Here Were The Worst Calls You Will Ever See From Tonight’s Bruins-Canadiens Game 7

I was faced with the ultimate dilemma tonight. Couldn’t make it home from work until 8:30. Do I DVR it and start watching it when I get home? Or do I follow online and pick up late in the 2nd period? I went with the former. Really had no choice. You have to watch every second a Game 7 Stanley Cup Playoff match between theses two squads. It’s science.

The problem is of course that you can’t turn on the radio, go on Twitter, Facebook, or basically anything with news. Even when I got in my car I had to put ear plugs in and turn the volume down, lest I actually hear what the score is. So Mrs. TurtleBoy had the game cued up as soon as I walked in. An hour and ten minutes later and I was only 10 minutes behind everyone else. I was yelling at my TV about an hour after you were when these disgusting, disgraceful calls started happening.

I don’t even need to show you the Marchand “icing” penalty. We all know that was a disgrace. Typical Montreal right there. How the hell can the refs justify giving the Bruins three penalties in the first period, and THEN starting off the second period with that disgraceful call?

They made it abundantly clear to the nose faced killer that they were gonna lock him up like like a Saudi Arabian woman with an opinion. He couldn’t avoid the penalty box early on. I mean, how could they possibly call him for interference on this one:

What exactly was he supposed to do there? Stop moving after Markov high sticks him and pushes him into Price? Is Marchand supposed to use his magical powers to defy Newton’s laws of physics?

Or how about this takedown by Georges on Reilly Smith?

Now I don’t mind them not calling that blatant penalty. But how about maybe just being consistent? Just a thought. Not like this game is important or anything. Just Game 7 of the greatest rivalry in sports.

And our boy PK Subban has mastered the art of dislodging the goal, “accidentally” of course, whenever the Bruins put offensive pressure on:

The tape is undeniable. Extends arm. Pushes net. Stops the play. No penalty because it was incidental right? But when Marchand gets pushed into Price it’s a penalty? Because that makes all the fucking sense in the world. But hey, pushing nets is what Subban is best at:

On a more hilarious note, I could watch Zdeno Chara and Max Pacioretty awkward Graeco-Roman wrestle all day:

By far my favorite point in the game, besides the one goal we scored, came in the second period. The ref was about to drop the puck between Campbell and some Hab, when Plekanec and Kevin Miller started jousting behind him and breathing down his neck. He delayed the drop, turned around and told them to stop. They of course didn’t and Doc Emerick retorted, “But of course they don’t listen, because boys will be boys.” The ability to come up with one liners like that on the spot is why you’re on TV Doc. Well played.

It wasn’t only the refs though. They only scored one power play. But who knows what the B’s could’ve done if they didn’t have to play a man down for 30% of the first period for bullshit. Because we definitely outplayed them. More wide open shots were missed. More posts nailed. Boston outshot Montreal 30-18, and won the face-off battle 42-29. I won’t be over the Boston Bruins‘ 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens for a long, long time though. Were the Bruins perfect? Not even close. Here were the three major problems with this team:

  1. The Bruins really, really, missed Adam McQuaid and Dennis Seidenberg. Their replacements, Kevin Miller and Mart Bartkowski gave away easy goals to start both Games 6 and 7. The last three years we didn’t have to worry about opposing players parking their asses in front of the net or turnovers in the defensive zone. This year we did.
  2. David KrejciBrad Marchand, and Milan Lucic are streaky players, and none of them are superstars. We won a Stanley Cup because David Krejci was the best player in hockey for two months. This past month he was one of the worst. And how many open nets did Marchand miss tonight? I could’ve sworn he was drunk tonight.
  3. This is what happens when you give up and trade a budding 21 year old superstar because he likes to act like a 21 year old rock star with too much money. Seriously, I know Tyler Seguin sucked ass last year in the playoffs, but the bottom line is that he’s a much better offensive player than anyone on the Bruins roster. You saw this series how limited Louie Erikkson is as a forward. Reilly Smith is a whole lot of what he is. As you can see from the past couple games, you need skilled players to actually put the puck in the net to win hockey games. See Kane, Patrick, for more information on that topic.

Meanwhile local yahoos Mike Felger and Marc Bertrand just said some really, really stupid shit on TV about Jarome Iginla, who was by far our best player tonight. More to come shortly.

P.S. There’s probably tons of spelling and grammar mistakes in there. I’m tired, so fuck off.

Sounds about right, blame it on anything you can, other then the Bruins, they don’t ever do anything wrong.

If you think Rollie Fingers was nice, you don’t know Rollie Fingers. Let’s just say his fingers weren’t just used for a curveball.
