Washington PostJackie Robinson West, the Chicago-area team that won the U.S. championship in the Little League World Series last summer, has been stripped of its title after an investigation found the team used ineligible players in an attempt to build a super-team.

The Chicago South Side team, whose players were African-American and raised hopes that the game would enjoy a resurgence among young blacks, was found to have used players who live outside its geographic area. On Wednesday morning, Little League International announced its decision, saying that the U.S. championship would now go to the Mountain Ridge team from Las Vegas. Its investigation determined that Jackie Robinson West used a falsified boundary map and that team officials met with neighboring Little League districts in Illinois to claim players.

Chris Janes, vice president of the Evergreen Park Athletic Association on Chicago’s South Side, told Chicago’s ABC affiliate that his group was suspicious of the super-team, especially after JRW outscored it 43-2 in a little over four innings in a sectional playoff game.

“We even went through public records, voter registration, vehicle registration,” James said. “We pulled up everything to the point we were satisfied making the accusation.”

What have you done wrong with your life, when you find yourself in the position of going through public records, voter registration, and vehicle registrations for a bunch of 11 and 12 year old kids who just had one of the greatest experiences of their life? Who gives a shit if they live outside the district? It was great for the game of baseball. It was great for your city. It made everyone happy. They got to go to the White House. You could tell people you knew them. You could tell people you were the team that lost to them 43-2 and it would’ve been understandable. Seriously though? 43-2 how does that even happen in 2015? That would seem to violate a shmorgishborg  of anti-bullying laws.

But you had to make it all about you Chris James. You just couldn’t come to terms with the fact that your crappy team was emasculated. If I ever get like this with Turtleboy Jr. then I need to get taken out back out put to sleep. And the nice children who inspired young African-American children from all over the country to play baseball are all of a sudden “cheaters.” This probably happens all the time. Aaron Alvey probably had three kids already by the time he beat Worcester for the title back in ought two.

Personally I think this was all a set up. Deflategate-style. Why are they waiting until now to do this? Why is it the team that got destroyed that’s the whistle blower? What are they hoping to accomplish here besides disgracing a champion? What we have here is the Gordon Bombay of Chicago Little League. Except no one wants to see Adam Banks play on the crappy team anymore. We want him on the good team that actually has a shot to make it to the LLWS. You divide these kids up and they’re not doing shit. Put an all-star team together by ignorning the rules. THAT’S the Chicago way.

Things have gotten so bad down there that the Jackie Robinson Little League has been forced to call in the big guns – the Jesse Jackson.

FSR Jesse Jackson. I totally forgot about the Reverend Jackson and thought of something right after watching this – why didn’t the Patriots have Jesse the Preacher represent us during DeflateGate? Just tell him the NFL was bullying us. The guy is basically a dooshnozzle for hire. Just send him a briefcase full of cash and he could speak for the Patriots while Bill Belichick game plans. It accomplishes two things – 1) It causes a perfect distraction/circus, 2) It would’ve given the Patriots more time to practice. We probably would’ve won the Super Bowl by 50 if we weren’t burdened by that nonsense.

But seriously, anyone who didn’t see this coming from a mile away just hasn’t been paying attention. These kids are from Chicago. This is a city where dead people are only allowed to vote five times per election. Like, if you’re the mayor of Chicago, I assume there is at least a 35% chance you’re going to federal prison at some point. So adding a kid to a Little League team from across some imaginary boundary seems like one of the more harmless scams to come out of there.

I love how the mother presents it as a choice – either the boys were gonna play in the LLWS, or they were gonna get killed in the streets. Because apparently those are the only two choice for 12 year olds in Chicago. Fly to the middle of Pennsylvania for a week, or pick a gang and go down swinging.

Oh yea, and that kid’s speech at the end was awesome. He speaks better than 95% of professional athletes. When a 12 year old gets up there you expect them to just spew nonsense and act nervous. But that kid was good under pressure man. He should give Ally Raisman some speaking lessons.

Anyway, I don’t care that this team cheated and neither should you. And if I’m the Vegas team there’s absolutely no way I accept this award. Get out of my face with your pity trophy. The bottom line is the coach calling them out for it now is a whining loser Colts-loving baby. The Jackie Robinson Little League team has always been and will always be winners until the day they die.

Usually like your stuff but this sucked. 100% opposite of hitting the nail on the head with this article. Promoting cheating among elementary school aged kids? That’s just pathetic.

This is 100% on the coaches, league officials and parents. Yes, they broke the rules and yes they should have their title stripped. I’d like to see the person(s) responsible for this shit storm have to sit the kids down and explain to them that the end result all of their hard work and dedication last year was not going to count….because some parent or coach cheated, tried to beat the system and got caught.
    Sucks for the kids.

Cold take here Turtleboy. Imagine how pissed you would be when you found out the team that destroyed you was an illegally constructed All-Star team.

To be fair tho I’m sure it has been done in the past. Little leagues had legitimite ways recruiting players to a district to form a power team by via affluent parents moving and these kids being less fourtante parents could not move them into the Jackie Robinson district. So I’m torn in other words. Sucks for the kids shame on the coaches.

Ya they were nasty but someone had to have known they were in the wrong. Don’t play the violence in Chicago race card either. I feel bad for the kids but If we put together a central mass all star squad every year I’m sure we would dominate too but that’s not the name of the game so yes strip them of their title. Fuck that. Jesse Burket vs. The entire Chicago south side isn’t fair. Putting together an all-star squad is almost worse than signing a 20 year old danny amonte.

Aren’t there rules? Were they broken? Then yes, they forfeit.
