As you know Turtleboy Sports is a world renowned Worcester rap critic. And we’re not very easy to please. Sorry, but if you wanna make it in the rap game, you have to be ready for some constructive criticism. But we’re 99% we just discovered the next big thing. And I can say with certainty, that this is the greatest Worcester rap video I’ve ever seen. It’s by a kid named Nate Ford, who’s a fraternity brother from Lambda Chi at WPI. I didn’t think it was possible to make a slum sociable through Highland Street look fun, but somehow he found a way. This song might get stuck in your head all day:

“I tend to be a lot more optimistic, you could dwell on the negative but I don’t miss it, people call it a sickness, that’s why I’m the realest cat in the business.”

This song makes me wanna hug people and dance. And then maybe go for a bone ride through Elm Park. When we start up our Turtleboy podcast in the near future, we were gonna lead in with Feeling Goooooooddddd. We might have to switch it up now though. That’s gotta be the entrance song right there. Love Club. I love everything about it.

See, why is it so hard to make a rap song that isn’t about killing people, making that money, or acting like captain badass? Can’t we all just go to the Love Club and have a good time?

I mean, look how chill this dude is. First of all, he’s wearing Vans and short shorts:

Secondly, he rides around one of the grimier parts of Worcester in the back of a pickup truck with his boys

You know who does that? Someone who gives zero fucks about what you think about him. Someone who’s too busy making music to make enemies.

It’s like, hey, I was gonna be a total meatstick and act all hard, but then I decided to go skateboarding with my buddies instead:

One of my favorite parts of the video is how he’s slowly walking down Highland Street, enjoying life to the fullest, and he’s literally walking faster than traffic:

That’s exactly why Highland Street was ranked #1 in our worst streets in Worcester to drive through blog. It takes a lot to walk through that part of town with a smile on your face. He must’ve just gotten a Blue Calzone at Boomer’s.

One of my favorite parts is when he’s walking by an apartment that is so Worcester it hurts:

Four satellite dishes, and bedsheets for curtains. It doesn’t get any more Worcester than that.

Also get me this shirt.

Because the Lambda Chi Watermelon Bash sounds like the funnest thing you can possibly go to in Worcester. I’ll make you a deal Nate Ford, Turtleboy will promote the shit out of you if you do two things – 1) you gotta wear one of our Turtleboy tanktops or I Am Turtleboy shirts in your next video that you shoot in and around the Turtleboy Statue, and 2) get me that Watermelon shirt.

The smarter they are, the more in control of their lives they are. They give less fucks about wasteful social wars and focus on stuff that matters. Then they accomplish awesome stuff like this and do great things with their lives. The trash I got wrapped up in gave too many social fucks that mean nothing. Everybody’s got beef with everybody else and it’s a pointless competition. Ever see an actual nerd give a fuck? Not one of those “I wear glasses and call myself ‘such a nerd'” nerds. The legit ones that are WPI kids. I was going to bail on my Calc homework tonight and feed my old habits of creeping people of the past on FB to make myself feel better. But nah, I think I’ll listen to this a bit more, do what matters, and keep making up for dropping out of that school years ago because I started to give to much of a fuck about stupid stuff with trashy friends who liked wasting time and never accomplished more than shit work and pumping out kids. My calc III prof at WPI always talked about how musical talent is related to mathematical talent, which explains why the song is so nice I guess. Thanks Nate, I needed a reminder about what I left behind. You nerds are still awesome.

I saw a college kid fall off his skateboard three times in less than a hundred yards at like 8:50 this morning while stuck in Highland Street traffic. Worcester kids only fall when they do tricks. This kid was trying to get from A to B. He was rocking some kind of Newport meets hipster duds with shades. Every time he fell he stayed down for at least two seconds -never tried to roll on through it. Once back on the board he looked like he was surfing. I’m obviously late on this observation but the law office district is becoming a rich kid off campus district.

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a step forward as long as it doesn’t affect my wait at The Bean Counter.
