USA TodayA girls high school basketball coach was suspended two games after his team, Arroyo Valley High School (San Bernadino, Calif.) beat the Bloomington, Calif. High School team 161-2.

“People shouldn’t feel sorry for my team. They should feel sorry for his team, which isn’t learning the game the right way,” Bloomington coach Dale Chung said.

Arroyo Valley head coach Michael Anderson said that he was suspended by his school after the game.

It’s hard to imagine how a game could get that out of control. Anderson said that he and Chung talked before the game, and Anderson made it clear he wanted his team to get a full half of good play in as a tune-up for Arroyo Valley’s next game, all of which he said Chung agreed to. Anderson then had his team run a full-court press for the entire first half, a half that ended with the score at 104-1.

It’s unclear why Anderson didn’t think that when his team got up by 60 or so he could maybe take the foot off the gas.

Only in the third quarter did Anderson take his starters out and instruct his players to not shoot until there was less than seven seconds remaining in the shot clock. The referees also went with a running clock in the fourth quarter, as they couldn’t any earlier in the game by state rules.

“It wasn’t a good feeling (afterward),” Anderson said to the Orange County Register. “It’s not something I’m proud of. It’s not something I would put on a mantel.”

First I wanna say that it’s bullshit that baggy pants are still in for black dudes. It’s not fair. I don’t know when it happened, but all of a sudden white guys have to wear skinny jeans. It’s bullshit. Mrs. Turtleboy doesn’t let me where baggy pants anymore because she says it makes me look like a kid. But apparently this new trend ONLY applies to white people. Because every time I turn on the Family Feud Steve Harvey is SWIMMING in his suit

Meanwhile who do we get for trend setters in the white community?

Oh for fuck’s sake. #whitesuitsmatter.

Anyway, I’m kind of split on this one. The Turtleboy in me wants to say, “wussification of America” because a bunch of losers are whining about how much they lost by. I mean, what the fuck Dale Chung?? Shouldn’t this guy be fired because he hasn’t taught his team of losers how to handle a full court press? What he should’ve said afterwards was, “We’re on to Riverside Charter School” But instead he gave us this weak sauce:

“People shouldn’t feel sorry for my team. They should feel sorry for his team, which isn’t learning the game the right way,”

Shut the fuck up Dale Chung. As an impartial third party in all this I can look at this and say, “maybe they could’ve beaten them by 100, instead of 159.” But Dale Chung doesn’t have a right to say that. He should’ve been telling his team what an embarrassing sad sack of shit they were. But instead he’s telling reporters that he feels sorry for the winners. At first I kind of felt bad for his team because they got steamrolled like that. But now I feel bad for them because their coach is a walking va-jay-jay.

But at the same time, 161-2? In a GIRL’S FUCKING BASKETBALL GAME??!! How is that even possible? How are these teams in the same conference together? In high school sports you generally play the same teams every year. What was the score last year when they played? 99-12?

This part got to me:

Anderson said that he and Chung talked before the game, and Anderson made it clear he wanted his team to get a full half of good play in as a tune-up for Arroyo Valley’s next game, all of which he said Chung agreed to.

The two coaches actually SPOKE before the game about how much the good team was gonna beat the shitty team by. That happened. So why the hell are they even playing each other then? And how the hell does beating a bunch of, what I assume are paraplegic 12 year olds, help you get better for the big game against Del Bocca Vista? That’s like saying the Patriots beating the Colts 45-7 got them ready for Seattle. No it didn’t. The coach who got suspended for doing this should’ve put in all the backups and let the starters run suicides during the timeouts. At least then the backups could get some action, build some confidence, and still win by 80. It would be the highlight of their high school careers. Especially since they play girl’s basketball, which by default means they’re not going to the prom.

So in conclusion, no I don’t think it’s wrong that the coach got suspended. Dude is a dooshnozzle and a terrible coach at that. At the same time Dale Chung is a naniburger extraordinaire who should be embarrassed to ever show his face in public again. Everyone involved in this is a loser.

These are the things that happen in this society that create bullying issues. I’m sure the game was not played in silence and the losing team had a lot of courage to stay on the court. Yes I know bullying is getting annoying but the truth of the matter is when a student is embarrassed or feeling low they become frustrated; when they become frustrated they either act out or keep it all inside, neither is a good choice.

I get it, the lopsided victory doesn’t look good, the losing team gets embarrassed, and schools like everything to be “feel good,” but there are important life lessons. Losing sucks and life isn’t fair. To suspend the winning coach for the losing team being that inept is ludicrous. Why not stop there? How about the referee’s who oversaw this disaster? What is a good score to trounce the other team by?

I remember back in little league being on the championship team my first year. We steamrolled every other team. The next year some good players aged out, we came in dead last, and got “mercied” repeatedly. It wasn’t a good feeling, but we didn’t whine and cry. The final year, the players who were on the team from two years prior and the same coach all remembered that winning was good and losing sucked. We won the championship again. Getting your ass handed to you in [insert life’s situation] can be valuable.

They’re learning the game wrong? I thought the point was to score more than the other team. Well fuck me running!

If it was elementary or junior high age, they shouldn’t be running up the score. High school is old enough to learn about getting ahead by crushing the dreams of others. Not to say it’s always the best option, but kids should know it’s on the table.
