Brandon Prust Two Game Suspension For Vicious Late Hit On Derek Stepan, Montreal Canadiens’ Fans Predictably Acting Like Yahoos

I’ve been talking to some Boston Bruins fans and they’ve all said they’re refusing to watch the Eastern Conference Finals because they can’t bear to watch it. Hey dooshnozzles, time to get over it. Grow up bros. If you really like hockey then you can’t get enough of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Last night’s 2-1 overtime loss for the Rangers was another ESPN classic. And of course Montreal won it the only way they can win games – with lots of controversy.

If you didn’t realize it by now, the Montreal Canadiens have the most fraudulent fan base in all of sports. Never has this been more apparent than it is right now. Habs fans are all up in arms that their fourth liner Brandon Prust is being suspended two games for this hit on the New York Rangers Derek Stepan:

I mean, how can anyone say that hit wasn’t dirty and not burst into laughter? It was late, it was high, and worst of all the two players were not equals. Look, I get why they were going after Stepan. He’s a good young player. But if you’re gonna try to take him out like they obviously did there, then you have to send someone after him that’s of equal or greater value. Otherwise it’s bush league bullshit. Stepan had 17 goals and 40 assists this year. Prust went for a whopping 6 goals and 7 helpers. So who got the better of this deal? Unless they were willing to have Max Pacioretty risk injury and suspension, then Montreal had a lot more to gain from this than New York. Typical Montreal.

The bottom line was that this was a premeditated and desperate move by a team that was facing certain elimination on the road. Montreal was about to go down three games to none, so they obviously conspired to take out anyone in a blue shirt who can put the puck in the net. Obviously.

So if a Bruins player does something like this, then I pretty much take whatever punishment happens. Earlier this season Sean Thornton beat Brooks Orpik like he was Birmingham police officer trying to keep a black guy from registering to vote. I’m actually on record for saying that his 15 game suspension was perfectly reasonable. Because when you’re in the wrong, you’re in the wrong.

But that’s because I’m from Massachusetts and thus I’m a reasonable human being. But in Montreal there is no reason. Only yahooism. I really, truly felt like even their fan base would have to look at that hit and say, “Yea, there’s no possible way I can defend that.” But I forgot I was dealing with the biggest bunch of ass clowns in the Western Hemisphere. On their Facebook page I saw moronic comment after moronic comment about the two game suspension Prust received today:

It simply doesn’t get any more Montreal than my girl Stacey here. People should be screaming abut this? That’s the standard Montreal rationale when they don’t get their way. Chara doesn’t get suspended for a clean hit on Pacioretty? Better call the cops. Prust is suspended for an obviously late and dirty head shot? Start screaming.

Yea because Montreal can’t win this series without Brandon fucking Prust. Who will man the right side of their fourth line for 8 minutes a game now?

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 7.39.32 PM

Get off the ice if you can’t take a hit? Dude, your favorite team is the Montreal fucking Canadiens. Do you realize what a hypocrite you are? Montreal – a team that prides itself in falling down and getting power plays. A team that frowns upon physical play. A team that thinks the Bruins are a bunch of ogres and bullies. Now all of a sudden your philosophy is “get off the ice if you can’t take a hit?” You realize that would result in ZERO Canadiens left on the ice right?

Screen Shot 2014-05-23 at 7.53.09 PM

So it was dirty, but only in the sense that it was late, which makes it dirty. Got it.

You gotta love how all of a sudden Canadiens’ fans fancy themselves the bruisers of the NHL. I wanted to know how they could possibly pretend to justify the Prust hit, while still demanding that the Chara-Pacioretty hit was dirty, so I asked them:

Oh OK. How exactly do you ALMOST end up in a wheel chair? What does that even mean anyway?

What Montreal fans are most fired up about is that Prust is getting two games, while Kreider got nothing for his incidental run in with Carey Price, which knocked the Habs goalie out for the series:

Who the fuck names these people? I swear Montreal is some sort of bizarro world. What planet do these people come from where they actually have convinced themselves that Prust launching himself at a defenseless goal scorer is the same thing as Kreider accidentally falling into the goalie. Not that Mona, Sadjo, or Sonia actually watches sports, but if they did they would’ve noticed that Kreider made a nice move on EmelinScreen Shot 2014-05-19 at 11.06.45 PM

split the defense

and crash into Carey Price.

The fact that people believe that Kreider and Prust’s actions were somehow comparable proves only one thing – their drugs up in Canada are way, way better than our drugs in the states.

Montreal fans don’t “fancy” themselves as the bruisers of the league. Montreal has a history when in comes to enforcers, too, you know. It’s not like people discover it for the first time.

Before the enactment of the instigator rule, Montreal had some of the best enforcers of the leagues , noticeably Chris Nilan and then John Kordic. These guys were pretty popular and Nilan, a proud Boston native, currently lives in Montreal, hosts a radio show and is and always will be forever beloved by the whole fanbase.

We just appreciate a player who stands up for the team. Is that really surprising?

Sooo… remember when O Reilly kicked Nilan’s ass?

No, but I’m glad you do. You need it.

It’s a nice ray of light for you in what was 50 years of complete and utter Canadiens playoff domination over the Bruins. Yeah, I’ll give you that one.

About Kreider… he already has a history (Anderson, Fleury and now Price, as well as some incidents in the minor leagues).

Not totally his fault though. Players all told to drive the net, go hard to the net, etc. He’s simply doing what is preached. And most teams have players who do that, including my beloved Canadiens.

Of course, his plan A is to score. But it’s pretty obvious what his plan B is.

Now, when he does it to Rask or any Boston netminder, I will come here and see whether the tune has changed. Of course, your post then might very well be about the Habs fans reactions on the topic, somehow because watching Habs fans on FACEBOOK seems to be your passion.

This might be the most biased article I have seen in my entire life. Rangers fans are gonna have to keep it together and not a have an emotional breakdown over US Dream Teamer Derek Stepan. This article is awful and quite frankly due to it’s location on the website I negatively rate the website for putting this pathetic content up. Hope the Habs win now not only to show the Rangers fans wrong, but to put the Rangers back where they belong, Out of cup talk.

btw, the writer of this article is just another NYR fanboy that probably has only started watching hockey this year and has not a damn clue about the sport.

You are helpless, my friend. So you’re quoting a couple of fans just to prove your point. Of course, some are going to defend the hit. It’s a WIDE fan base. Of course, some are gonna complain when we’re on the receiving end.

How long have you been paying attention to the Habs? 6 years?

Since 2002, I can’t remember one playoff run that has not seen an important Canadiens player go down to a questionable hit. Yet, before Prust, I don’t remember one single instance where a Hab injured another player in the playoffs. Darn, isn’t it what most people say of the Habs, that they are too soft?

You are very predictable, indeed, Habswise.

I’m sure you remember the Gryba hit on Eller last season. You remember Pacioretty. You probably won’t remember Markov who was taken out by Cooke in the Eastern finals of 2010, or Koivu who almost lost an eye to Justin Williams in 2006 and was done for the playoffs, and I’m sure you won’t remember the 2002 hit on Zednik by McLaren from the Bruins. You might remember Halpern (who was booed by Boston while lying down, concussed.

    Take a pill. Or two.

I know how you feel. I was a Nordiques fan around 1992-94 and hated the Canadiens. Painful times.
