Did you work hard today? Did you get in your car after another long day at the office to go back to your lovely home that you work tirelessly to pay for? Because if you did, and you live in Worcester you more than likely had your commute interrupted by a bunch of nudniks trying to make a point about something that happened 1,500 miles from here.

In case you’re living in a cave and don’t have wifi, all across the country it’s become all the rage to stand up and protest for some kid who got killed after getting in a physical altercation with a white police officer. Like we’ve said before here at Turtleboy Sports, we don’t know if Darren Wilson was justified in shooting Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Neither do you. Therefore anyone who’s outraged that Officer Wilson isn’t gonna be given the electric chair is by definition a yahoo.

So what do you when something you know very little about doesn’t go the way you want it to go? Call it a day and move on with your life, right? Yea, that’s what normal people would do. But when you’re a Clark student or some “community activist” then you do whatever the fuck you feel like doing and everyone else can go fuck themselves. That was the mentality of the mob that took over the streets of Worcester today.

From the TelegramLed by Robert Blackwell Gibbs, a barrel-chested, bearded Main South man with a bullhorn and a “big mouth,” the group of students and community activists marched from the university campus near Claremont Street to Lincoln Square. Protesters stopped multiple times along the two-mile route, sitting down in the road for several minutes each time and stalling traffic in all directions until police persuaded them to resume marching.

Of course Robert Blackwell Gibbs was leading the charge. Not like he has a real job or anything. Because TONS of normal, 40 year old men are available to lead a march down Main Street at 1:30 PM on a Tuesday. We asked the members of the Turtleboy Sports Revolution to send in any and all pictures they had from today’s events and as usual they responded in force. Here are the geniuses at work:

How pissed would you be if you’r the can man in this picture? There is a delicious bounty of cans in the trash cans across the street and you can’t get to it because of these hippy kids protesting something that happened 1,500 miles away.

Hey you guys showed that guy in his car who is probably trying to get home to his family who runs this town!! He’ll think twice before he kills another unarmed black teenager. Oh wait, you mean the man or woman driving this car had absolutely nothing to do with Mike Brown, Darren Wilson, or Ferguson? Oh well, not my problem!!

Hey geniuses – just for the record you accomplished absolutely nothing today. Literally NOTHING. My dog today took three dumps, a couple naps, and then barked at the mailman. She had a more productive day than all you combined.

All you did was make life difficult for decent, hard working people who wanted to pick their kids up and be with their families. You directly threatened the lives of countless others by blocking a busy intersection because Lincoln Square is about a quarter mile from a major hospital. People in need of medical care were directly threatened by your meaningless protest about…..something or other. But, fuck them though right? Their right to safety isn’t nearly as important as your right to sit your fat ass down in the middle of a public street.

And you KNOW that Worcester State women’s studies professor Sonya Conner simply HAD to show up for this one. Not like she had to grade papers or anything….

You have not struggled,” Sonya Conner, a professor of sociology and women’s studies at Worcester State University, told white students at the 1 p.m. Clark campus rally that preceded the march. “We have not struggled.”

Ms. Conner said students have to be willing to struggle in the form of nonviolent, direct action in order to “literally rewrite” the pages of history.

“We now have to take it up a notch,” she said, and capitalize on the momentum striking Worcester and other cities across the country.

Ferguson riots worcester protest

Ya see that right there? She represents everything that is wrong with academia. She is a “women’s studies” professor, which is really useful for people that seek to become radical professors and want to some day teach women’s studies. As long as that’s your career goal you’ll be fine.

The problem with college is that so many people go there without a plan, and they leave without a plan. They waste their time with bullshit majors like this, graduate with tens of thousands of dollars in debt, and then expect to be handed a job when they get out of college. Then when reality bitch slaps them in the face they start to “Occupy Wall Street” and blame Big Oil for the fact that they possess ZERO actual desirable skills for any potential employer.

And let me get this straight Dr. Sonya, you want your minions to “literally rewrite history” by marching through Main South and preventing decent, honest people from getting home to their families? Because that’s the type of shit I read about in history ALL THE TIME. First we learned in school about Martin Luther King organizing protests to fight segregation. Then in the next chapter we learned about bonehead Clark kids on their parents dime who walked through Main South on a Tuesday and made everyone late. Fucking historical shit right there.

ulQ-after-hearing-that-despite-the-fact-that-we-all-now-know-michael-brown

So I’m really, really confused what the end game is here. Because this just seems like more Occupy nonsense. Protesting for the sake of protesting. What do they think could possibly come out of this? Maybe the grand jury in Ferguson will reconvene and say, “Hold on your honor – we didn’t wanna prosecute Officer Wilson, but then we read about these hippies in Worcester who parked their hippy asses in front of traffic for a couple hours. We’d like to strap Officer Wilson into the electric chair now because they made us realize how racist he is.”

