Last week we shared with you the story about the David Prouty music teacher, John Waage, who was being denied a potentially life-saving surgery for his cancer treatment by Blue Cross Blue Shield. The blog was shared over 500 times on Facebook and viewed over 20,000 times in 24 hours, and wouldn’t ya know it:

I’m telling you people, the Turtleboy Sports Revolution works. And by that I mean YOU did it, not us. All we did was write the blogs. But without everyone sharing and reading them it would be nothing more than the rantings and ravings a bunch of grizzled Worcester boobs. I Am Turtleboy Nation is a community of decent, hard-working people who live to help others around them.

We’ve realized with some of these blogs that the most effective way to get people to do the right thing is through public shaming. That’s a big part about what this blog is all about. The Turtleboy Sports counterrevolutionaries will tell you that we’re a bad blog because we tell it like it is. That we damage reputations and say mean things about people. Well guess what? Blue Cross Blue Shield deserved to be dragged through the mud and shamed. It was the only way to get them to do the right thing.

We wanna continue using this forum as a means to do good for the community. The week before last we wrote about how underhanded and despicable it was for the City Council to be privately meeting with Worcester State University to talk about chopping down the Chandler Magnet ballfields in order to build another parking lot for WSU. Once again, a million people shared that blog and then – BOOM – plan is immediately scrapped.

And where were the protesters for all this? Why don’t the frauds who supposedly care about their community do something good for society instead of whining about Turtleboy Sports (a blog they can very easily just not read) and boycotting local businesses? I mean, they get media attention right? Why not use their platform to try to help the community out? I’m sure they don’t care for large health insurance companies letting someone die because they don’t wanna pay for it. I’m sure since they represent the “community” that they didn’t wanna see Chandler turned into a parking lot. So why didn’t they use their platform to promote positive change instead of increasing racial animosity? Because this

aren’t helping ANYONE in the community. Prove us wrong protesters. Do something good. I dare you.

Whether or not you agree with everything you read on this blog, the fact of the matter is it’s making a positive difference in the community. If you wanna take us down, more power to ya. But we’re not going anywhere because we’re doing the people’s work here and we’re going to continue to do so until the end of time.

Ride the turtle.

“Meanwhile, I’d love to hear what they do to help the community.”

They support our local bars with their parents credit cards.

And in Bob’s case, out take dollars.

Actually, that’s Sonya’s case, too. Since she “works” for a state school; thus we pay her salary.
