Saw this news today and almost burst the seem of my pants:

Had Chick-fil-A once. It was fantastic. Tried the new Popeyes in Worcester. Overrated. To me, this is a great day for the City of Worcester. Of course you knew the second you saw this headline that the butthurts would be lining up since the CEO of Chick-fil-A gave money to anti-gay marriage political groups. A few years back Boston Mayor Tom Menino said that he wasn’t gonna allow them to open up in his city and blah, blah, blah. They ended up telling him to go fuck himself and they opened up restaurants in Peabody, Burlington, Framingham, and Westboro instead, because the people that run those cities don’t mix politics with delicious chicken.

Right on cue, here they are:

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 7.59.17 PM

Yea, what we need is a more powerful, fascist-like local government that can arbitrarily decide what food people can purchase on the free market. That’s MY KIND of country!!! LOL. The fact that Ellen has a hyphenated last name is the least surprising thing I’ve ever seen on the Internet.

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 8.41.03 PM

Ummmmm…..isn’t our City Manager…..ya know……….just sayin. If he’s cool with it, then what exactly is the problem?

Cool story bro. We were all wondering what you were going to NOT eat for lunch. Now we know. How will they ever survive?

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 8.07.12 PM

Hate? Look, Turtleboy has NEVER had a problem with gay marriage. We’re not one of these Obama/Hillary progressives who only came around on the issue after Maclemore won a Grammy. We’ve never had a beef with it. If two dudes or two chicks wanna get married, Turtleboy could care less. None of our business. But we know a lot of people that don’t want gay marriage, and as misguided as we believe they are, they’re certainly not hateful. They’re just not thinking rationally.

But this is the shit we HATE. We HATE when people label speech and opinions they disagree with as “hate” speech. It’s just such a cheap cop out and it’s meant to end a debate instead of discussing it rationally like adults.

But Josh, do ya know what you could have as a side with your chicken? Greek yogurt parfait or Hearty Breast of Chicken Soup. Find me another chain restaurant with that on the menu. You can’t.

And that’s why this is all ridiculous. Chick-fil-A is here to serve us food. Good food at that. Since when did we start giving a shit what the politics of a chain restaurant’s CEO’s are? When you go into McDonalds do you ask Grimace about what his thoughts on partial birth abortion are? No. Because you went in there for Big Mac. If Chick-fil-A were giving money to Planned Parenthood or doctor assisted suicide would this be a big deal? I mean, there are people who disagree with those things, so that means they shouldn’t be allowed to do business right?

Oh yea, only certain politics should be banned. How silly of me. This is why Massachusetts can’t have nice things. And this too:

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 8.05.51 PM

Oh for fucks sake. It’s shocking that businesses don’t wanna open up here. Shocking.

And of course Worcester’s favorite social justice warrior moron had to chime in:

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 8.07.50 PMScreen Shot 2016-03-22 at 8.08.03 PM

This coming from a woman who spits nothing but vitriol whenever the name “Maureen Binienda” is brought up. She’s probably the most hateful person in Worcester, but she doesn’t want a chicken place to open up here because the CEO is a right winger. Makes sense.

Here’s my question – how long until Jumpin’ Joe Petty and Jim McGovern voice their opposition to this? Those two NEVER miss an opportunity to score some SJW points. Then again this appears to have happened with the blessing of Ed Augustus, so it looks like it might be all good in the hood.

The bottom line is we should NEVER let politics interfere with economic expansion. Without businesses opening up here we’re losing out on thousands and thousands of dollars annually in property and business taxes. These can help fund our schools, repair our streets, and protect our communities. But apparently we don’t want those kind of things in Worcester because a fast food restaurant’s CEO doesn’t support gay marriage. This is why Worcester can’t have nice things.

Funny, I don’t recall any of these SJW’s boycotting Subways after there spokesman was found to be a pedophile.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. Given how badly the city needs new businesses , they SHOULD NOT be picky on which companies get to stay here. We need all of that we can get – even if that means you disagree with their political or religious viewpoints.

I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that the city will find some way to make it extremely difficult for Chick Fil A from remaining here.

I agree that two dudes or chicks getting married is none of my business either and if that’s what they want, then so be it. And, yes I also believe that people against gay marriage are misguided, but saying that they aren’t hateful is not quite right. Yes, many are simply not thinking rationally, but there are many who, due to this irrationality, certainly are hateful. It may not be the majority (I hope) but saying they don’t exist is factually incorrect.

Also, never having asked Grimace about partial birth abortions is a little different than if he came out and said he supports them or gave money to groups that did. If one of those were the case and it came out in the media, you can be certain that there would be just as much outrage from the right about McDonalds as there is from the left about Chik-fil-a. There would also be just as much of the opposite, just like when Huckabee (I think it was him) had that thing where he called Christians to go to Chik-fil-a on a certain day to show support for the CEO. I don’t agree that politicians should step in and try to prevent a business from opening based on political beliefs, but I also don’t like when they do the opposite and help a business profit on the basis of political beliefs.

