City Of Worcester Decides Not To Plow, Geniuses Can’t Figure Out How To Shovel Out Car

So did the City of Worcester just decide not to plow at all after the storm? Was it not big enough or something? Because it’s like a freaking slip n’ slide out there. Absolute nightmare. And this snow isn’t cute like the last snow. At least the first time the snow was powdery and delicious. Now it’s heavy and tastes like gypsy tears. Everywhere I went today I saw morons stuck in embankments of snow. It really boggles my mind why people choose to drive cars that don’t have four wheel drive. Like, if you have a car where you require momentum to get up a hill, then you need to get a new car. We’ve all been there before. You’re trying to get up one of Worcester’s hills and you have some momentum when all of a sudden some dooshnozzle is coming barreling down the hill towards you. You have no choice but to stop and then you can’t get going again. It’s insanity. I don’t know why you people put yourselves through such hell. When I hit the gas pedal, I go. Period. Anything less is uncivilized.

Anyway the reason I bring this up is because I saw someone post this video in the “Your Probably From Worcester MA If….” Facebook page.

Hey knuckleheads, just because you’re driving an SUV doesn’t mean you shouldn’t shovel. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people. This supposedly takes place on Houghton Street. Houghton Street is flat. And what exactly was the plan here? The car is obviously stuck in the snow because the back tire can’t go anywhere. Here’s a thought – try shoveling the snow around the back tire. Might help. Or just have your buddy repeatedly thrust himself on your hood. That worked out pretty well too.

The real stroke of genius came when the other friend starts pushing at the driver’s side door:

I’m not a physicist or anything, but how exactly did they think that pushing the car sideways – a direction the tires can’t physically move in – would get the car out of the snow?

Then when the rocket scientists finally decide to go for the shovels they start digging out the front wheel. Which should do a lot of good considering that it’s clear as day that the back tire is the one that is stuck.

The video abruptly ends shortly after this and the car is still stuck. I assume it’s still there. But the bottom line is, I am beyond perplexed how you can live in Massachusetts and not have snow figured out yet. It’s really not that complicated. Rookies.

As to the cracks about what kinds of cars people who “live” here drive, some of us didn’t intend to get stuck here an entire winter semester, have cars that are FWD and are JUST FINE, thank you very much, in NORMAL amounts of snow like out in the Rocky Mountain States — !! And weren’t about to trade in a paid-for car for one with payments due, just for, what, ONE semester?!?! This sounds pretty much like “don’t come back here from other states with THAT car…” sort of nonsense. Yeah, I agree that if you PURPOSELY live here YEAR-ROUND then yes you should probably be driving a snowplow or snowblower instead of a normal 1.5L, 4-cylinder, 40mpg “econobox” with front wheel drive.

All anyone with a 2wd vehicle needs is a good set of snow tires. I have awd vehicles and I still put snows on them. It’s nice to be able to brake and turn in the snow as well as go.

I have no idea how the buses are going to make it for school tomorrow. Did Bob Moylan take all the salt and sand with him when he left???? There’s more salt in a school lunch than the streets of Worcester.
