Here Are Some Third Wave Feminazis On A Boston Globe Post About This Iconic WW2 Picture Doing What They Do Best, Forgoing Facts In Favor Of Needless Outrage

Chances are, you’ve already seen this iconic post WW2 photograph taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt for LIFE Magazine.

It shows a WW2 sailor kissing a woman in the middle of Times Square on V-J Day after the news of Japan’s surrender effectively heralded the end of World War II. The sailor in the photo, a Navy veteran identified as Middletown, Rhode Island native George Mendonsa died on Monday, and The Boston Globe of course ran an obligatory puff piece announcing his death.

The photo has become so iconic because it captured and served as a timelesss symbol of the collective exuberance and relief Americans felt at the close of the Second World War. It has been the subject of countless reproductions, tributes and reenactments, and is readily recognized even today as a charming portrait of a moment in American history. That was, of course, before the feminazis got to it.

Jesus Christ, no she’s not. I looked, and looked, and looked once more, just to be safe, because I didn’t want to misspeak on behalf of another human being. There is not one published article or interview where the woman in the picture – Greta Friedman, discusses the kiss being frightening, or referring to it as a form of sexual assault. Quite the contrary, actually. And she hasn’t said anything about the matter “recently”, because she died in 2016 and dead people don’t talk. But this is how these women choose to “empower” other women now, by speaking for them and twisting or outright ignoring their own words to further perpetuate their own miserable agenda.

You people really are just out to ruin everything, aren’t you?

Oh good, Brian the White Knight beta male at least cited an article. It’s a valiant effort for a weak mind, and you alllmmooosssttt had it there, Briguy. You just selectively cherry picked one quote, and forgot this little blurb in the preceding paragraph:

Smithsonian Mag:

“I felt that he was very strong. He was just holding me tight. I’m not sure about the kiss… it was just somebody celebrating,” Friedman told Redmond. “It wasn’t a romantic event. It was just an event of ‘thank god the war is over.’”

In the years since, the moment has been reinterpreted based off of Friedman’s account and a closer examination of the photograph, which appears more forceful than affectionate. Some have called it documentation of a sexual assault, and while Friedman reportedly did not view it that way, she understood that reading of the moment, Eli Rosenberg reports for the New York Times.”

Better luck next time.

This is what female empowerment has come to? Defining someone as a victim despite their own feelings about it? That’s utterly reprehensible, and as a woman I reject the notion.  Greta Friedman rejected it as well, as her son once told the New York Daily News, “My mom always had an appreciation for a feminist viewpoint, and understood the premise that you don’t have a right to be intimate with a stranger on the street. …(But) she didn’t assign any bad motives to George in that circumstance, that situation, that time.” One reason might be that she was a Jewish refugee from Hitler’s Europe, and, unlike feminists in America, she knew real evil. Given the context, the act was essentially innocent. The facts are,  the kiss was very brief and Mendonsa’s girlfriend can be seen smiling in the background. And as the “victim” told the Veterans History Project:

“Well, I was working in a dental office on Lexington Avenue for two brothers, JD and JL Burke, and all morning long people would come in and say there seems to be rumors that the war is ending. And since I wasn’t very far from Times Square, I could just walk over there and see for myself. And so after my bosses came back at 1:00 from their lunch hour, excuse me, I went straight to Times Square where I saw on the lighted billboard that goes around the building, V-J Day, V-J Day, and that really — that really confirmed what the people have said in the office. And so suddenly I was grabbed by a sailor, and it wasn’t that much of a kiss, it was more of a jubilant act that he didn’t have to go back, I found out later, he was so happy that he did not have to go back to the Pacific where they already had been through the war. And the reason he grabbed someone dressed like a nurse was that he just felt very grateful to nurses who took care of the wounded. And so I had to go back to the office, and I told my bosses what I had seen. And they said, Cancel all the appointments, we’re closing the office. So they left, and I canceled all the appointments and went home.”

But forget context and the women’s own words – this is 2019. A bunch of strange, angry women on the internet can degrade you to the level of “victim” and embrace the ensuing outrage, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Somehow this seems like more of a violation than that that famous 70-year old kiss, but what do I know? Only the facts. If the byproduct of sexual assault and rape is a theft of personal power (it is), then what exactly is this?

The woman isn’t even alive to defend herself anymore. Jesus.

America is not a better place — nor, for that matter, are American women happier — because these perpetually outraged snowflakes want us all to consider George Mendonsa a sexual offender, and Greta Friedman a survivor of sexual assault. They were celebrating life, America, and both men and women in that picture – something these “feminists” clearly know nothing about.

“The Best Years of Our Lives”

Noise and mayham, noise and mayham, etc…
Then quiet. And you were expected to pick up exactly where you left off. At least you took a slow boat back to attempt to figure out what happened.

The Vietnam vets had it worse. Drips and drabs coming home and basically “Thanks for everything, bye”. One day you have a hot gun in your hand, a couple of days later you are back in the US. There no group en-mass that could all point back to same day when it was over for them.

I think the military did a bit better job with gulf war and Afghanistan solders.

Read an interesting thing yesterday. You notice since the end of the draft and an all volunteer army we have spent much more time fucking around the world? The premise is, if you don’t have a draft you don’t really care because you didn’t sign up for it. With a draft, there’s a lot more stackholders in fighting and dying. The conclusion is, if we had a draft we probably wouldn’t be in places we are in right now, because people would be pissed. Right now, It’s sucks to be you.

In a former life, I was a commissioned officer in the US Navy. I received my commission the old fashioned way, via the Boat School on the Severn, the greatest institution ever created by the US Government. I received my commission shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, which we all know was built by the Russians to keep westerners out of the socialist paradise that was East Germany.

