People have been complaining that we write too much about the hippie/protester movement. I agree. I’m getting sick of writing about it too, but what are we supposed to do? This is what is in the news. That’s what we do here – we dish out hot takes on the news. And tonight there is going to be a “Black Lives Matter” rally in front of City Hall, to protest the fact that four people who illegally blocked traffic at Kelley Square (Kevin Ksen, Julius Jones, RBG, Sonya Conner) have to answer for their crime spree tomorrow in court.

Well here’s the thing – they are protesting the same people who already offered to dismiss the charges. City Manager Ed Augustus offered them a deal – pinky swear that they won’t block traffic again and he’ll let bygones be bygones. Apparently they found this unacceptable:

See that right there? That’s how compromises are made. Because in life you don’t get everything you want. The fabulous four deliberately broke our laws, impeded traffic, and endangered public safety. Ed Augustus, out of the goodness of his own heart, allowed them a reprieve so long as they agreed not to break our laws and endanger public safety in the future.

And the protesters said “no deal.”

This just proves what we’ve been saying from the beginning – if they don’t get their way on everything then they’re taking their ball and going home. They will shout over you, call you racist, classify your opinion as “hate speech,” and blockade your taxpayer funded streets.

There’s no compromising with people like this. They can’t promise that they won’t break our laws in the future because at the end of the day they are criminals at heart. And breaking the law is what criminals do best.

I know they’re gonna most likely get a stern talking to from the judge and at worst, a CWOF, but for the good of society whoever the judge is needs to throw the book at them. Because they just don’t get it. And if they’re not punished, then they’re going to do it again. Besides the fact that what they did is illegal, they scared the shit out of good, decent, honest people like that truck driver, who was just trying to make money for his family. This right here is kidnapping and terrorism:

The driver is being held hostage and forced to listen to these hippies sing their songs because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And if he protests by honking his horn, then the bogeyman has a right to jump onto his trailer and scare the shit out of him. That’s hippie logic 101.

Sonya Conner is going to continue to teach at Worcester State and will not have a record. Kevin Ksen will continue to covertly organize illegal demonstrations while lurking in the shadows, and will continue to be paid to run Sarai Rivera and State Representative Mary Keefe’s campaigns. But it would be much more difficult for Mary Keefe to bring back a convicted criminal, and for WSU to employ an ex-con. Julius Jones and RBG on the other hand pretty much have nothing to lose.

It’s clear that this whole thing is nothing but fun and games for the hippies. They don’t think anything they’re doing is illegal because they think Martin Luther King Jr. would approve of it. As we’ve pointed out before, MLK had a court-ordered permit to march from Selma to Montgomery. The hippies had no such permit to blockade Kelley Square. If they want to protest on the sidewalk they are more than welcome to. After all, the Supreme Court has ruled that the Westboro Baptist Church can spew their ACTUAL hate speech, so long as they’re not blocking public roads.

But blocking sidewalks won’t get them attention, and at the end of the day attention is what this is all about. They don’t care about civility, conversations, progress, or uniting the community. They are attention whores. Nothing more, nothing less.

On a separate note – are you sick of us using the term “hippie?” Because I know we’ve got a bunch of gnarly hippies who read this blog. It’s nothing personal, it’s just a funny word that South Park made even more hilarious. Vote in the poll above if you haven’t done so already.

The latest from http://www.masslive.com/news/worcester/index.ssf/2015/05/black_lives_matter_protesters.html#incart_river which again scooped the T&G:

Black Lives Matter protesters to face charges next week for blocking Worcester’s Kelley Square

    By Lindsay Corcoran | lindsay.corcoran@masslive.com on May 27, 2015 at 12:55 PM

WORCESTER – After a clerk magistrate found probable cause last month, four Black Lives Matter protesters will be arraigned on Monday on disturbing the peace charges after blocking Kelley Square for roughly four-and-a-half minutes.

Robert Blackwell Gibbs, Kevin Ksen, Julius Jones and Sonya Conner were brought up on the misdemeanor charge by the Worcester Police Department after the Martin Luther King Day protest.

