I Feel So Dirty Saying This But Elizabeth Warren Did Something Right

I never thought I’d see this day, and I feel dirty just saying it – but I agree with Elizabeth Warren on something.

I need a bath, but she’s so right.

The 2020 presidential candidate on Friday called for the federal government to break up Facebook, Google and Amazon, offering up a proposal that would recategorize the companies as “platform utilities” and reverse some major tech acquisitions. Under the plan, companies with more than $25 billion in global revenue that also act as “an online marketplace, an exchange, or a platform for connecting third parties” would be classified as “platform utilities” that would no longer be able to own a platform and its participants.

I’m man enough to admit when my enemies do something right. If you can’t do that then you have no credibility. And the fact of the matter is that Facebook and Twitter are utilities and should be treated as such. She’s the first senator I’ve ever hears say this. The mere fact that almost everyone in this country has Facebook messenger app installed on their phone, and they use it just as they would text messaging, proves that it’s a utility. Facebook is where your kid’s soccer team makes announcements, and where your kid’s school makes announcements about snow days. It’s no different at this point from your phone company. Verizon can’t cut you off because they don’t like the things you’re saying on the phone. And yet Verizon remains a PRIVATE company, just with some basic rules that make sure people aren’t denied the right to use Verizon’s services.

The only one I’m against regulating is Amazon. Leave Amazon the company alone. Amazon lets me sell their book on their platform because they only thing Jeff Bezos cares about is money. They provide name brand products for cheap and it gets to you quickly. Nothing else matters. Facebook and Twitter don’t do that. They take pride in keeping you off of their platform if you don’t subscribe to their world view. They steal your money and profit off of your data, and then don’t cut you in on the profits. And if you don’t like Amazon you can just order shit directly off of your favorite store’s website. Facebook and Twitter have no real competitors that have the only thing that matters to a social media website – billions of people.

I don’t want the government to completely control these platform, just make sure they’re treating people fairly considering their importance. We’re talking about companies that are powerful enough that foreign agents try to use them to influence our elections. Sorry, but you can’t just assume the people running them have the best intentions.

The only thing that’s gonna suck for Pocahontas is when she figures out that regulating tech companies hurts democrats, since conservatives are disproportionately getting banned.

Now excuse me while I go for a swim in a tub of acid.

Democrats and media are colluding — purposefully baiting and censoring conservatives and classical liberals until we support a government solution. FAUXCAHONTAS can NEVER be trusted!!

Campaign promises, we’ve heard them before. If she was serious, she’d be getting some legislation together NOW. Before it was the banks she wanted to go after, and it’s one, the only one thing she’s ever said,
that I agree with. Remember, as POTUS, she wouldn’t be writing laws and lobbyists will be in full swing against any legislation of this type.

Also, the criteria shouldn’t be revenue. There’s too many ways to shuffle money around, etc.

And, heaven forbid, she did win and advocated for this stuff, the other things she’d do would be awful from a real Americam perspective.

Lizzy Warren is a post menopausal nut job, a shrieking cunt with no message. She reminds me of the dumb bitch AOC they have limited vocabularies so they wave their hands and change the tone of their voice as they speak as if this makes their sophomoric rants more meaningful.

Facebook should be broken up. They are manipulating people and they are using their platform to control what people say and what people read through censorship, which is wrong. They are much too powerful.

As for the other companies, I think it is a bad idea to go after them simply because of their size. IBM could have done much better during the 1970’s had they not had to fight a lawsuit for 12 years, which was brought on by the outgoing Johnson administration. While I don’t personally care for Bezos and his politics, I still don’t see any need to go after Amazon. What they should do is break up the Washington Post.

Breaking up Facebook would nothing about their censorship. The public platform angle is what might do it. Pipe dream at best unless Pubs take back the House, get a super majority in the Senate, and grow some balls.

Supposedly in US, Facebook users are down 15,000,000 from 2017.
They are currently making up new users outside the US.
Overall 2.32 billion users per month are clicking on FB.

