It’s evident that Worcester is quickly turning to shit during this epic 2015 Summer of Love. You would think the city of Worcester would be trying to do something about it. But instead they’re doing exactly what they did when North High was turning to shit during the winter – coming up with a million point plan that will ultimately do nothing instead of taking immediate action to fix the problem. Ed Augustus wrote an article in the Telegram yesterday. His idiocy is in italics and our rational thoughts follow in bold:

Last week, a group of young children playing in a public park were forced to run and hide in a metal storage container as bullets intended for nearby gang members flew. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

This is unacceptable.

Breaking news – bad ass City Manager says stray bullets nearly hitting small children in city park is “unacceptable.” Gang members across Worcester now shitting their pants!!

Shootings have been too frequent this summer, and they have increasingly involved younger and younger victims and shooters. We are also still in the throes of an opioid crisis, which has led to increasing numbers of break-ins in some neighborhoods, overdose deaths, and needles in public places. This has created a challenging combination of pressures that have impacted the public health and safety of our residents.

Yup. We already know that. So what’s the plan Ace?

However, let me be clear: Worcester refuses to give up our public spaces, streets, and neighborhoods to gang activity and drugs. Our kids deserve safe places to play, and our residents deserve safe streets and homes. The City Council and I are committed to doing everything in our power to provide them.

Blah, blah, blah. Gangs are bad, kids are good, and the City Council has the backs of the good guys. You still haven’t said shit.

We know there is no single lever to pull to end the problems of poverty, drug addiction, and neighborhood challenges that lead young people on a path of violence. But that the problems are complex and longstanding won’t excuse inaction.

Yea, no shit sherlock. No one gives a shit about the complex and longstanding causes of poverty. That’s all we ever hear about. We’re sick of hearing about all of the reasons that people commit crimes. We want to hear what you’re gonna do about all the people who are committing crimes.

The City Council recently approved a budget that adds more police officers and extra police funds for the difficult summer months. Increased police presence will help, but we know we can’t arrest our way out of the problem.

Stop right there. See that last phrase? That’s the problem right there. “We know we can’t arrest our way out of the problem.” Dicky Rushton said that at the Mosaic City Council meeting last week and now everyone’s saying it. I’ve never heard a more insane, bullshit, nonsensical statement in all my years.

We can’t “arrest” our way out of this, so logically then we should hug our way out of it then. This is the major difference in philosophy between those who run the city and those who pay the taxes that run the city. The city manager believes drug dealers and gangstas are reasonable people that can be counseled out of crime. The people know better and want the cops to start smashing heads and getting old school, western district style on these criminals.

The problem is that we’re trying to eliminate problems instead of remedying them. Instead of arresting people who are committing crimes, we are vainly trying to find a cure for poverty, because idiots like Boom-Boom Connor think that poverty is the reason crime exists.

Newsflash – the mere fact that Bernie Madoff and Martha Stewart went to prison, proves that poverty is not the only reason people commit crimes. It’s because they’re selfish assholes. And there will always be selfish assholes. We will never get rid of crime or poverty no matter how much money we spend trying to eliminate the root causes of. But we do have the ability to stop the people who are committing these crimes by giving the police the green light to protect us.

That’s why we’re taking an “all of the above” approach. We recently launched the Worcester Youth Violence Prevention Initiative. Working with our partners in law enforcement, youth-serving organizations, and grassroots community groups, the Juvenile Court, and the office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., we’ve embarked on a comprehensive, data-driven strategy to address the underlying issues leading to youth violence.

Oh shut the fuck up already. How many cliches can you fit into one sentence? So many buzzwords, so little time. “Grassroots community groups.” You know who that is? Mosaic, Communities United Collective, the Cirlejerk, or whatever name they’re calling themselves this week.

Screen Shot 2015-08-02 at 9.17.17 PM

Are these people really that out of touch that they think this will soothe our fears? Seven people in Worcester had their cars stolen on Wednesday night. On a fucking WEDNESDAY!! Do you think any of the people who had their cars stolen gives a flying fuck about your “data-driven strategy?”

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – never, ever trust anyone who uses the term “data-driven.” This is the same bullshit excuse Melinda Boone used to keep cops out of schools. It involves taxpayers financing a bunch of overpaid suits so they can make a bunch of graphs to justify their bloated salaries. It fixes nothing.

