Braintree And Andover Teachers Don’t Feel Like Listening To The School Committee So They’re Chillin On The Grass Instead Of Doing Their Job Despite Hanging Out All Summer

Andover and Braintree are school districts where the School Committee voted to go with hybrid learning, meaning some days the kids are in school and other days it’s “remote learning.” This is dumb because there’s no reason schools shouldn’t fully reopen, but it’s better than entirely remote for now. However, the unions in both districts have decided that they’re gonna do whatever they feel like doing instead because teachers unions right now are acting like spoiled children who have never been told “no” and don’t know what to do.

WCVBTeachers in Andover returned to work Monday for an in-person development day but refused to enter the school buildings. Monday was supposed to be the first of 10 in-person professional development days for teachers before students start hybrid-learning on Sept. 16, however the Andover Education Association voted overwhelmingly last week to start the year remotely.

“We’re going to work today. We’re going to do our job. We’re going to do it remotely outside of the school buildings,” said Matt Bach, president of the Andover Education Association.

The Andover School District said the workplace safety action is really an illegal work stoppage, writing “Today’s action by the Andover Education Association shows a disregard for our families and students, who have confidence in the district’s work to ensure our buildings are safe for our students and staff.”

The School Committee will hold an executive session at 4:30 p.m. to discuss options for litigation, adding that they expect educators to continue their professional development in school buildings Tuesday.

“I think there’s just a growing group of parents who are really frustrated at this point and super concerned. This has become about so much more than our kids, and our kids belong in school,” parent Stephanie Sweet said. “I think that the issues between the union and the school district are really starting to cloud what’s most important in this.”

“We are OK with the added safety measures. We are not OK with teachers refusing to show up at school,” she said.

The media should call this what it is – a paid strike. Teachers work for the the taxpayers. Their employer is the School Committee, who has voted for them to return to work inside the building. Their opinions on what is and isn’t “safe” is irrelevant. If they don’t like it they’re free to quit. But parents and pretty much everyone else in the world has had quite enough of the whining coming from teachers, when we can’t send our kids to school and are expected to quit our jobs in order to do theirs for them, because they’re afraid of a virus that has virtually no chance of killing or hospitalizing them. I’m glad to see the parents finally speaking out and the SC talking to their attorneys about how to handle this.

This is the Andover Educator’s Association President Matthew Bach.

As you can see, he went with the tenured college professor look, but apparently couldn’t get a job in higher education so he teachers in the public schools instead. If he doesn’t do his job and go to work as he’s been dictated to then he should be fired. Plain and simple. He’s being insubordinate and urging other teachers to do the same. The only people being hurt by their selfish actions are the kids, who they clearly do not give a shit about as they enjoy their nice day lounging on the grass.

Meanwhile in Braintree they have something similar brewing.

“We do not believe that….”

What you believe doesn’t matter. The community feels safe enough to send their kids back, they pay your salary, the SC said you have to go back, so you must go back.

“We will conduct our work remotely.”

Oh I see – you set policy now. If you don’t feel like doing what your employer tells you to do you can just tell them to fuck off now. Ya know, because people travel to Braintree.

Unlike every other town in America where a wall keeps foreigners at bay.

Again, if the union led by Claire Brady and Hillary Carpinella don’t feel like going back, they’re more than welcome to find a new line of work where listening to your boss is optional.

BTW, this was Braintree teachers over the summer.

They’re really afraid of going back to work because then they’d have to be near each other and could spread commie cold. But standing shoulder to shoulder without masks on is cool because they have a sign. Ya know, because…science.

Just going through the MTA’s Facebook page will drive you insane too.

“Why would we need to be in the building in order to teach.”

Maybe because that’s where the kids are, you brain dead moron. I’ve never seen such a group of pathetic cowards in my life.

These same people will tell you to “stop whining” if you complain about it too.

