WISTVPlans for a father-daughter dance at a Midlands elementary school have hit a wall following complaints by some parents. For the last five years, Brockman Elementary in Forest Acres has held a Father-Daughter Dance. During that time, they have raised $2,000 for PTO funds. The move to cancel the dance comes after complaints from a few parents who feel the dance is not inclusive.

The principal and the school’s Parent Teacher Organization mutually decided to cancel the dance and refund the money already collected. Richland One School District Communications Director Karen York says the flyer for the dance states that anybody is allowed. York says as a public school, they make extra effort to be an all-inclusive school.

“There were a few parents that did not think the father-daughter dance was inclusive, when actually, it was at all times,” York said. “It was never an event that was exclusive to only fathers and daughters. Mothers and anyone else who wanted to show up at the dance were certainly welcome to attend.”

“Right now, the principal is in communication with those parents that raised concerns about the father-daughter dance, as well as the vast majority of the other parents at the school,” York said.

The cancellation sent parents questioning the school’s move to cancel the dance.

“There are father-daughter dances that are held at other schools, have been held at Richland One, and other districts here in Columbia, as well as across the country,” York said. “In this particular instance at Brockman, there were some parents, fewer than 10, who raised concerns about father-daughter dance. So again they responded to that and the whole focus is to have a special occasion for all students and all parents, and we certainly hope that will take place next week.”

The scariest part about this is that social justice warriors are gaining ground in South Carolina. That state is almost always the last one to change on pretty much everything. Now it looks like they’re going out of their way to show the country that they’re one of the good ones.

Seriously though, this is asinine. Basically what the school did was side with a bunch of whiny, terrorist parents instead of telling them the truth – we are not canceling this lovely event because you had unprotected sex with an asshole who didn’t stick around. Because that’s what this all comes down to. A bunch of single mothers don’t want their daughters to be stigmatized because they chose to follow the advice of Beyonce and be an independent woman.

The worst part is that the school was actually willing to be inclusive (the favorite buzzword of SJW’s) by allowing mothers to accompany their daughters, which is great. But it still wasn’t enough. Because SJW’s are obsessed with imaginary “equality,” that can never really be achieved in a world where people make such vastly different life decisions. But we can’t have an event anymore where all people aren’t equal. And since some kids have Dads and other’s don’t, it means no one can have fun anymore. The SJW’s won’t allow it.

Father-daughter dances are one of the greatest things America has to offer. Because there is hardly a bond that is stronger than between a father and his little girl. Dads are supposed to stick around and they are supposed to help raise their children. And when they do, it should be something that we acknowledge is a good thing. But we can’t anymore because people who didn’t make these same responsible life decisions don’t want to tell their daughters that they got knocked up by a scumbag sperm donor.

The bottom line is that whenever you see the word “inclusive,” you know nothing good is going to come out of it. Because it sounds good on paper, but it’s really just a word that SJW’s use to make the world a shittier place.

I took my daughter to the Chik Fil-a Daddy-Daughter nite.
I hope they don’t try to take that away. To think that it bothers some idiots that you have a good time with your family.

Don’t make snap judgements about many women. OH WAIT…this is TBS….that’s all they do is slam women or think that women were put on earth for their amusement and enjoyment. Some fathers have taken off…died…divorced and moved…etc. Some women have even CHOSEN to be single mothers…either through pregnancy or adoption.

“Some women have even CHOSEN to be single mothers…either through pregnancy or adoption.”

If you chose to be a single mother, then I guess you forfeited participating in the Daddy-Daughter activities, eh?

How about grandfathers, uncles, older brother or even a close friend? These woman must have had someone to act as a father figure to their daughters. Or the mothers could have contacted the school to see if they could attend and they would have found out they they were welcome too. But they were such assholes they just figured they screw it up for everyone else.

These women were most likely SJW man hating ugly hags who just wanted to screw with people.

Gerri I respectfully and honestly have to disagree. TBS has had a track record of supporting feminist values, family and with a twist toward a conservative political perspective. And his following is quite large. However, there a just a few commentators on here like ‘Wabbitt’ and ‘Trump’s boy penis’ that really do hate women and especially those like me that would stand back to back with a woman when she is getting bombarded with negative sexist idiotic juvenile asshole comments. But that’s just me and fucking Wabbitt and Penis are who they are. Assholes with absolutely no clue in this life.

The rest of us are good I swear.

This is pathetic. I’ve attended 9 Father-Daughter Dances at St Stephens School with my daughter and the kids who didn’t have a father, or they couldn’t attend, would take a grandfather, uncle or older brother. Some male role model and most mothers would volunteer at the dances. Then in the spring the mothers or aunts or grandmothers would usually attend a ballgame with their sons. And everyone had a good time. We got to spend some quality time with our children. The girls all dressed up in formal attire, the boys got to see the Red Sox and no one would complain about petty bullshit.

My mother and father have passed away. I want both Mother’s and Father’s day canceled because they are not inclusive. Makes sense, right?

Way to go SJWs! By canceling this dance, all of the bastards at that school will instantly forget they have no father. Good thing this dance was the only thing reminding them of that fact

I don’t agree at all with the dance being cancelled and I believe that the school was trying to include everyone…what I have a problem with is the wording in the article that says it’s the mothers bad choices that cause the child to be without a father to attend the dance with there are many reasons that there may not be a father around (death, deployment, adopted by a single mother, foster child) but putting the blame on the mother is not ok where is the fathers accountability for not being in the child’s life isn’t he the one making the bad or wrong choice by not being there for his child when he is capable….

