Meet Dan Gascoyne, Carver resident and wannabe Manny Mo. He spends a lot of time trying to troll on the local pages, mainly Carver Helping Carver, Threw Up in Fall River and The Kingston page.

While he usually meets with little success he managed a (relative) homerun a couple days ago with this post;

Georgie is a lady of a certain age who has been working at the Carver center DD for about 70 years. She is a nice lady who knows the regulars and always has a (mostly toothless) smile for everyone. Per Danny the Bog Dolphin Georgie can’t wear her Santa hat any more. Now, in most towns this wouldn’t even be worth mentioning because most places have much more to worry about (heroin, meter maids, school bullies and kidnappings that never happened to name a few things) than the headgear allowed at the local Dunkies. Carver however is pretty much the Peyton Place of Massachusetts and since there’s nothing going on there now that the cranberry picking is over the locals need a cause to rally around.

Naturally after reading Dan’s post the good folk of Carver and surrounding towns did what any rational people would do, ask intelligent question and get the real story before anything else. (I couldn’t even type that with a straight face). JK!!! They took it as gospel and started trying to save the world from the evil DD managers.

You know people are serious when they start using a hashtag!

I think everyone was grateful to Dan for posting the phone number to the Dunks that was charged with the heinous crime, because what else would a small-town resident with too much time on their hands do besides call the Dunks to whine?

The responses of the masses are a veritable case study in your typical small town characters.  There is the obligatory person who supports whatever president is in office by using hyperbole that really makes no sense like our friend here Jack.

Honestly Jack, what did you do before Trump was in office? Were you forced to not say Merry Christmas, did “they” make sure you had a “Holiday tree” and not a Christmas tree? These questions will keep me up at night.

And Annmarie, stop being logical will ya? There’s no room for that round here! Avast, there will be no more of your “Happy holidays” BS with Trump and Captain Jack Ahearn on the job!

Then there is the “I know more than you but won’t say what I know so find out for yourself” chick, in this case (Aunt) Flo, who called the Dunkin Donuts in question but won’t say what she was told. You just have to call yourself!!!

Guess I will just have to get used to disappointment because does this look like the type of person who will let you know what the Dunks employee told her?

It’s OK though, she’s not a regular mom, she’s a “Christian Mom”

Then we have Lynn Deane who must have graduated from MIT with a 4.0 GPA. She is the granny who posts lots of cat pictures and can’t quite figure out how to not post some of her pictures upside down, but no one messes with Christmas on her watch.

True Lynne, but we aren’t talking about a Manger being taken down on the town green. This is about a Santa hat. Jesus, Santa – same thing. All good Christians know that worshipping a fictional character that 10 year olds know does not exist is what Jesus wants us to do. Lynne is actually from Middleboro, but as a concerned citizen of the world likes to keep Carver on the straight and narrow.

Then we have the people of ACTION coming up with solutions to the problem from singing Christmas carols to flash mobs, to (of course) calling the news. Whatever it takes to make sure the war on Christmas is lost.

Heather is Lynne’s daughter in law and like Lynne won’t let Satan win this one! Not today Devil!

Get on that flash mob Gerri! Only 3 days until Christmas!

If only there were two separate Dollar stores in town that sell Santa hats! It could only improve Cheryl’s style to wear one, but typical of many a small-town activist she just wants to tell us what she would do, not actually do anything.

Adam here is all for calling channel 4, or more likely, having someone else call so he doesn’t have to be bugged with the pesky questions any legit reporter would ask.

Quick call the news, someone may not be allowed to wear a hat!

Danny wasn’t going to call himself but wanted to get Fox 25 on the job.

After reading the Facebook post I decided to do some heavy-duty research (have a friend go by) and see if was indeed true that the Carver center Dunkin Donuts is waging a war on Christmas. Turns out there was an employee sporting a Santa hat, Christmas donuts, some decorations and my friend was given a hearty “Merry Christmas” as she paid. As I sit here typing I can’t help but wonder if it was a result of Danny’s call to action or just a true Christmas Miracle. Time will tell I am sure.

Dunkin has Christmas donut boxes, munchkin boxes and the coffee cups say JOY on them in red and green letters.

If the Christmas decorations in the store and the Santa hats on the girls working didn’t get your attention.

What.A.Doofus. Yes, you Dan Gascoyne. Town fool.

The people living in carver really need to focus on the fact that 90% of the population is hooked on heroin, adderall and Xanax. Such a small town. One which use to be a nice place to raise your children. In the last ten years opioids and then dope has torn that small city to shreds. So many young people have died, many people also, over dose multiple times are saved, just continue use. It’s really sad when you can only complain about a stupid hat. The people in that city got a lot more to worry about. That town has gone to hell. I’m sure before the new year there will be a few over doses and I am sure that one of them, if not all lol, will more than likely be wearing a Santa hat. When this happens what will be more important, the hat. Or the person on deaths door? Fight the right battles

Every town has their issues, stop being a douche to try to make a point