We’ve also expanded positive summer opportunities for kids with the free Recreation Worcester program and summer jobs through the new Worcester Youth Corps.

Awesome. Wonderful. Don’t forget to get a photo-op with a bunch of inner city youths Eddie. Because we all agree that this is a good thing, but how in the fuck does it stop the rampant gang violence in Worcester? Because you can throw money at programs like this all you want, but you’d have to be a moron to think that this will keep a single gang banger from getting out of the game. Do you honestly think one of the 15 year old kids walking around this city with a gun in his crotch is gonna give up his never ending quest to keep it real for a $9 an hour job painting classrooms in an elementary school? Are you naive or just plain stupid?

While several of these recent incidents have been brazen and scary, it is important to remember that statistically we remain one of the safest cities our size in the Northeast. So while we must look at our problems clear-eyed, we should not let them blind us to reality. Worcester remains a safe place to live, work, and play.

Do they really think we’re this dumb? Does he really think we don’t have access to the Internet, and can’t see for ourselves that there’s a shooting every day in Worcester this summer? Does he think we care that his data shows that Worcester is safer than Hartford, Springfield, and Providence? Is this supposed to make you feel better if you had your home broken into, your car stolen, or someone got shot down the street from you? These people are CLUELESS. Get them out of my face!! I’ve never seen such gross incompetence from someone who the City Council basically gave a handy to at the City Manager’s annual evaluation this year.

They just don’t get it. They never will. That’s why we need them out of here. It’s a simple fix really. Dicky Rushton is gone. We replace him with Rob Sargent. Joe Petty is gone. We replace him with Mike Gaffney. Sarai Rivera is gone. We replace her with Jackie Kostas. Kate Toomey figures out what team she’s playing for, or else we replace her with Carmen Carmona. Boom. Problem solved.

Vote the Turtleboy Ticket in November. Take your city back.

Stolen cars you say? Somebody on staff should do a story to see if they can clear the good name of the stolen car warehouse district on Fremont Street in Worcester. It’s like the fast and the furious over there’

Hack politicians relish the status quo. If they could solve something, anything, that’s one less promise they have to pledge and then ignore once the votes are tallied.

Sadly, there is little recourse. The good guys don’t want to run for public office. Only hacks are attracted to cupcake gigs like City Council. Show up, blather about nonsense and cliches, go back to sleep.

    Rinse & repeat.

At what point are you going to share what the candidates you endorse plan to do about the problems of the city instead of just saying “their idea is dumb and they are dumb, vote Gaffney”? The plan might be flawed, or even something that will not work, but it is still a plan. Has Rob Sargent, Mike Gaffney, Jackie Kostas, or Carmen Carmona suggested alternate plans to deal with the city’s violence?

I honestly do not expect an answer back. And here’s why:
” We will never get rid of crime or poverty no matter how much money we spend trying to eliminate the root causes of.”

This has to be the one line of yours I agree with the most. There will never be an end to poverty, there will never be an end to crime. All people can do try to identify some of the causes and try to alleviate as many of them as possible. That’s it. I don’t see how it is fair that you blast a city official for coming up with a plan you don’t think will work and mock them for it while at the same time admitting that there really is no workable plan to save the city. And even after that, endorse candidates that have yet to even suggest an alternate plan (which you’ve already said wouldn’t work anyways) as if they have a magical answer to the problems.

If you are serious about getting these people elected in November (especially Gaffney), you need to start showing that these candidates have better plans in the works. Gaffney is going to have a hard enough time trying to break into the Mayor’s seat not being a Democrat, if you really want to help you need to start showing what his plans are and how they are superior to Petty’s.

Kate Toomey was always pro-police and I really doubt that she has reversed her stance on law enforcement. The cops love her.

Here is an idea …… Let’s do away with all the welfare, government paid housing and all the other free shit in Worcester , and maybe they will move away so we don’t have too ?

Poverty is not the reason people join gangs, lack of self respect, no respect for others and zero guidance at home combinef with those elected who coddle and make excuses. This crap gotta stop, take some responsibilty. Tens of thousands of kids made their way out of the three deckers thrrough hard work and little of the freebies this bunch has, too much free not enough work. Shameful what has happened to Vernon and Grafton Hill, hard working neighborhoods devasted by the lazy.
