Hate to crap on a local high school, but this is one of the most hilarious and yet sad tweets we’ve ever seen:

Screen Shot 2017-03-15 at 9.43.10 PM Screen Shot 2017-03-15 at 9.43.58 PM Screen Shot 2017-03-15 at 9.44.09 PM Screen Shot 2017-03-15 at 9.44.18 PM

Oh FFS. Michelle Obama’a been gone for two months and this is what happens?

I’m not gonna pretend to know the first thing about what is going on here. All I see is a tweet that says, “love seeing PE class integrate technology.” And I think it speaks to a bigger problem – schools try to adapt to kids instead of vice versa.

Hey schools – stop trying to be hip and cool. Stop trying to speak to kids on their level. Yes, we all know children are addicted to iMachines and the days of neighborhood kids getting together and playing 3 on 3 or home run derby are long gone. But it’s not our job to adapt to them. It’s their job to adapt to us. Because that’s clearly the type of thinking that led to this tweet.

“Kids are different now. They don’t read books because they don’t have attention spans like we did in the 90’s.”

Shut up and read the book or you don’t get dinner. End of story.

“Integrating technology” is more than likely the latest buzzword administrators shove down teacher’s throats. And I’m 100% pro-technology in the classroom. Except for physical education. Gym class was the greatest 45 minutes ever growing up. Don’t take it away from kids so we can help them become mindless zombies.

Anyway, the fact that it’s since been deleted tells you that whoever is behind this account realized how dumb this looked. Which once again shows that some adults should stay far, far away from social media and stop trying to speak to kids on their own level.

Never happened in my day. We looked forward to PE Class. Some guys would try to get into a second class skipping study hall to play B-Ball , knee football, or Coach Rowden’s famous crab soccer. In the spring go out back and play in a softball game. Interaction was with others, not a freakin IPad. No wonder there’s no winners anymore, only “participants”. Somebody please get these kids off their butts.

The comments here are ridiculous. A student from LHS posted below with the true meaning of the picture and “adults” are STILL leaving comments calling KIDS fat and lazy. Nothing like an adult bully to give our children low self esteem…..

I has nothing to do with bullying the kids. No more than it is the “not my kid” syndrome. If your kid has low self-esteem, maybe you parents should look in the mirror. I think if the kids had gathered around the teacher and had an open discussion, they would have learned more than the teacher laying in the middle of the floor just watching everyone.

Leicester principle & school super should be proud of this ……. not that it would address obese kids, but they don’t even have they leadership to make these kids do simple physical activity, which is what PE is ……. go collect your paychecks leaders

This is why the majority of kids today are fat and physically worthless. I’m surprised they weren’t passing out Oreos.
Dont blame the schools, blame the parents. Take away the phones and Ipads and send them outside.

The majority of kids are fat because they took a quiz the first few minutes of gym before exercising? That makes a ton of sense.

I took this class just last year. We did the same exact thing but with paper and pencil so the Chromebook was probably much more efficient. The quicker you finish the quiz, the quicker you get to the day’s activity. Get your head out of your ass.

BS. It’s all on compooter so the “quiz” can be done at home. Then click send.
It’s not two minutes, it’s 15 minimum. By the time you get everyone quiet, get them logged in to the quiz, get it completed, wait for the last person who is the PE dumbass, it’s 15 minutes.
      Wait of time questions:
      Is soda good for you?
How much exercise do you need per day? Multiple choice.
Should you get 7 hours of sleep per night?
      Etc.
Worse than the drivers license test.

Get your head out of your ass! Yeah let’s use Chrome books everywhere. That way we won’t have to teach our kids how to write. You are delusional if you think this whole thing took 2 minutes. Then I would hope they would change into some kind of gym closthes. So, now how much time is left for gym class. Maybe that’s where the 2 minutes comes in.

  • Leicester HS Parent
    March 16, 2017 at 9:35 am

It was 2 min of class. RELAX. Two minutes of gym is not why kids are obese or mindless zombies. This school gym teacher is an incredible teacher and this principal is 100% behind their athletics. Let’s not try to take a small snapshot of a class and make it an indictment on the entire educational system.

It’s not just LHS it’s all the schools……Pathetic considering they are trying to teach the kids to stay healthy and keep moving. WHAT A JOKE!!! The funniest part…..they get a zero for not being in appropriate gym wear!!! HA!

It’s too bad that that’s not the situation here. It was 2 min. Let’s not make this the end of the world.

I remember when I was in gym, my friend and I were so bad the gym teacher pleaded with us to stop and said he’d give a C if we just hang out in the locker room and play chess. We made our female gym teacher cry. One time I whipped a basketball clear across the gym and it beaned this kid on the head. He didn’t even see it coming. It was hilarious. He fell to the ground crying and my friend and I fell to the ground laughing. I miss high school.

So, explain to me why you need your cell phone in PE class? Someone up there needs to grow a set and make them leave it in the locker during PE class

It’s really sad to see this. I have subbed at some schools here on the south shore and it is nothing like this.

The whole kids have short attention spans thing as to why they don’t read? Give me a break. My kid is 7 and reads every day, she has read some of her books 3,4,5, times. And these aren’t picture books either.

This is just laziness by the teacher and administrators.

I’m with you. Someone said they were learning the rules of volleyball. You can explain the rules of volleyball in 5 minutes. Then he said they played volleyball as soon as they finished. Really? In there street clothes? Look at the picture again. You will see the teacher laying down in the middle of the floor. Ridiculous.

I attend LHS and we only take a two minute quiz about the sport we played. If this was on paper this would not be a huge thing. I like taking the test on the chrome book it’s alot quicker to get back to PE and exercise like you want us doing. Also you know the grade right away instead of waiting for the teacher to correct them. Our principal is great and has done nothing to hinder us.

Good for you standing up for your principal …… She truly cares

Curious what sport people were playing with hoodies and long pants.

    • March 16, 2017 at 3:40 pm

My boys use chrome books at our local schools as well. Clearly, the picture should have been researched before conclusions were jumped to. I think it’s great that you stood up for yourself here and I hope TB does a retraction to clarify the true meaning to the pictures. No need for a perfectly good school to get a bad reputation over assumptions.

Auburn’s ol’ Becky Colokathis (who celebrated her 50th year as a Phys Ed teacher when I was a student at Auburn HS in the early 2000’s) would be beating the shit out of these kids with a badminton racquet if she could, with Brian Davis not far behind swishing his “iced coffee” that I suspect was Irish coffee.

Now I know it’s been a long time since I was in high school, the 1920’s, but I enjoyed gym. The older fellas used to drag me in the shower to beat me. The whole time I was begging for someone to take my virginity. And then one day it happened! Someone, I wish I knew who it was, jammed a barbell up into my rectum. Which is where it stayed for days. *Sigh* This was also my first exposure to kegel exercises for men. My anus could do 5 sets of 10 with that barbell up there. Had to remove it though since the wrestling team needed a full set of weights. That barbell held my smell for the rest of the school year! I’ll always remember my first!