Do they honestly think a single person became sympathetic to their cause (whatever exactly that is) today because of what they did? Are they that naive that they believe people who are trying to get home to drive their kids to basketball practice suddenly had an epiphany while waiting in traffic for an hour? No. Just no. If anything all you did was take people who had no opinion on the matter and make them hate you.

Then there was this Rhodes Scholar:

In a heated speech, senior Florcy Romero railed against students who decided not to leave class and come to the rally.

“You won’t stand with these people, but you’ll be the first ones to learn about them in theory classes,” she said, urging people to go out and see the problems facing African-Americans in the rockier sections of Worcester.

Yea, if you’re a Clark student who wants to go to class and learn things then you’re a fucking idiot. The only way you can learn things is by following around this creepy 40 year old man with a bullhorn:

B3T4laiIEAAPqUo

Then there was shit like this:

“No justice, no peace, no racist police” was another refrain students repeated often as they marched in front of police. They also took umbrage to police asking them to stop blocking traffic, repeating the phrase, “Whose streets? Our streets” for much of the march.

You’re upset that the police are asking you to stop blocking traffic? Yea, you should be able to do whatever you want. Fuck everyone else and their stupid families. Fuck emergency responders and firefighters trying to help the citizens of Worcester who need it. Nothing at all selfish about that.

Seriously though, fuck these people. I wish I had a nicer way to say it, but fuck them. “Whose streets? Our streets?” Yea ya see, I pay property taxes and I’ve lived in Worcester my whole life. I paid for those streets so that cars and buses and trucks can safely use them to get from point A to point B. They belong to me and the other taxpayers of Worcester.

They don’t even come remotely close to belonging to you. Your mommy and daddy pay an insane amount of money for you to go and major in women’s studies, and then your school gives ZERO to the City of Worcester because they don’t have to pay taxes. Because if they did have to pay taxes then your professors wouldn’t be able to work 25 hours a week and collect six figure salaries.

The irony of these dolts is that they don’t realize how good the Worcester Police are to them. You all made life miserable for the decent citizens of Worcester today. You didn’t peacefully assemble. You purposely impacted people’s lives in a negative manner simply because you wanted to. Because you’re selfish. And instead of beating you senseless with a club or hauling your asses to the drunk tank for Thanksgiving weekend, they let you have your stupid, meaningless rally. All they asked you to do was occasionally stop blocking major intersections. But why should you have to do that though? Fuck the po-lice and their dumbass rules.

Check out these carpetbaggers:

I don’t know their names and I don’t wanna know their names. All I know is that they’re lucky my turtle didn’t need to go to the vet today because I wouldn’t be nearly as kind as the WPD were on these hippies. But hey, at least they got the chance to alleviate some of that white guilt!!

Then you had idiots like this bragging about the inconvenience they caused all of us today:
Screen Shot 2014-11-25 at 8.26.22 PM

Yea you showed us who’s boss!! People around here will think twice about going out for a gallon of milk next time!!

My favorite picture that a Turtleboy rider sent in today was this gem:

10678668_10203331826952732_3800386282043708108_n

Absolutely priceless. I was totally gonna go to that rally bro, but like, one alarm isn’t enough to get my ass out of bed by 1:00 PM. Then there’s the other girl, who is obviously very concerned about social justice and racial prejudice. However, she’s even more concerned about a much more important issue – her iPhone. Because sometimes when you’re fixing racism in Worcester your iPhone becomes collateral damage.

Feel free to share your thoughts to keep the conversation going.

This blog is poorly written, riddled with grammatical errors and filled with senseless ramblings that do nothing more than further someone’s own backwards understanding of how anything works in this country. If you would like to be taken seriously try presenting articles from an unbiased and well thought out standpoint instead of reducing this blog to nothing more than another idiotic mouthpiece with which to spew condescending remarks about something you really have no idea about. It’s hard to take anything you say seriously when there are grammatical errors in the first line of the title….

    November 27, 2014 at 9:34 am

alright so I’m a student at Clark and I did not attend the rally at 1 but did attend the night before and want to say that the point was to disturb the peace and cause traffic because that’s THE ONLY TIME people listen. People (as you say about Clark students) are so wrapped up in themselves that unless something is staring them in the face they do not know about it. You say unless someone has been living under a rock they know about the shooting which couldn’t be more incorrect. Everyone in this country watches the news? Yeah right. Yes the Mike Brown incident happened miles away but living in Worcester you see inequality like that everyday and it’s the job of people who want change to cause unrest until change occurs. If there were only protests in Ferguson everyone would wrap it up to “those crazy people in the south are whining again.” But if people around the nation say something the situation will get more attention. So despite your degrading, whiny post about us you are actually helping our cause by spreading the message so thank you. Next time maybe we’ll invite you so you can stop acting like that pissed off friend no one invited to the party and then shits on it to make themselves feel better for being left out.