The magistrate did not find probable cause to arraign the four protesters on disorderly conduct, according to paperwork filed in Central District Court.

The case moves forward amid some residents’ calls for Department of Justice officials to investigate the police department’s prosecution of the protesters while they host discussions on race in the city.

City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. and Police Chief Gary J. Gemme said the city tried to reach an agreement with the group rather than file charges. The agreement would have dropped the charges if the group agreed not to block traffic in any other demonstration or protest.

Those who rallied after the magistrates hearing on April 15 said the compromise offered was instead as an attempt by the city to silence protesters who were seeking change and their voices to be heard.

Lawyers for the four protesters said after the magistrate’s hearing that their clients plan to fight the charge, which carries a small fine if found guilty.

“We told the clerk magistrate that whatever conduct they engaged in was in political conduct,” said Gibbs’ lawyer, Hector Pineiro, after the hearing. “These are people who are not going to fold.”

Next time they block the street – what’s stopping a group of us from walking right up to them all – air horn in hand – and blasting their ears??
That should get them to move.

If it’s cool to hate on “hippies”, then it’s cool to hate on whatever your feel like and call it an “opinion”. It may well be an opinion, but it’s also hate. People who hate, hold willfully ignorant opinions about others, and then pussy up with anonymous handles suck.

Take that hate, own it, and do something positive about it. Whatever you think about these protesters and their methods, doesn’t change the fact of racism. Saying that it is other people’s fault is not helping.

You guys are really bent out of shape over this, and I don’t get it. It seems to me that the people with the biggest problem with acknowledging racism are the biggest problem, period.

I don’t think Ed cowered here, I think he made the right move. Why waste tax payer resources on these assholes when a simple compromise could be reached that benefited both the city and the assholes? It’s called being a grown up. Now Ed has the moral high ground and if (hopefully) when the judge sentences them harshly, and the protestors say, “It was for like 5 minutes!!” Ed gets to say we tried to resolve this out of the court system and the asshole brigade declined.

Funny, I’d always thought that one of the consequences of civil disobedience is the threat of jail

These hippie assholes obviously have zero respect for Augustus, the WPD and the city council. I strongly disagree with dropping these charges. That being said, Augustus put his tail between his legs and the hippies still told the city manager to GO FUCK HIMSELF!!!!!!

How stupid and impotent does Augustus look now? He cowered to the hippies and for putting his reputation and self respect on the line, the group told him to kiss their ass!!!

Folks, remember this in the next election……poor decisions….weakness and impotence. Just what I want from my leadership!!!!

I can’t stop thinking about just how fucking dangerous and stupid it was for Big Bobby to jump on that truck.

Truckers tend to be a bit redneckish. And what do rednecks love more than anything?

That’s right, Turtleboys and Turtlegirls – guns!

If that trucker had a gun, he would potentially have been within his rights to shoot Bobby when he jumped his fat, neckbearded ass up on that truck. How did the trucker know he wasn’t about to be the next Reginald Denny? And you just KNOW the muff brigade would have started screaming racism was the motivation in Bobby’s death, as opposed to his own stupidity.

I am a Worcester resident and a parent of two children in WPS, one at North High. I am also a student at Worcester State University, I will never take a class with Sonya Conner as the professor. Plain and simple. I recently met both Mary Keefe and Sarai Rivera, and thought they were two very elequent females and held them in positive regard. Honestly, I’m not sure who Kevin Ksen is, but if I was given the opportunity to vote for these two women and he was involved with running their campaigns, I don’t think either would get my vote.

Maybe then the people of Worcester cant promise not to run these assholes over the next time they pull a stunt like this again.

Offered a way out of their criminal charges, they decline and then protest the charges? These assholes are clearly in this to get themselves in the paper and not at all about the cause.

    FRAUDS

In a fair judicial system the judge would take into account that they turned down the compromise when the judge decides sentencing.

The likelihood is that the judge will just give them a stern talking to, and tell them not to do it again.

It seems that assholes win in this world, and the rest of us have to suffer them.