Bitch, plenty of my taxes go to you already, and I’m fine with that because I support public education. But a big part of public education is having functioning schools where kids can go to learn. We don’t have that because your bitch ass is afraid of a pussy virus that killed less than 10,000 Americans. According to the CDC just 6% of reported COVID deaths were completely attributed to COVID. Most were extremely sick already. So unless you have a doctor’s note saying that commie cold could push you over the top if you get it, then you need to get your ass back to work and stop crying about a virus that we’re all gonna get eventually. Stop hiding from commie cold.

Superintendent Shelley Berman (himself a Legend in his own mind) finally got one right: he removed all the portable sanitary facilities and locked the doors to the buildings. Now the teachers whom refuse to enter the building are complaining about not being able to enter the building. In addition, he’s begun to dock their pay.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth is deafening, to the point my head might spin.

I feel like Ronald Reagan gave a playbook on how to deal with this on August 5, 1981. Maybe a district in MA could try that plan? I have a feeling the others teachers may change their mind quickly when an entire neighboring towns teachers are replaced.

It is a losing battle spreading blame towards teachers during this crisis. You refuse and in total abstinence ridicule them for expressing the very same thing the majority of you do here on this blog. Freedom of Speech! But the most important concern that is overlooked by this blog is most of us are doing every possible thing to keep this virus contained “FOR MANKIND” as to prevent the spread regardless of ones misundering, blame or anger/beliefs.
It is obvious that many here laying blame do not understand what the state allows for funding for each district, publicly or privately in this unique situation. Ask any district what funding they are receiving or being promised and you will get the same answer =???????? because they haven’t been told. But why waste words on the countless articles that have been set forth right here and upon deaf ears. If the state government mandated in school learning during this crisis, and teachers refused to comply, then you would have every valid negative excuse towards our education system and what you wish upon them.

    • Teachers are pussies
      September 1, 2020 at 4:04 pm

People are upset because this is a total sham job. The teachers union has power and is flexing it so they can do there jobs in pajamas from the computer. During this entire pandemic you can buy booze, weed, and now even go to a casino. Day cares are open. Little kids who can’t wear a mask all day are in daycare and then come home to kids who can’t go to school. Figure out how crazy that is. This is a bag job. They should fire all of these teachers. They are essential and they need to step up
      And stop being such pussies

They have to be one of the most bloated payrolls in the state. Gym and health teachers making $100K plus a year. Teachers getting masters paid for the salary bump and retiring 5 years later. Get the old fat teachers who will die from COVID off the books.

Dumb-dumbs like to fill their time by getting angry about things that don’t impact them and are often just wrong about the facts. This is why Facebook is a toilet and anyone who takes the complaints of dumb-dumbs seriously is also a dumb-dumb. This goes more so for you idiots posting about Braintree teachers when you don’t actually know what you’re talking about – you just like that your anger makes you feel powerful and then accepted when other dumb-dumbs agree with you. It’s like confrontational politics is an identity – but that’s so sad. Life is happening around you. Honestly just go yell into a breeze – it will have the same impact. Bunch of losers.

      September 1, 2020 at 11:41 am

Oh please enlighten us on how we are wronging Braintree teachers. You must be one of the lazy hacks who don’t wanna go back to work. Teachers can hang out all summer at the beach and parties but when it involves going back to work it’s “what about covid”. You are the loser

      • Rosco Picotrane
        September 1, 2020 at 2:29 pm

Maybe go read about Covid for thirty seconds to understand that outdoor transmission is unlikely – it might make you feel stupid for mentioning the beach in your angry screed. I know – it won’t because you’re just too stupid and any information that contradicts your anger will be discarded. That’s why people in your life don’t like you – they can sense your need to lash out because you are unhappy. And for the record I’m not a teacher and I’ve never been a union member. I just think most of you have no idea what you’re talking about. Braintree teachers aren’t striking – they just want information about air quality in the schools (that’s a reasonable request unless you’re an idiot, so…).

