The Massachusetts State Police is not the only law enforcement agency that’s been harboring known criminals.

This is Corrections Officer Dana Lymon, who also used to moonlight as a bouncer in New Bedford:

In 2012 he was suspended for 30 days for the following infractions:

  • Falling asleep while his stripper girlfriend, who had stolen his car earlier in the day, was in the house with him, leaving the keys to his gun safe readily accessible for her to take.
  • Keeping someone else’s guns in his DOC issued gun safe in his house.
  • Waking up and finding that gun, along with his friend’s guns (which he was holding onto since his friend was not licensed to carry), had been stolen by the stripper, along with his car once again.
  • Instead of calling the cops, which any reasonable person would do, he then borrowed a friend’s car, met up with his bouncer friend “JR,” who just so happened to be an ex-con and known drug dealer by the New Bedford PD, and they went hunting for the stripper.
  • They crossed state lines into Rhode Island and eventually went back to New Bedford where they found her.
  • Lymon pointed his DOC issued gun at her, but did not fire and she drove away.
  • The stripper later used his gun to shoot at a guy six times.
  • Lymon was interviewed by internal affairs and lied many times, including about pointing the gun at the stripper.

Yea, apparently you don’t lose your job for that. You just get a 30 day suspension. And not only that, he APPEALED the decision!! Read all about it here.

When you appeal a decision like this you go in front of the Civil Service Commission. Here’s what they had to say:

Not only did they reject his appeal, they basically said that they wanted to give him a harsher penalty. In their own words it was “dangerous and mind boggling” to keep him on as a corrections officer.

This was in late 2013.

But keeping his job was apparently not enough. In 2015 he was rewarded for his work by receiving the Employee of the Year Award:

Can’t make this stuff up. He is one of over 5,000+ employees for the DOC. This was the best they had to offer apparently. He was better than every single other employee operating our jails.

Charlie Baker claimed he was gonna come in and reform everything. I recall DCF being at the top of that list. But it’s pretty much been business as usual. He immediately exonerated his appointed public safety commissioner Dan Bennett for his role in the Biblowgate, without conducting so much as an investigation. But he’s really no different from the last guy in many ways.

Less than three months later in January of 2017 Dana Lymon was invited by Charlie Baker to be an honored guest at the State of the Commonwealth speech, which is basically Tall Deval and the State Legislature patting themselves on the back for being so wonderful. You can see him alongside Union President John Mograss at around the 10:30 mark:

The Union could’ve chosen any one of their 5,000+ member CO’s. They chose the guy who just a couple years earlier was suspended for 30 days because he let his stripper girlfriend steal his car, his gun, his friend’s guns (which were illegally stored in a DOC issued gun safe), met up with his drug dealing ex-con friend, crossed state lines with the DOC issued gun, pointed the gun at the stripper, and then later she used one of his other guns which he was storing illegally to shoot a guy six times.

He’s still employed by the DOC and has gotten steady raises each year since the incident. In 2012 he made $68K. In 2016 he made $90K. This year his base pay is $77,555, and if he does his usual amount in overtime it will be a record setting year for him.

So the moral of the story here is that Charlie Baker is no different from Deval Patrick. He protects his friends like Dana Lymon and Daniel Bennett. It’s been over a week now and he has yet to comment on the systematic problem that exists when a drug dealer gets into the State Police Academy. We continue to see children dying who are under DCF care while they investigate a hockey team in Andover. The only thing he hasn’t done is buy new drapes.

With leadership like this up at the top is it any wonder why this state is filled with so much blatant corruption?

Numerous errors in this story but I’ll call you out on only one part for now.
That pic you put up of Lymon getting the award is from the early 2000’s.
That man giving him the award is former Commissioner Maloney (or Maroney, I forget) and he’s been retired from that position for at least 12 years.
It wasn’t an Employee of the Year award, either. My understanding is it had to do with a charity program that the Commonwealth administers.
You’re getting the “facts” from somewhere and maybe it’s time to question the source and their motivation. The DOC, like most agencies, has its various factions which lead to some interaction that can get nasty and vindictive.
I’m not going to comment on the outcome of the Civil Service hearing. It is what it is, even if it is a mindblower.
I enjoy your blog articles and, for the most part, you seem to get it right.
Just wanted to set part of the record straight on this one.

