I am glad that ACE Hardware learned their lesson quickly, unlike our Boston Red Sox last season. The Bosox alienated their real fans, believing that catering to the meaningless demands on social were what the fans of Boston Red Sox baseball wanted, and they were wrong. I believe social media platforms are more toxic than beneficial, and this goes for businesses as well as individual users. You are given an allusion that the masses are concerned about your life, your product, your service, etc and this is simply untrue. Businesses and individuals do real damage to themselves by trying to conform to what the masses believe is the right thing, rather than only being concerned with who/what really matters (your family, your consumers, the quality of your product, the quality of your life).