I’m not sure when it happened but people have for a long time been at least observant of a CEO’s politics and do business with them accordingly. Be it customers or other businesses, there are always consequences for these actions and publicized beliefs. This type of thing can run the gambit from ruin to resurrection for a business or even an individual. Its why companies choose carefully who they advertise with and when. I’m sure it happens here too, some of your sponsors probably see both increases and decreases in business based solely on the fact that they advertise with Turtleboy. There are and will always be people who will refuse to shop somewhere based on an ad or where they see an ad, just as there will always be people who will go out of their way to shop somewhere based on the very same ad in the very same place. As a business, you always hope for a net increase but you have to realize that every move a CEO makes publicly will have both positive and negative consequences.

We are supposed to live in a free society where a business can open wherever it wishes based on zoning and other laws pertaining to that type of business and not based on the politics of an owner or CEO. And we are also supposed to be free enough to protest (peacefully) or patronize that opening based on the politics that come along with that business or for whatever whim we decide. There seem to be many people who do not realize that personal freedom applies to everyone, not just them. Personal freedom allows everyone to do whatever they wish, but stops at the point where an attempt is made to constrain the actions of others.

    March 23, 2016 at 9:41 am

If you don’t like them, then don’t patronize them. Just don’t tell others what kinds of businesses are acceptable. I personally don’t eat that kind of crap, but if they want to open up a store, they should be able to do so, provided they do not violate any zoning ordinances, unlike the nonprofits that are allowed to place group homes in neighborhoods that are zoned single family residential.

The waffle fries are out of bounds. The restaurants are clean. The staff is polite, dressed well, and friendly. The one in Framingham is shockingly good and has long lines nearly all day long. They have a “cage” at each table called a “cell phone coop” that they offer for everyone to put their phones in so that people talk to each other, and the staff, instead of staring at phones. They ran a special (might still be) for a while saying if you do this all meal, you get free ice cream for dessert. If they served beer they would have to remove me with a tow truck. More please.

Not only are the restaurants beyond clean, but heads up parents of small children…their play areas are generally 1000x cleaner than any McDonald’s play area I’ve ever seen.

Also the kids’ meal premiums are not the cartoon-inspired crap like McD’s…they have a choice of board books for the really young children or other reading or activity books for the older ones. The books are sometimes classics (Piniocchio, The Secret Garden, Oliver Twist!) or sometimes current fiction or non-fiction (animal themes, science, etc.)
In the past, they’ve had science/nature themed items in the meals, such as toy binoculars and little Coleman-style lanterns. Not as educational, but lots of fun- they have had very cool cow-themed watches at Christmas time. Sometimes during the summer they have scaled down versions of travel games (one year, games were by Blue Orange games).
So, it is a clean place to take the kids (especially when you are sick of playing in the cold and snow) and the “toys” the little ones get are actually educational and worth hanging on to.

Oh, and it varies due to local franchise owners and mgmt, but many CFA’s offer community fundraising nites for schools. Also,my local CFA has a bingo for seniors one morning a week (prizes are coupons for free food) and a story time for children one morning a week (employee reads a book to the children, there is drawing and one child gets to take the book home, and they have a craft time afterward).

      CFA rocks.

  • Ugh, this again?

Honestly I don’t see what the big deal is. We’re in a free market economy, so just because they’re there doesn’t mean you have to eat there. I’m bi and prefer KFC btw, but honestly I don’t get these protests.

LGBT rights activists, I love you all, but there are much bigger issues facing the LGBT community like LGBT homelessness and employment discrimination, so focus on those, not on who’s making chicken sandwiches!

Who is this Natalie O’Hayre “chick” ? She doesn’t want to complain about the terrible things going on around the world, but she wants to complain about this. Typical Bernie supporter. Hey Natalie, you don’t have the right to decide where other people should eat. The consumer is the one that decides.

This is not just about the CEOs political beliefs. They are activists for this cause. The company actively provides funding to anti-gay groups. Therefore a portion of what you spend at the store goes to promote anti-gay groups. That alone is reason enough for me to decide not to patronize that restaurant chain.

Chick -fil- A has a reputation of paying rather well. High school kids brag when they get a job there and tell the other kids what they get per hour. No Sundays either. Bernie hateful cellar dwellers that hate anyone getting ahead won’t be filling out applications nor have any money to spend there anyway so who gives a shit what they think. Plus I don’t like the smell of musk when I am eating. Or any other time .

I killed Andrew McDonough on June 13, 1992. I also tried to prevent his family from testifying at my parole hearing.

Panera is twice as good as Chik fi la. There chicken is horrid. It will be comical to watch the ,”I am straight not gay as my chest is out and I am manly and not gay as I eat at Chik fi la….” lmao.

The pink izods, jogging sneakers and slayer t shirts will be lining up so everyone will know that they are not gay.

Hey, it may be a good concept. It is like Hannaford supermarket in Lunenburg compared to Market Basket in Fitchburg.
The food is much cheaper in Fitchburg and more fresh. People will shop at Hannaford and other supermarkets because mostly izod wearing, tennis shoes stuck up white people are exclusive to their customer base.

So, no shit, they will pay much more for not as fresh food as market basket.lmao