Anywho, my “woke” moment in the service came during flight training, when I realized quite obviously that despite the large number of $$$s they’d already put into my training, and would continue putting into my training and then my career, nobody up the food chain gave an ever-loving shit what happened to me, whether I lived, died, or whatever. I’m talking about the big wigs who really call the shots…to them my life was nothing other than a tick mark on one of McNamara’s spreadsheets.

So your post really struck me as the truth. Right now, with our all-volunteer forces, our military is essentially a mercenary force for the administration in power. I mean absolutely no disrespect to the veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, either. But we’ve been permanently on a low-level war footing since 7 December 1941, and it’s going to end up ruining this great country.

Also I realize this is likely too nuanced for your low brow audience to comprehend, but the wording of Ms Friedman’s interviews, much like your entire article here, are both glaring examples of cultural conditioning, nothing more.

It’s AMAZING to watch you postulate your ignorance so openly. I’m sure these cheap plays of yours would embrassas you more, if your mortgage payment wasn’t dependent on click bate from an angry, outraged, underpayed, underlayed, undereducated WT audience.

Apparently you suck at doing online research then, because even Wikipedia has this info from a CBS interview back in 2012.

“While V-J Day in Times Square went on to become an iconic photo that was generally viewed as a celebratory and romantic photograph, Friedman had mixed feelings about it.[6] “It wasn’t my choice to be kissed,” Friedman stated in a 2005 interview with the Library of Congress.[7] “The guy just came over and grabbed!” she said, adding, “That man was very strong. I wasn’t kissing him. He was kissing me.”[8] “I did not see him approaching, and before I know it I was in this tight grip,” Friedman told CBS News in 2012.[9]”

On one side you have the dirty reality of the war.

But sure keep up the “look a bird” strategy. Works for Trump and his low life clingers, why not the Turd and it’s Turd riders. Whatever it takes to make a buck huh B!

        • February 19, 2019 at 4:10 pm

Perhaps I’d agree with you, if not for the fact that my day job pays my bills. By “day job” I mean career, of course. Women like you don’t take kindly to women like me, I know. I have a career of my own, my own unfettered voice online, and my husband doesn’t even force me to do the dishes. I work with men who respect and appreciate my talents, and I haven’t been slut shamed in years. It’s a pity, really, that my life isn’t an anecdote your type can use to dredge up imaginary outrage with. And, little FYI – I don’t need a thesaurus. Like the rest of my life, my vocabulary is entirely self-made and self sustaining. I know that makes you mad, and I’m glad it does.

You’re trying entirely to hard to “prove” yourself … for what? To whom? Who cares. But your desperation is palatable. Trying to convince others, or yourself B? Sounds like the later to me. You can seek counseling for that. It can be a long road to work through all that conditioning though, takes time, be patient with yourself, best of luck honey!

Btw B your “day job” must be very lenient …. letting you post your articles while at work, as well as be able to reply in the comments section all day while working your “day job”

Do they know how much time you spend in the comments section during the business day, you know when you should be doing your real “day job” ?

I’m guessing no huh? Since your anonymous? I’m guessing they don’t even know you write for TBS.

Probably wouldn’t want them to find out either I guess. Weird? You’d think since you write such “hard hitting journalism” you’d want your real name on all that hard work you seem to be so proud of!

Your not ashamed of it are you? Is that why you only write behind a psuedonym?

Or is it cause your just really Uncles T’s female alter ego he has some fun writing under?

My father was on some fucking island in the middle of the Pacific when the bomb was dropped.

They dropped the 1st one and they were told. No one knew what an atomic bomb was. Their response was “Great”. When the 2nd one was dropped their response was “Can we go home know?”.

They didn’t care one way or another about nuclear weapons. Dead was dead and that was good enough.

He was a landing craft operator. They’d live on shore of whatever island the ground troops captured until they moved on until the next invasion.

Flies as big as butterflys. Your cloths were cotton and the stitching rotting off after a couple of months. Fellow seaman committing suicide while stationed on an island. Not chickening out in battle, but cracking on a fucking island weeks after a battle.

He told me stories about dead Japanese rotting all over the place and you weren’t to touch them because the bodies could be booby trapped. He heard a couple of booms because souvenir hunters were tempted. The corpses never bothered him, but the smell did. Living like that you didn’t give a fuck about the enemy and you were glad to make it home. I’m glad I never had the pleasure of living through that. I’ll give them a pass for a lot that happened when they got home.

American learned that well, during WWI and WWII … and never looked back. Which is why we have had perpetual wars since. And will continue that way, until someone figures out how to make peace as profitable as war.

My fathers uncle fought on the German side on the Russian front.
      Stupidest thing he ever encountered.

His sister in 1965 was a true believer in Hitler, 20 years after the war.
My father and his mother went to Germany in 65 to visit them.
The brother more or less had nothing to do with the sister because of that.
She’d go on about “If only the Fuhrer had done this or that we’d be on top”.
It wasn’t fair that they were being treated like they were just because they lost the war.

My father and grandmother were supposed to stay about a week with the sister.
They bailed out after 3 days. They spent extra time with the brother.

No they were not planning a land war with Japan. They had already given Japan a way out (Same terms agreed on AFTER Athens two A bomb too)

At the time the bombs were dropped Russia was heading to attack Japan with a massive fleet of war ships. The US dropped the bombs not to stop Japan, but to do so BEFORE Russia could claim domination of it.

It was to flex our military muscle for the whole world to see so we could claim our status as the worlds super power. Clearly it worked. We are assholes not savors.
