    the massachusetts recall law is fucked up when you can recall someone, and then have them get re-elected.

    either

    1. someone recalled should be ineligible for re-election (on the same ballot), or

    2. The election should be held on a different day than the recall election.

    The problem with the current law is people are always confused about what exactly they are voting for. They mistakenly assume if they vote YES on the recall question they do not need to vote for one of the candidates on the 2nd half of the ballot.

    You can see this in the fall river recall election, where 12,740 people votes yes/no on the recall itself, but only 11,575 people voted on the second half of the ballot.

    Had those other 1,165 people voted on the 2nd half of the ballot, the results most likely would have been different for the sitting mayor.
