SourceHoward Bryant is an author and sports journalist who writes weekly columns for ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine, ESPN, and he appears regularly on ESPN Radio. He has most recently denigrated every police officer in the United States, as well as, their families and millions of hardworking, patriotic Americans by claiming in an article that he wrote that the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” is “staged patriotism,” and arguing that it signals an “authoritarian shift at the ballpark.”

“Why don’t more athletes speak out on behalf of their communities?” Bryant wrote, “Perhaps more of them would if there wasn’t a chilling force looming over them.” and lamented “the smothering effect that staged patriotism and cops singing the national anthem in a time of Ferguson have on player expression.”

“Nobody seems to care much about this authoritarian shift at the ballpark, yet the media and the public are quick to demand accountability from players they consider insufficiently activist. They blame these black players for not speaking up on behalf of their communities, ignoring the smothering effect that staged patriotism and cops singing the national anthem in a time of Ferguson have on player expression. It’s indirectly stifled, while the increasing police pageantry at games sends another clear message: The sentiments of the poor in Ferguson and Cleveland do not matter….While athletes are routinely criticized for “not doing more,” it is conveniently ignored how deeply their employers have mobilized against the most powerless elements of their fan base.”

“Policing is clearly one of the most divisive issues in the country – except in the sports arena, where the post-9/11 hero narrative has been so deeply embedded within its game-day fabric that policing is seen as clean, heroic, uncomplicated. Following the marketing strategy of the military, police advocacy organizations have partnered with teams from all four major leagues to host ‘Law Enforcement Appreciation’ nights, or similar events.”

nrlcxbdskq0iflep7e0i

Hold on….policing is divisive? Yea, it’s divisive in that it separates criminals from law abiding citizens. You know who doesn’t like cops? Bad guys. And unless it’s the Portland Trailblazers, then no team should have a problem with a cop singing the National Anthem. And what if this happens:

Is this racist too Howard?

079f2863-7fc7-4ed5-8736-67a1cbea0281

Why am I only reading about this idiot on conservative websites? Why are Deadspin, USA Today, the Washington Post, and every other major media outlet so quiet about this? After all, it was just a month ago when then ESPN employee Curt Schilling shared this on Facebook:

mo8ke8iprga8umw8sp8m

You could read about Curt Schilling’s insensitivity towards men who wanna take dumps in the lady’s room pretty much anywhere:

Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 12.52.59 PM

It was huge news and Curt Schilling was quickly fired for it. Yet here is another ESPN employee in Howard Bryant, who is using the company’s magazine to write these ridiculously racist and anti-American things. And it IS racist. Make no doubt about it. Just look at this sentence right here:

Why don’t more athletes speak out on behalf of their communities?

He’s talking about black players, and he wants to know why they don’t complain about cops singing the National Anthem at games. He is suggesting that ALL black players share his animosity towards the police. Because black people are a “community” simply simply because they share the same skin pigmentation. Newsflash – suggesting that people all must think and act the same way because of a shared skin pigmentation is the DEFINITION of racism!!!

But yet he will face no repercussions, and the media has clearly conspired to determine that this sort of racism is not news. He will not be suspended, never mind fired like Schilling was. Because the message from ESPN has been sent loud and clear for a while now – we are a political station now. Sports are secondary.

Of course as Boston fans we already know this. After all, they’re the ones who made up the lie that 11 of the 12 Patriots balls were under inflated by 2 pounds each:

mort-tweet

This tweet still remains up because it single handedly drove their ratings through the roof. ESPN lies.

1ol2nfK

And they have the right to be political show theater all they want to, but as long as they keep giving courage awards to Bruce Jenner for wearing a dress, and being gigantic hypocrites, they can’t even be considered a sports outlet.

Howard Bryant of Ashfield, MA, stands in Franklin County District Court in Greenfield, MA, prior to his arraignment on assault charges Monday morning, February 28, 2011. Paul Franz photo

Then there’s this:

Additionally, in 2011 while under the employ of ESPN, Bryant was arrested for domestic abuse against his wife, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest. Bryant claimed post arrest that racial factors played a part in his arrest. Charges were ultimately dropped in a plea deal whereby Bryant agreed to serve six months of pre-trial probation and recanted his intimation that race played a part in his arrest, also apologizing for that comment.