Before TB goes fawning over the anti Christ, consider the her motives. She wants to regulate and tax these guys. If for one minute, you think she is doing this because of her love of free market and anti trust policies, you are as delusional as her pink hat SJWs. Do you want to have to meet government standards and then pay a monthly tax to talk to your cousin in Utah on facebook? Facebook is bad enough already with censoring. Wait til Lizzie runs the show

Dammit UT Perhaps you should read Atlas Shrugged (or reread if you forgot its lesson) private businesses struggle under unfair government regulations and control. Useless people leach off these companies. Wealthy business owners GTFO and start a new society. Free of bullshit government interference. Why become a farmer and leave a successful business it was best said in the book. “Because it’s mine” You have the right to keep what you create it’s not there to share with the rest of the country.

Why would you take away something people worked hard to create. It’s not a fucking utility all of the decisions that got these companies to where they are were made privately. It should be the goal of a company to become large have people use your platform because they feel they have to. As the creator of that platform you should maintain control of it. You always have the choice to not use their platform. This is punishing companies for becoming large. A common goal of liberals we won’t work so we’ll punish companies that do.

If you make these companies “Platform utilities” all your doing is creating the slope which will lead to Socialism or Communism. It will be the beginning of the end for our fine Republic. You may not like Twitter and Facebook but you should respect their ability to run themselves and realize how terrible of an idea it is to do this.

Sadly you have done exactly what her lemming base has fallen for. I’m from the government I’m here to help. Ask yourself when the last time this was true was. Every time you try to take $20 out of an ATM and get charged $3.50 thank the government. Every time you pay an additional $25 a month on your cable bill thank the government. Every time you pay an additional $30 a month in fees on your electric bill thank the government. Every time you pay an extra $15 a month on your cell phone bill thank the government. Are you seeing a trend here? The government needs to be involved in business about as much as a clap ridden whore belongs in a nunnery. But feel free to jump on that train that will devolve the greatest country on the planet into a third world hellhole

Amazon? Etc etc. The internet is one of the last bastions of choice. If you content Facebook, you are free to stay away. It’s all about choice. Not sure Lizzie and company should be deciding what I choose to do on the internet

I read the headline the other day and thought that she finally said something that makes some sense. Facebook and google needs to be held accountable somehow. These companies are obviously not donating to her campaign because they know she has no shot of winning. The devil is in the details. I don’t trust her, but something has to be done to these political machines. By the way, facebook is great at releasing private data, I wish they could release her Harvard application!

This problem could be easily solved if Congress were not owned by the tech billionaires.

Designate social media platforms as utilities just like phone companies. The same logic that applies to public accommodations applies here.

If this were 40 years ago it would already be done. Sadly, the corruption of both major parties is so deep that I’m not optimistic. Particularly as one poster noted, when Warren is told to lay off by the DNC bosses because besides Wall Street and Hollywood, Big Tech is one of their prime funders.

    Social Media is Cancer

Wrong. The last fucking thing we need is for the fucking government getting their nose in where it shouldn’t be. The fake indian’s solution to everything is more government intervention and that is not the way to go. Don’t like facebook? Don’t use it. Better yet, since anybody has the capability to start their own like platform, start one yourself and provide some competition.
You should feel dirty for suggesting such nonsense.

Senator Liz (bobble head) warren wants to break up all major business and punish every succesful enterprise outside of Government and “non profits”.

It was only a matter of time before her single-track solution fit a situation.

Like a preacher or radical environmentalist who predicts terrible things happening tomorrow, every day for years or decades (Al Gore). Eventually something terrible does happen tomorrow and they pat themselves on the back for “predicting it and being right”.

I don’t have any choice where my electricity comes from. I need it and it’s the only game in town therefore its regulated since there is no competition. I can on the other hand live without Facebook, Google, etc. In fact I’ve been toying with the idea of logging off of Facebook for good. There are alternatives to Facebook and Google. I have a MeWe account and can use DuckDuckGo for searches. Bottom line: Elizabeth Warren is still a fake Indian moral busybody and she’s still wrong. The big tech companies are not monopolies. The only reason why people have these accounts is because they don’t want to miss out on friendships, but sometimes walking away from frustrating tech is the best way.