For more than a century, Clark has made and continues to make a great contribution to Worcester, to both its institutions and its people. In fact, this community-minded attitude increases in scope and dedication year after year, and Clark students are brought into the commitment to Worcester’s development and its quality as a city from the first minutes of their arrival on campus, even before they arrive, when they attend open houses and learn about Clark’s dedication to making a difference to Worcester. I am sorry that the person who wrote this angry screed is not able to recognize and appreciate this. Any potentially meaningful points he might have liked to make on the subjects he cares about are drowned out by the rage and mean-spiritedness with which he expresses them. I salute Clark, its faculty and students, and I am certain that its student body will become leaders and innovators in many fields and toward many important social goals and strivings. (I am both a Clark alum, undergraduate and graduate, and a Clark parent).

Not all Clark students are rich nor do their parents pay for a damn thing. Did you know that the majority of those students have scholarships/loans/financial aid or a combination of all three? Yeah, why not educate yourself a bit before spewing bullshit and crying and moaning about things YOU also don’t know about. While blocking traffic by sitting on the ground does seem a bit useless, at least they are trying to draw attention for change. What have you done? Makes perfect sense out of all the colleges in Worcester this idea would come from the Clark students. Most students at schools like Worcester State have things like jobs or families they have to worry about. On average its only the Clark and maybe WPI students who have rich mommies and daddies that can pay $40k a year for them to go to school and fuck around….. WPI students usually actually have a lot of difficult coursework though.
So yes, not surprising at all that the richest spoiled brats in Worcester would block traffic all day. They don’t understand things like having a job that’s paid hourly….. or having to pick up your kids from school.
They like wearing their 2nd hand shirts with their $500 jeans cause they think it looks cool. And apparently when your a rich white spoiled brat, pretending like you know anything about a racial situation half way across the country is the cool thing to do as well.

    • Aaron
      November 26, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Try learning a bit about Clark before you spew bullshit. Clark has over 60% of its students volunteer regularly. They offer FULL scholarships to qualifying students from Worcester. They’ve redeveloped Crystal Pond, invite community members to attend ALL lectures and events at the university and helped fund Worcester public libraries. What have you done today? Oh yes, you’ve bitched nonsense on this assholes ignorant article. Would you have said the same thing to MLK and others who nonviolently protested in our country to make us a better society or would you rather we all sit on our butts watching tv and not caring about the social ills plaguing our country? The reason people are so upset is because of the injustice of Darren Wilson not even being tried in the court of law. If this was white person that was murdered, do you honestly believe the policeman wouldn’t have been tried? If you don’t, you are either dumb or delusional.

I see Turtleboy’s point, but he just sounds more petty and pissy with each paragraph. You weren’t inconvenienced by this, dude. You publicly stated that you weren’t anywhere near it, and asked for people who were stuck in traffic to take pictures for you, so you could bitch about it anyway (a useless protest!). It doesn’t matter to them or me if we where there or not! They see it happening every day! Although Mass has decent policing, alot of cities in the U.S don’t. We send out kids to major cities throughout the world while in college. They are seeing this and this is why they are standing up! Do you think all these college kids would rather be home visiting their families! Instead I say hello, give my daughter a big hug n then I get a bunch of kids coming for dinner planning their protests. I had no idea what what going on while these kids were preparing for this. Kids that came from Boston, Amherst, and out of state. Stop bashing Clark! Not nice. No one is commiting crimes! They are doing exactly what we taught them to do! Stand for what they believe in!

If they burned buildings they would’ve been bashed just as bad. They peacefully protested and they’re a bunch of “useless human beings”. Be damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Pretty sure protesting is legal and they did it the right way. Oh, and the commute was not nearly as bad as this article makes it. It took maybe an extra 15 minutes to get home, oh and its 2 days before thanksgiving., would have happened REGARDLESS. Hey turtle boy, you should write an article bashing thanksgiving travelers because they disrupt the city traffic when good honest city livers are just trying to travel home within the city.

If they really wanted to make a point they could hold assembly at a park, field or practically anywhere else that doesn’t involve stopping traffic and becoming a public nuisance. Its pretty telling that they have to intrude upon people and force their OPINION down others throats. Yelling mantras and holding signs doesnt convince anyone with a lick of intelligence; feels more like a WWE event.