So basically what they are saying is that these “mothers” term use very loosely , do not promote any good male figures in their daughters lives, do not feel equal enough to promote themselves as “father” if they indeed are doing both jobs and really just want something to bitch about. Why cant they just use it as a learning tool for their children and a positive rather than a poor me i dont have a daddy. No matter what the situation it can be turned into a positive and uplifting event for these girls , i can think of a way to instill esteem in any of those girls regardless of the story behind daddy not being there. And it would make a whole lot more sense and they wouldnt sound like morons. If any of them have zero decent male influence then they have way more of an issue than a fucking dance. Stop and think these people are only showing kids how to whine , bitch and look stupid.

THANK YOU FOR COVERING THIS STORY!!! I read this the other day and I was bullshit over it. Absolutely ridiculous that they cancelled this dance over the complaints of a few.

The school even said “there weren’t any rules about who comes to the dance…” and that “..if a mother wanted to come… that would be fine…” but instead of telling the no husband or lesbians that they were welcome to be there, they cancelled the fucking thing instead.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the complaining parents don’t even fall into those categories. When I first read the news story about this my initial reaction was ‘I bet some butthurt SJW mom, who has a husband and a daughter who were going to attend, probably called to complain because she was worried other people would be offended because it wasn’t inclusive enough.’ Because that’s the fucked up world we live in right now…where people who aren’t even negatively affected by something will complain about an issue because it isn’t PC enough and they want to get points with their fellow SJWs.

    Somebody slap these idiots.

  • Chris From Georgia

The school should have held the dance and simply have told the single mothers they would be welcome as well. There was no reason to cancel dance either and if anyone is offended by the name then time for them to get a life!

  • CharlesB
    May 9, 2016 at 1:16 pm

All the school had to do was change the name of the dance.
It is a very narrow point of view to say that ALL children without fathers are because of a choice. Turtleboy, what about death? What about fathers that are serving in the military? What about women who stepped up and raised a child of incest or rape? What about the child of gay parents? Hmmm? There are millions of reasons why children don’t have fathers in their lives, and most do not involve the mothers having made a bad choice, and even if she did, haven’t the children suffered enough already without having a dance that further marginalizes them.

Father/daughter dances are dandy, but in 2016 shouldn’t we be a little more open and accepting to different family structures and situations? IF the dance includes everyone, make the name of the dance REFLECT that.

    • John
      May 9, 2016 at 3:05 pm

Actually most DO involve the mother’s bad choices. There are not that many with fathers who have died or are deployed in the military.

      May 9, 2016 at 3:24 pm

Uh buddy they still had father/daughter dances when a lot of the daddies died in WWII and Nam.

  • juror seven
    May 9, 2016 at 1:09 pm

I’m guessing that some of these daddy’s are in the county jail and can’t get released to attend. These dances are for the girls and it should be all about them. I have a brother-in-law that just went to one of theses dances because the girl wanted to be there with her grandfather, they both had a great time. I’ve seen in the past that older brothers have stepped up to be the date for a kid sister.

This is getting me so infuriated. The minute I read the title I could feel my face getting red. I am divorced, and I have (due to work circumstances) been transferred 1,000 miles away from MA. My ex still resides there, so our daughter spends summers there, and school time with me. It works for us, and yes, I know that in June Cleaver land isn’t ideal. However, not for one second did I believe that the school was not going to let a mother accompany her daughter as I certainly would have. Just because her father isn’t here with her all the time to do these types of activities, I’d still want her be involved if she wanted to, and would love more than anything to be her dance date. I am tired of these crybaby SJWs ruining good things for everyone. My little girl would be proud to have me take her.

More importantly, I wouldn’t care what anyone thought of a mom being at a father daughter dance, mainly because I’m busy focusing my energy on raising a productive member of society, and I don’t have time.

Knowing what goes on in South Carolina, they could just rename it the ‘brother and sister dance,’ or the ‘cousin and cousin dance,’ and all the same folks would end up attending anyways.

    • wish youhadNikkiHaley
      May 9, 2016 at 3:41 pm

“Knowing what goes on in South Carolina,”

What exactly do you know about South Carolina?
Going for the low hanging fruit there, huh?
(Because, NO ONE ever pokes fun at southerners.)
Hey, it is S.C., not Spencer.

      • kingsraisins
        May 10, 2016 at 9:18 am

I agree about Spencer. But I have lived south of Mason Dixon for a long time, so I know plenty. But hey, lots of meth and Little Caesars, so you got that going for you. I also know that South Carolina ranks in the bottom 15 states for all levels of educational attainment-high school, college, and advanced degrees.

But hey, it might have turned out much differently if y’all had won that ‘war of Northern aggression,’ right? You know, the one in which an industrialized and educated populace forced the south to become something other than an agrarian society reliant on slavery? Go read a Joel Olsteen ‘best seller’ and settle down.

“You know, the one in which an industrialized and educated populace forced the south to become something other than an agrarian society reliant on slavery?”

Yeah – you got it all figured out about the South…in the 1860s.

“I have lived south of Mason Dixon for a long time” – South Carolina isn’t all of “the South,” just as Massachusetts isn’t all of New England. However, I am reasonably sure that the southerners where you previously lived are all quite happy that you have returned north…If you are still living there, then the northerners have you to “thank” for perpetuating the northerner stereotypes there.

BTW – Joel Olsteen is a tool…and if you are back in MA, have fun dodging panhandlers in Worcester.

Well said nomoreTBloveconnectionsplease, well said. As one who has lived most of my life in Massachusetts, moving down south was the best move I ever made. the climate, standard of living and the quality of life are much better down here.