        • Fuck off twat

First of all dick breath I never said they were striking. I said they were lazy hacks . If we are following science ask me why every day care is open today but kids can’t go to school. And don’t give me the outside transmission crap. You know the majority of teachers are going to restaurants and Home Depot which last I checked were inside but can’t do their jobs. So you can kiss my ass. I know your a teacher. Have fun living in moms basement you douche

Hey dunce cap, Do you spend 8-10 hrs at the all day buffet? You must have been voted “MOST LIKELY TO SUCK SEED”!!

      • Rosco Picotrane
        September 2, 2020 at 1:49 pm

I assume many do care about air quality in restaurants – interested to know how you know they don’t (you don’t know but you just say it because you’re angry and venting anonymously makes you feel ok about your lousy life for a while, but I digress). I’ve seen very few people eating indoors – mostly outdoor dining (tho I would assume some inside diners have to be teachers). Here’s the thing: are you aware of any restaurants where you would be surrounded by children (who probably won’t be as good about mask wearing as adults) for hours at a time? I don’t think so, and dining out is much more time limited and any children who are there will be with parents, so it’s not the hypothetical teacher dining in who is responsible for that child, thus the dining teacher doesn’t have a classroom full of kids breathing on them while dining out. So I’d say there is a difference.

Also, all you geniuses who are bashing teachers are aware that approximately 25% of PARENTS are keeping their kids out of Braintree schools for the year, right? So it’s not only the teachers who are judging relative risk here. And did you also know that the union is now looking for MORE Braintree teachers to opt out of coming back into the schools so that they can teach this large population of remote learners? Kind of takes the wind out of your “lazy teachers won’t go back” sails doesn’t it? To be fair you never should’ve had wind under your sails on this one because you are just wrong in leaping to your angry conclusions. So, in summary fuck off and get a life offline you fucking losers.

Ps – no affiliation with teachers or unions – I work in a high rise in Boston for a private sector employer. I have a nice office. I have a nice life. Can you say the same? Maybe your anger is part of your problem. Take a look in the mirror, bozos.

You’re 100% correct on this topic. I had a father who was a teacher in N.J. and I realize that is not that great but just like everyone else in the world you’re getting paid to do a job so DO IT. This remote learning excuse is a joke. Kids, especially young kids, can not learn properly on a computer. They need to be in the classroom, just as much for learning as for interacting with other kids. Most childhood socialization happens in school and for teachers to steal that from their students is theft. Theft from the kids in the form of knowledge and theft of money from the parents.

Braintree public schools completely exposed! Thanks God for Turtle Boy. At least some one calls it for what it is.
2 weeks before back to school return and it was decided and voted on for a hybrid return…the teachers are refusing to go back. Classy! Tonight we find out that the high school will not go back until October 13th. Apparently the inner classrooms in the high school are not well ventilated. Never were!!! Guess what. If you wear a mask, N 95 if you must and a clear shield , pretty sure your covered and protected. COVID is not living in the air system. Don’t worry, they are working on the ventilation!!! Oh, but It’s ok for the preschoolers to return to the same building! Yeah right. Just like your shitty technology. Sub par! You are a complete embarrassment to your profession. I blame the administration from the top down. Parents have tolerated this shit for way too long. These kids deserve better. Parents deserve better. Stop saying it’s a great school system. Now everyone knows , it’s not! Hope all of the teachers are working on there tech skills and preparing for live classes from the comforts of home. You will be held accountable. Not like the spring when you sent 1 hr of work assignments on a Wed. for the whole week…never seeing a student. It is not going to fly! DESE will be notified. Maybe they should trim A few jobs… Last I checked your not needed if there are no students. Ie. Caf staff, librarians, Nurses, cafeteria staff. Put the money toward the HVAC system and air purifiers!!!
Oh and don’t for get to vote to pass an over ride for the schools! What a joke!

