Earlier today we broke the story about the man at the Worcester Courthouse who jumped from the third floor balcony.

12528649_1121606054541055_1012764910_o

Well we’ve gotten a lot of shit over this from people who thought this sentence was insensitive:

“If you’re in the courthouse you’re either a victim, a lawyer, or an asshole. And assholes have a tendency to do crazy things”

This was our favorite comment:

“I don’t hope this often on others, but since you’re such a narrow minded judgmental self righteous prick turtle boy, I hope it ends up being a close friend or family member of yours, because regardless of your lack of value of life it has to be somebody’s family or friend who took that pencil dive, and I think it would be maybe just the humbling kick in the dick you could use if it was one of your own who you so callously wrote about.”

First of all, I’m embarrassed that I even have to do this, but let me explain to you how hyperbole works. Ya see, it’s kind of like a joke wrapped in elements of the truth. It it NOT literal. Obviously there are more than just victims, lawyers, and assholes in court. Obviously. There are judges, jurors, reporters, custody disputes, small claims, etc. If you really are that stupid to believe that Turtleboy believes that only assholes, lawyers, and victims step foot in the courthouse, then I have a world famous horse ranch down in Nantucket that I’ll sell you for dirt cheap. Cash only.

Secondly, the reason we even made reference to this was to point out the way the courthouse is set up, and the high volume of dangerous people and others with psychological issues who grace its halls. If you’ve ever been to the courthouse then this doomsday scenario has probably crossed your mind before. Personally, I can’t look out of a four story ledge like that without thinking about what would happen if I fall. Gives me the chills. I figured this would’ve happened a long time ago, when you factor in some of the people who are in the courthouse on a daily basis. Someone could easily throw someone over it or try to end it all right there.

Thirdly, we have no problem with the set up. It looks really cool. Architecture doesn’t kill people. People kill people. If this guy wanted to end it he was eventually going to make this decision.

Anyway, we found out the reason why. A lot of people thought we were being mean because it could’ve been a Dad who just lost custody of his kids or something like that. Not that this would make a difference, because if you’re willing to leave your children fatherless because you don’t get to see them as often as you’d like, then you’re still a selfish dooshnozzle.

But it wasn’t a custody dispute. Our sources in the court tell us that the reason this man jumped was that the judge in courtroom 14 told him to tuck in his shirt. Ya got that? He didn’t wanna tuck his shirt in.

Apparently the judge in his particular judge is a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t let people disrespect his courtroom by dressing like slobs. Which I think is FANTASTIC. Take a trip down to the Worcester Courthouse sometime and look at what people are wearing. It makes Walmart look like Easter Mass at the Cathedral. If you’re an adult and you don’t have the decency or possess the basic understanding that you are supposed to present yourself properly in a court of law, then a judge should let you know that.

This guy is obviously mentally unstable, and this whole situation is unfortunate. But no one is to blame here. It’s a guy who clearly needed mental health and wasn’t getting it. Who knows why. Could be undiagnosed, could be refusing treatment, could be getting treatment and it’s not working. If he was willing to kill himself because he didn’t wanna tuck his shirt in then it was only a matter of time until something set him off. Maybe he would’ve hurt someone else. At least no one else got hurt in this situation.

We don’t know the guy’s name, but we do know that he was alive and screaming in pain when they brought him out of there. If you were there and witnessed it feel free to reach out to us. A lot of people who were there are obviously shaken up. It’s one of those things that can traumatize a person. But the bottom line is, don’t shoot the messenger.

When you are in a certain type of position, say police officer or court employee, it’s unethical while at work in a courthouse to take pictures and leak them to a news site. Not that this is a news site. I never said it was illegal. It’s unethical.

I was on the 4th floor right above him people watching while waiting for the Grand Jury. I saw who took the pictures on the 4th and 3rd floors. It’s been reported to the DA’s office and they are investigating. There were Detectives and Court Personell taking pics. I can’t believe they got leaked here. Hopefully someone is reprimanded.

Why? How is it a leak? The pictures were not taken in a closed courtroom but in public. In public in a federal building where the first amendment is fully applicable.

Did you know that you can have your picture taken in public and even be recorded without your permission and it is 100% legal?

If you reported this and someone at the DA’s office said, “we are investigating”, you bet they only said so to shut you up and probably laughed at you for being a moron once they hung up.

Oy vey. Grow a brain people!

I was there last week for jury duty and thought the same thing. Nobody has jumped or been tossed in the eight years it’s been open….incredible. .Now the state will have to install ( that we pay for) Freakin hockey glass around all these courthouse balconies. Oh and BTW..8 years and no cable in the jury pool. Really ?