They cant get home to their perfect houses with thier perfect children and act as if nothing is wrong in America. Poor people who worked hard all day including myself who sat in traffic for hours when we have so much prep to do! Poor officers who had to sit, wait, stand for hours and do nothing because the whole world was watching! You, who act this way, you are part of the problem! Go home and act as if everything is ok and let authorities take care of it in the manner they feel necessary! No! Do you not realize our kids our trying to get our attention!! My daughter came home from college 1600 miles away and protested with clark whom she has many friends there and then went to Boston last night. She is exhausted and ready to sleep but that didn’t matter to her. What matters is her presence as a youth to march with thousands of other people, mostly college students and show her spirit within society. To believe and disagree with our justice system and how they handle certain individuals. Lets face it guys…. if your white son was at a park and playing with a mini toy gun, the first thing the officer would do was talk to the boy and find out where he got it because no white dad or mom would let there son play with a real guy right? Wrong! This 12 year old did not havr to die! This officer could have shot him in hand, arm, leg! He is fucking 12! Lets switch it up!!! What if it was a black man who shoot a 1230year old boy? Now that would be insane! White American would sendhim to ddeath sentence and throw him in general population to be eaten alive! Does anyone get thesr kids point yet?????? They are using these last killing to get our attention! They are trying to tell us that they are tired of us going on with every day lives while young children and teen are dying. This ignorant self centered writer just made me realize how selfish people can be to have that many of our kids making a stand and ur worry about getting home on time!

You are about 10 different shades of stupid aren’t you. What happened 1500 miles in no way affects the city of Worcester. Your hippy, carpetbagging daughter will soon learn that nothing will come from these “protests”. The American judicial system is based on the foundation of Innocent until proven guilty, and if you want that to change, move to North Korea of that toilet that is the Middle East. The police are there to protect the community, that means protect the community from people like you who think it’s ok to stop traffic and put others at risk by standing in the road. Honestly, you’re a poor excuse for a parent and should of taught your children better. Tell her to shave her mangey dreadlocks and get a real major instead of art history and become a contributing member of society.

Well I think you’ve summed it up well. HATE is definitely the answer.

It’s funny first that you say what happened 1,500 miles away has nothing to do with the city of Worcester. It is not that instance people are protesting…if it were only that I don’t think anyone would be saying anything at all. People are protesting because police brutality, and racial profiling happens everywhere. You are clearly white, so you do not understand. But this movement is to show Ferguson, and to show other places where this sort of institutionalized racism exists, that they are standing in solidarity with them. If that means blocking traffic fine, anything that will raise as much attention as is needed to show people that they realize the struggle that black and latino youths have to go through every day and to show the community that they are not willing to stand still and let it happen. Protesting is not the end of this, it is a tool that goes in tandem with creating real change. You are clearly getting older, and thank goodness, because these college kids will be the future lawyers, the future social workers, the future office employees, and they will make better change than you ranting on your social media ever will. The protest wasn’t to ruin your day, you simply happened to be there. No one was targeting you. You are lucky that you have had the chance to work so hard in your life…that you are able to have a nice home to go back to after a day at the office…and that you weren’t shot for playing with a toy at 12 years old.

That’s the thing, of course we care about social injustice, but we weren’t there, we don’t know what happened. I don’t know enough about this to stand in the street blocking traffic. How many of these protesters went out blindly without giving much thought to what they are “fighting for” or what they are hoping to accomplish. Historically, people jumping on the bandwagon for large group causes they don’t understand is not a good thing. This wasn’t about Mark Brown it was about adding “protest” to their liberal arts education bucket list. I wonder if the snow had come early if they all would have come out to “shut it down”. Stand up for what YOU believe in (not your roommate or 500 FB friends) and then act on it effectively. I heard the chanting from my office on Main St where I work as an underpaid social worker. I’d argue I created more change yesterday than any of them did.

Unfortunately, you didn’t even know that the victim’s name is MIKE Brown, not Mark. Your comment is therefor invalidated and your point cannot be heard when you can’t even name one of the major players in the biggest racial incident to occur in the public eye since Trayvon Martin. I think you need to stop reading “turtleboysports” putzy version of ‘news’ and get up on some REAL and insightful types of media so you don’t sound like an idiot.

Little brats like you are the reason people think your protesting is ridiculous! She corrected herself before yu said anything. Take your little transcript from Clark, and put it where the sun doesn’t shine.

I understand a lot of them are going to stay on campus over the holiday weekend as a show of solidarity. Haha, just kidding. Most of them are probably on the way back to Westchester as we speak, (and probably bitching about the traffic).
