing with. Otherwise, you have a bad article. I have read several other articles you have written. Your writing suggests your ignorance, and your level of immaturity. Come to think about it, your style of writing seems to be right up the alley of many extreme right-wing media outlets. This may come off as a compliment to you, and that’s sad. To be very real, I do not mean to come off like a dick, but when I’m subjected to poor writing, I need to speak out. I would like to think that your potential as a thinker and a writer has not been reached in this article.

Also, if you could send a response my way, do you think that you could tell me what you think a hippy is? We all have a different idea in our heads of what hippies are. Some people believe that a hippy is a person with dreads who wears sandals, yoga pants, and a tye-dye shirt. Some people think a hippy to be a person who lives in a yurt and doesn’t shower. Some other people think that I hippy is somebody who is a little more informed than the rest and is outspoken about it. You use the word hippy in a condescending way, but not all people think that the word hippy has a negative connotation attached to it at all. So please, entertain me on this.

And for the record, Northampton is a beautiful place. Calling out Northampton makes you look like an asshole.

I adore how you call out right wing media and in the same bresth talk about the videos coming out “weekly” of police aggression toward black individuals. News flash, left wing media ONLY shows videos of blacks being the target of police aggression. This leads to people, like yourself, believing that there is this huge problem with cops going after black individuals when there really isn’t. Showing ONLY these videos pushes their agenda. What about videos of cops pumping their gas and being being shot dead? Or white people being the targets of police aggression? Or black people KILLING black people? Nope. You don’t see those because it doesn’t fit with the left wing’s agenda. Nice try though!

      • Casey Parsons
        January 22, 2016 at 2:19 pm

It is a good point that you brought up that you only see police shootings exposed in left-wing media. It is untrue to say that the only videos shown by left-wing media sources show only videos of police aggressing and killing black people. Videos of police shooting white, as well as many other races and peoples’ of different backgrounds, are shown. The Black Lives Matter movement is not strictly about these police shootings. This movement is about the racial discrimination towards black people within our law enforcement/justice system and the institutional racism that permeates our society. Now, why is it that you do not see the same type of exposure of police-related shootings in right-wing media? The answer is obvious: Because it does not support the right-wing’s agenda, right? At this point, you need to call into question what the agendas of the right and the left really are, and who has a stronger, more just agenda? As it relates to police shootings, I have not seen much come from the right about it. However, when it is discussed, the measures taken by police officers and the altercations as a whole are downplayed, or somehow justified. Now that I have made it clear that the left-wing media exposes more than those police shootings that affect only black individuals, we can conclude that the left’s agenda is to expose racial injustice in the law enforcement and criminal justice systems.

At this point in the comment, I need to point out that your comment suggests that any news source that exposes an unjustified police shooting of a black individual can be safely considered leftist, and that you consider it leftist based on the lack of that exposure in right-wing media. It seems that regardless of the news source, you think that the black victim of a police shooting serves as a qualifier for left-wing media material. Please correct me if I am wrong, I don’t want to be continuing this conversation based on any false assumptions I am making about you. If this assumption is true, however, then it seems like you have your right/left blinders on.

And to be clear about my “calling out of right-wing media,” I am speaking about the meaningless name calling that is so prevalent in right-wing media. Turtleboy employs the same tactic. And though it may be entertaining to some, it just makes for poor writing. If the ideas that you have to share are sound in and of themselves, you don’t to back yourself up with name calling.

        • StupidIsAsStupidDoes
          January 22, 2016 at 3:53 pm

How have you made it clear that the left wing media exposes other police shootings? By saying that it is true? It just absolutely isn’t.

And I would love to know what percentage of police/black shootings occur without the black person having a gun in their hands that they REFUSE to drop when told to? I would gather that the percentage is SMALL. Are there bad cops? Definitely. Do unarmed, law abiding people get shot by cops? Less definitely. Do the vast majority of these black men who are getting shot do so in the midst of committing a crime, wrestling with a police officer, or refusimg to hand over their arms? YES. It is just false and irresponsible to say that these shootings are against innocent men minding their own business. These men you tout as heroes are all that is wrong with the black community. How about changing from within, how black men are brought up. Teach them to get an education, teach them to work hard, teach them that stealing and gang banging is not the way to go about living an afult life. Then, if these educated, law-abiding black men are getting shot. We can talk.

while i have given a thumbs up on this comment-i don’t agree with all of it.i agree with the assertion that turtle boy has not written a well-thought out & lucid argument(my words).also, that citing only one instance of a racially motivated killing forms a valid point.yes, there are racist cops, just as there are honorable, fair & caring cops.to paint a big line that says all of a particular group on this side are “bad” and everyone on the opposite side are bad & oppressed is too easy.there is grey everywhere.
do i think that maybe cops,at times, are trigger-happy? possibly.do i think there are people that are targeted for their race?probably.do i also think there are black/hispanic people that are doing stupid, dangerous things that are illegal and by doing so,putting themselves in harm’s way.yes.it all falls under the umbrella of personal accountability.
all of this is just my opinion an a very complex & highly charged matter.
and by the way-i am a life-long resident of northampton. i do feel at times as though my hometown has been hijacked by every single entity with an axe to grind, agenda to push, place to be seen & heard. many many “townies” feel as though they don’t belong & and are pushed aside, regardless of race. and it’s damned expensive to live here! but it’s home and it does have its own beauty-it’s not hard to see if you open your eyes & shut your mouth! just get off of main street.

I’m so sick of all this shit! Now Will Smith are complaining about diversity in the academy awards. Now that he and his family have made millions of off Hollywood, now there mad they didn’t get a trophy? Fuck off, don’t bite the hand that feeds you! Black people are the ones who keep racism alive. You don’t hear the Chinese or other Asian immigrants complaining, only the blacks and Hispanics. Why do they all feel like they need to change the world. If you don’t like it,get the fuck out. So sick of all this BLM shit. Maybe if they didn’t go around shooting everyone, the rest of us wouldn’t feel uncomfortable when they walk into the subway station. Dress respectable, and not like a hood, and maybe the rest of us won’t be afraid of being robbed or shot by you. That’s the bottom line! So fed up with whine bags. Get a job, work hard, make good choices and your life will improve. Stop being the crazy jealous ex- girlfriend.

Hanging their hats on the misfortunes of criminals as usual. Michael Brown was shot during the commission of a felony. Boohoo.

This bunch of hippies don’t believe in hard work and good moral character to move ahead in society; they believe in anti-establishment propaganda, handouts, and excuses. Racism is not the problem.

Forget about personal responsibility, good parenting, and all the other things that helped keep the rest of us from being killed by the police. Promote obeying the laws, working hard, and respecting authority instead of making excuses for losers that got what they deserved.

Simplistic and missing the point. The public needs to feel safe in their own town (or even the next town over). The police HAVE been out of line often. This movement is an attempt to make it known that we need to be able to trust and depend on our police. The militarism in the past few years have demonstrated the path the police might take. I remember the New Years Eve when my son was arrested after being provoked by plainclothed officers outside Hotel Northampton. The result was broken glass and debris from the hotel to main street. It seemed the public didn’t agree with the police wedge action perpetrated on them. I think the message people are trying to send is to take the militarism out of the police force. Humanize and don’t be so damn sensitive. We DO hold you to a higher level of behavior.
