Directv can go straight to hell:

Hey Maura Healey, where you at? You’re awful good at banning inanimate objects, trying to shut down legitimate businesses like Nashoba Winery, and coming to Worcester to investigate this blog for hate crimes.

But you’re not very good at standing up for consumers who are being bamboozled by gigantic corporations like Directv. Which is weird, because this is why the Attorney General exists – to stop businesses from preying on customers like this.

Fuck Directv and their bullshit list of excuses. This was my favorite:

Screen Shot 2016-08-07 at 12.30.54 AM

No, you don’t get to blame this on WHDH. Know why? Because I don’t pay WHDH $130 a month. I pay Directv $130 a month. The Turtleboy family grew up without cable. We got by because we got NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX. Just think about that for a second. When you pay $0 you get NBC and thus you can watch the Olympics. But when you pay $130 a month, you can’t. Because that makes TONS of sense.

And just for the record, all those other channels are airing the crappy events that no one wants to watch. I have zero interest in Sweden vs. New Zealand in women’s soccer. I don’t give a shit who wins the gold in fencing. I want to watch swimming and gymnastics in week 1, and track and field in week 2. Because those are the sports that matter.

Then there’s this:

Screen Shot 2016-08-07 at 12.27.07 AM 1

Stop telling me to watch it on the livestream. First of all, that requires daytime viewing, when normal people are working. Secondly, that requires solid Internet connection, which sometimes can be shitty because we’re stuck with Verizon. Thirdly, this means I can’t go on Facebook or do other things on my computer while the Olympics are streaming. And most importantly, I have a 60 inch TV with surround sound. That’s where I want to watch the Olympics. Not on my 10 inch lap top or phone.

Seriously, the balls on these idiots. Ya know who can watch the Olympics on the livestream? Anyone. Including people who don’t pay $130 a month for Directv.

Some people said that they’d have this figured out by the time the Olympics start, but they clearly didn’t quite grasp how little Directv gives a shit about its customers. Almost everyone in Turtleboy’s social circles has Directv. This is affecting millions of people. If Maura Healey isn’t gonna fight for millions of people who are paying for a service that isn’t being provided, then she’s completely useless and should resign.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens with nbc in January. I hope they don’t pull out. If they do channel 7 will slowly fade away into nonexistance. I don’t want to see Bree Eggers go by by,or jaddain thompson either. Keep Keep m Khasie and let all the other hacks go

I got so sick of the cable ripoff, I cancelled charter tv a few months ago… just kept the internet. I’m going to try an hd antenna. I get movies through Amazon.

Good luck with that. Charter with throttle your bandwidth — guaranteed. They do this to regulate network traffic and minimize bandwidth congestion.

Healey won’t do a thing guaranteed. She’s obviously a bought and paid sellout to the system. Far as Direct TV, Charter and all the other ripoff providers. Their day is coming, when they will be a thing of the past. Many are cancelling daily, just keeping the internet only, if that. Some cancel it all, especially the young who set the trends. Just a matter of time !

Joe Max — If you don’t have Charter or DirecTV, who do you have for your TV provider?? If people use just their internet to watch shows, then the internet prices will go up. Supply/Demand 101.

$130 a month?? That must be without any movie channels or extra stuff, because we paid a crap-ton more than that! DirecTV kept adding all kinds of extra costs to our bill each month, so we dumped them after 17 years. Just got to be too expensive. Highly recommend dumping DirecTV.

I actually missed that point! Wow! I just looked at my Charter bill. $168 includes expanded channels, phone and high speed internet. Company reimburses me for the Internet (about $60 a month) as I work from home.

$130 a month just for boob toob seems ridiculous.

TB you sound like one of those butt hurt SJW snowflakes on this issue. Do you need a warm blanket, cup of hot chocolate and a safe place to cry?

My understanding is that the owner of WHDH wanted to raise the rate Directv paid to air their channel. Which Directv of course would have passed right on down to us the subscribers. Since as of next January 1, WHDH will no longer be Boston’s NBC channel I’m assuming Directv decided (rightly in my opinion, although admittedly I have no fucks to give re: the Olympics) not to pay the higher fee to renew their contract for 5 months.
But I can understand your frustration if you’re interested in the Olympics. That said, I think Directv made the right decision…

WHDH is an over-the-air free station. If you don’t have cable you can get it for free with a modern-day converter box. Same with 2, 4, 5, and 25. When NBC moves to a low power station and if you can’t get it over the air or have poor reception, you can watch NBC 10 out of Providence.

Direct TV has sucked since way back! I am not one to bitch about media services but I had a battle with them about the NFL Football ticket scam they had going back in the day all to the tune of $400 more on my bill. Needless to say I haven’t had them in years and have no issues whatsoever with what I want to watch. Also if you have internet problems with Verizon you need to boost your speed!

The Olympics are here again? Don’t care. The games are silly, mean nothing, Brazil is a shithole, Rio is the pucker and the Olympic Committee is corrupt.

DirectTV like the cable companies have become nasty. They collect money from customers and shell it out to support stations few actually watch. If viewers could choose what stations to actually pay for – local news, HBO, sports, there would be about 15 channels as the rest would have too little revenue to continue. The cable companies do the same thing.

The FireTV is a good suggestion. Roku is another.

I hate to say this turtleboy, but it’s time to cancel your subscription to DirecTV. If everyone that complains about the Olympics did this, then DirecTV would listen and do something about it. BTW the opening ceremonies had the lowest TV ratings since the 92 Olympics in Barcelona.

Get a Fire TV from Amazon. You can watch the Olympics on the NBC Sports app right on your television.