    Covid Cases...
    August 31, 2020 at 7:30 pm

The color coded Massachusetts covid town numbers are inconsequential. They are based upon 100,000 residents. So take a modest suburb of 25,000 that had 2 “cases” the week previous now sees 4 the following week and said town goes from green to dreaded yellow or, *gasp* red, negating the fact that those “cases” may have occurred within the same household. While coincidentally withholding the asymptomatic “case” load.

From someone who was in the front row to some of this years ago — the bar is extremely low as to what the State has to provide. Combine that with the fact that the State also sets the acceleration rate for the school budgets, no budget will go down. To get this done you have to take on the whole state, and the only way to do that is with your wallet and your residence by moving. Except some other shill will buy your house and pay the taxes, so it will never change barring a SERIOUS focused effort to bring it to the State House and put pressure.

Public sector unions are the devil. Even Uncle TB is beginning to figure it out.

If the is a common curriculum and established subjects then if teachers want to stay home there should be one teacher for each subject in each class. Electives like “Black Victimhood in America” “Basketball basket weaving” and “Car, Bike, and Plane for Dopes”
should be dropped and all teachers not representing 1 specific class for a specific grade should be dropkicked to the curb. “World needs more bartenders”

Exactly. Essentially, these nudniks are striking to prove we need far fewer of them than we currently have. Crazy how the teaching profession seems to attract low-capacity thinkers.

They were indoctrinated by their ‘progressive’ instructors in college to think they are the be-all and end-all. Instead, they will be shocked when they become unemployed.

Don’t tell us you can do your job sitting in your pajamas from home then tell us how vital you are to children come contract negotiation time.

Sue the MTA! Any employee not at work in the school on opening day is delinquent and discharged. Every job can be filled in one week. For YEARS the kids have been considered, nothing more than hostages to be used as a bargaining chip. You are not politicians as much as you would like to be. Your union dues are nothing more than payola to the politicians to go along on your gang rape of the students and parents. We expected better, since you have shown us the reality of education in today’s world, let us show you the reality of economics in today’s world. The unemployment rate is 16%, all due to your trying to take advantage of the tax payers. We have had enough, get back to work, or brush up you resume and get in the unemployment line. Trying to use children, you are all disgusting.Oh, by the way, Fuck You!

Interesting how Covid19 Democrat policies, teachers refusing to work for their pay and Burn Loot and Murder are all working towards the same goal of paralyzing the entire nation and still they fail.

Politics and stupidity aside, how is it every form of delivery driver from usps to the other end id the spectrum have been doing their jobs,as essential, no big paid tv ads or groups thanking a one of them. These leftist teachers unions have a hold on the schools, break the unions, charter schools succeed and will thrive ….Screw them let them all be unemployed.

Would love to see these cities slash their tax rates, which would reduce property taxes and local funding that is provided to schools. No reason to have all these teachers if classes are going to be taught remotely. College Professors teach online classes of 40-50 kids, no reason HS teachers cannot do that too. Make the cuts and lets get back to business.

The municipalities back into the tax rate number. The assessor assesses all the property, the number is generated for the town budget, those two things are reconciled to come up with the rate. Its a result, not a figure which drives other calculations.

Im tired of these fucking assholes with their selective bouts of fear mongering. These fucking pathetic teachers are so concerned for their health and safety that they can’t enter a building that has been cleaned, everyone wears a mask and will be heavily patrolled by the mask nazi’s yet have no qualms about heading over to home depot to pick up some shitty lawn furniture or head to roche brothers for their groceries. These lazy fucks have enjoyed the last 6 months of doing shit and getting paid for it and want the fun & games to continue. It would be really nice if an elected official(s) had the balls to call out these lazy fucks and demand that they go back to work or resign from their position. Id demand a tax break but we all know that would never happen!

….except they’ll still extort the taxes out of you anyway. Ask the Hasidic community in Brooklyn, when they shut down the public schools. Except fortunately since there is a gazillion people in NYC, no one barely notices the tax hit.