Hmm what’s kind of shady is someone who works at the courthouse taking and releasing these pictures. Double standard

      March 18, 2016 at 3:55 pm

Dude. Your utter and complete idiocy is mind boggling.

It wasn’t necessarily a court house worker who took these pictures. If you have ever visited the courthouse and have the literacy skills of at least a ten year old you could read the signs for yourself.

What do they say? No cell phones allowed in the courthouse unless you are an attorney or a juror.

      Badabing badaboom, idiot.

Turtleboy – Don’t waste your time answering to these libtard shitstains that think it’s the system’s fault that this fucknut jumped off of the second, third floor or forth (if there is one) in the court house or that you are in the wrong reporting news. The guy that did this is fucking nuts. Period.

Who the fuck in their right minds would do a fucking swan dive from the second or third floor in the court house? Do we expect security at the front door entrance to drop their respective metal detectors and talk to people entering about their fucking feelings? “How do you feel today?” “Are you happy?” “Can we kiss your ass so you won’t be an asshole?” Who the fuck is happy in court? What? I mean come the fuck on.

    It is what it is.

Everyone must go to the Courthouse at least once. Many answers to society and especially Worcester’s vast decline can be found there. Never mind untucked shirts, some actually show in their pajamas, or pajama looking clothes and faux sheepskin slippers. Luckily a few righteous judges either don’t allow slobs or silently simply hold it against the pajama clad party.

Nice Job on the Pictures. Especially since cameras and cell phones are not allowed in the courthouse. Or at least they weren’t last time I was there.

His name has been stated at another source for this incident (I’m mobile, so I don’t feel like going back and forth). Anyways, whether or not it was over his shirt, the guy lived in a group home and has a “long history of mental health issues.” Sad that this happened. He really should have been escorted in this case, especially because he was up on charges involving threatening the home staff with a “realistic looking bb gun” for their car keys.

I was at the courthouse at time of the incident, it was a horrible sight. I was 20 feet away putting on my belt after comming through security, when he jumped. It sounded like someone hitting a tree with a bat!! I will never forget the sound of his head hitting the marble floor!!! It was traumatizing for me as well as the majority of the people who witnessed it. I wish i drank because getting drunk sounds good to me right now!!! Mental illness is not a joke or funny. It’s SAD this man thought, at the time, that it was his only option to STOP FEELING like he was. I’m sorry for him and his family.

Good ol Wootown, where we have scum bag fat slobs who wear “Bulletproof” hoodies to court multiple times despite a judge’s orders not to.

Perhaps its time for a dress code in our courts. No shirt and slacks? No admittance. Gonna miss your court date? Tuff shit. This isnt the place for flip flops and tank tops. This aint a fucking Kenny Chensey concert broseph.

I have a feeling this person who feels suicide is a justifiable action to take after being told to tuck your shirt in really wont be missed by the rest of society.

I just had to face my stalker for an RO in the courtroom this week. He’s super unstable and brought along his equally unstable lady friend. Court is nuts. Thank Baby J that there was an officer in the room. Jumpers in a courthouse no longer surprise me. My stalker will more likely kill somebody while drunk driving though…unfortunately.

Its doesnt matter what the situation was someone tryed to kill themself . just remember that man has family and most likely kids . and quess what he wasnt angry about no damn t shirt .. The judge wanted him to undergo a mental health evaulation and then took a break .. I was on the second floor and seen the whole thing .. I wouldnt want anyone to see that and hear that noise it is very traumitizing.

I saw that his case took a break from his arraignment, and the judge and lawyer we’re discussing the guy needing a psych evaluation to make sure he could stand trial. Either way, it sucks.

Anyone else notice there are no less than 18 court officers standing around, a few are helping, the rest are gawking. Who is watching the riff-raff and drinking the coffee? And if that many can stand around, do they have too many on staff?

Everytime I’ve been there and looked over the glass wall down below, I’ve always wondered, “Is today the day I’m going to see some dudes fight, move up against the glass and toss someone over?”….It’s a reoccurring thought I’ve had anytime I’ve had to wait in the hall of the court house outside probate. I knew sooner or later, someone was either going to get thrown over, pushed over or jump….

      March 17, 2016 at 8:35 pm

I’m glad to see I am not the only one who wonders that, I’ve estimated the height and done the math to figure out the velocity from each floor.

    • Ted
      March 18, 2016 at 6:36 am

That glass rail is obviously too low, the same look could be achieved with much higher glass. Maybe now the state will increase the height, or at least string up hockey type netting. Shocked this is the first incident in 8 years.