One day a confused young zebra asked his father if he was white with black stripes or black with white stripes?

His father said he must climb to the top of the mountain and ask the all knowing ancient zebra.

After climbing the mountain and finding the ancient zebra he asked “What am I?”. The ancient zebra declared “YOU ARE WHAT YOU ARE.”

Still confused the young zebra returned to his father looking for answers.

His father asked him what the wise zebra told him and then said oh that’s easy son you’re white with black stripes.

The son asked how do you know and his dad said if you were black with white stripes he would have said “YOU AM WHATZ YOU AM!”.

Giving this guy an award checks off some politically correct boxes the Governor needs to check off from time to time. Doesn’t matter what kind of employee he. However, it only sounds like he associates with losers and has poor judgment.

So glad I moved just over the border to NH back in 1998. None of my income tax money enables this crap anymore.

    February 27, 2018 at 11:03 am

As I said in a previous story about the antics of the MSP, public sector unions ARE the swamp.

You think this guy appealed his suspension on his own? He fucked up, got appropriately smoked, cried to his steward, and the union decided to file an appeal for him. This is commonplace.

There are thousands of substandard, if not outright dangerous, state employees who should be out of their jobs for shit like this. Are they gone? Nope. They are protected, and after a period of time, their disciplinary records get purged. Many agencies have a two-year clause, where any disciplinary action gets removed from their files after two years of “good behavior.” That sets shit like this in motion. This douche should have been canned when the infractions happened. Instead, he gets recognized by the Governor a few years later. It’s totally fucked.

Instead of helping weed out irresponsible pieces of shit, like this tool, unions will fight to the death to keep them. It makes no sense.

I guess that I shouldn’t be suprised that the Civil Service Commission doesn’t know the difference between a “semi-automatic” and an “automatic” weapon. Findings of Fact #11.

You sound like you know a lot. Sound like it but that don’t make it so.
Are you 100% sure the union filed that? Did they represent him?
Are you sure, as in “bet your life on it” sure?
Your opinion is strong but your knowledge and reading comprehension are weak. Go back and review the material.

    • My apologies.

Charlie Baker showed his true colors when he appointed retired statie sergeant Jim McGinn as the colonel of the environmental police just because he drove him during the campaign. TB should talk to McGinn’s ex wife and neighbors to see what a lowlife he is. Now he stands to get a much bigger pension then he had as a statie.

Stripper girlfriend is an oxymoron. Stripper girlfriend experience is a real thing but it’s expensive.

I am offended. No black man should ever be called out for the crimes they commit. That is racist and we will fight this inequality.

I think this says more about Baker than the C.O. He is what he is.

I remember Charlie Bakers first campaign TV ad.

He’s sitting in his yard with his daughter stating how he’s for a women’s right to chose.

This is right out of the starting gate. In a state where taking that away is never going to happen. I knew right then and there that he was going to be a go along/get along guy. He hasn’t disappointed me in that regard yet. Might as well have given Patrick another term as I don’t see much difference.

I guess I’m going to be the selfie critic again on the C.O..

“Here’s me in a state van taking a picture of myself”
“Here’s me in the gym taking a picture of myself”
“Here’s me in Pats gear taking a picture of myself”

If you want a story on real correctional officer D-Bags, look up “lackawanna county jail guards” in PA. NEPA (North East PA) corruption and sweeping under the carpet makes Mass. look small time.

Still trying to figure out out wwy’s point. Best I can figure is low autistic on the spectrum brought up by bigots. Rarely on point. You say “Nice day today, isn’t it”. You get “Kikes, jews”. You say “You think Gronk is going to retire?” You get “Kike bastards, they own all the banks”.

At least try to weave your problem into the subject

At least we don’t have kike cops like sheriff kike in Florida with his pussy police. Jews should stick to getting criminals off, prescribe medications, and perform abortions or diddle children all kikes are one or the other. If only hitler did more.