So let me get this straight. This guy was once arrested for being a huge asshole, and now all the writes about is how racist cops are? In other words he is ESPN’s version of Clive McFarlane. But yet these two guys, who clearly can get away with things that their white counterparts like Curt Schilling cannot, claim that the deck is stacked against them in America because of the color of their skin. Yea, that makes sense. Now I get it.

Oh yea, and this guy, who grew up in suburban South Plymouth, was a fan of the Yankees because the Red Sox are racist:

According to him, Boston embraces Latino players and white players, but not black players. He says black players don’t have fun and aren’t comfortable playing in Boston. And for the record, he counts David Ortiz as a Latino, not black. Well, we’re just gonna go ahead and leave these right here:

Espn is a laughing stock in America, nowadays. This isn’t surprising, especially from such a hypocritical network that allowed afro’s to lecture the USA on how racist it is on their espy awards show. Good news is, once this shitty network looses another 5 million viewers – – they will no longer be able to make the MINIMUM payments to the leagues (nba, nfl, mlb, college football) – because the income to debt ratio doesnt match up in the positive! NICE GOING HYPOCRITICAL ESPN / DISNEY. This shitty network will be 4 SALE in 5 years! Just wait and see…

Does anyone else find it ironic and hilarious that ESPN is owned by Disney? ESPN, whom is rapidly losing millions of viewers due to an increasingly left leaning political stance, is owned by a company founded by a man widely accused of being a racist anti-semite.

I wish ESPN would just go back to discussing sports. None of their ‘guests’ or commentators are qualified to be speaking about public matters, and often just compound the problem. Sports journalists are to journalism what chiropractors are to medical doctors; just because people refer to both as doctors doesn’t mean that they are equal.

See? White guy (Curt Shilling) is fired from ESPN because they think he is discriminating against transgenders, but black guy (Howard Bryant) can claim that the singing of the National Anthem is racist. Race baiting at its finest. See the double standard?

Howard Bryant proves why he is and always will be second class. Was born equal but made the choice to always be lower rung. As to anyone who buys into his thinking.

Howard Bryant, reason number 1001 that ESPN sucks, and I no longer watch their biased drivel. ESPN is dying, good riddance! This is why they have been hemorrhaging talent as of late, rats leaving a sinking ship.

Howard Bryant has been a race baiter for years, read a few pages of any of his books for verification. The guy chokes his wife, elbows past a cop and still is on the air? Gee, I wonder why???

Yep we’re all a bunch of racists.

That’s why damn near every man in Massachusetts would have gladly sucked Malcolm Butler’s dick (no homo) on the night of February 1, 2015.

So should we let petty thugs with rap sheets and no history of ever working for a living represent . That would be a great message to send out to community leaders trying to clean up their neighborhoods. And lets talk fan base, I am a white working class father ,I go to maybe 2 Celtic games a year that is it for professional sports . Basically it is overpriced entertainment and judging by the crowds I see on TV most Black people probably feel the same. So lets say for a week no whites attend a professional sporting event in the US. How quickly would this ridiculous player salaries fall not to mention this race baiters job .

ESPN has been a joke for years. If you want to watch 24/7 ESPN suck off Lebron and Peyton Manning then it’s the channel for you. This guy was arrested for choking a woman and nobody says a word. So what ESPN is saying is that they are fine with violence against women and cop hating. Again, ESPN sucks.

Is everyone on ESPN a f-ing Marxist now? It’s as if some kind of coup has happened.

  • Love, Me
    June 1, 2016 at 3:06 pm

I know it was pretty clear that he was singling out Black athletes. Perhaps, given his abusive background, Howard was really inferring that the “player communities” are not based on the color of their skin, but by their rap sheet. There are plenty of athletes who have made the news for sexual assault, child beating, wife beating, girlfriend beating, stalking and shooting playas after leaving the clubs, etc.

My impression is that most athletes are just regular guys who love the game. They respect their league and are grateful to their fans, regardless of the fans’ chosen professions. If you’re not misbehaving, if you don’t consider yourself above the law, you have little reason to denigrate law enforcement.

Espn is losing subscribers by the truckload..cant imagine why. And no one will hold this idiot accountable just because he is black and will play the race card when someone speaks out against him. Now imagine a white guy saying something like this….o wait Kurt Schilling did and was completely lambasted in the press for it. Such hypocrites, do as i say not as i do

Please, please, please destroy this asshole.
