Pretty sad day for police everywhere, as State Trooper Thomas Clardy was killed today after his unmarked cruiser was struck on the side of I-90 while he was conducting a traffic stop.

Just a sad, sad, terrible thing. The man had six kids. When you look at the guy’s Facebook page you realize how much this is going to affect what appears to be a happy and healthy family. I can’t even imagine what those poor children and his wife are going through. The Hillman show tomorrow on 107.3 is gonna be having some sort of fundraiser for him. I would suggest giving to that instead of the inevitable faux GoFundMe’s that will soon pop up.

It just shows how dangerous it is to be a police officer. Any day can be your last. People see State Troopers out there and think their jobs are easy because they’re running radar guns and pulling people over. But that’s just because most of us are normal people and think normally. There are irresponsible, dangerous people out there, and the police are the ones who protect us from them.

Every time they make a traffic stop something like this can happen. There’s a million and one ways drivers can be distracted now. I don’t know what this particular driver, David Njuguna of Webster, was doing before he ran into Trooper Clardy’s vehicle. But he came right at him across three lanes of traffic and was apparently going at a high rate of speed. He has since been arrested.

I have a hard time believing that he was texting and then drifted across three lanes of traffic before ramming into a stationary vehicle. I also have a hard time believing this was caused by drugs or alcohol, simply because he could’ve crashed anywhere on the highway, so the odds that he would go off the road in the one spot where a stationary unmarked vehicle was located is slim to none. Likewise I have a hard time believing the driver had a heart attack or a seizure, simply because the odds that this would happen right before he passed a cop’s car are unlikely.

Assuming that this driver did not purposely drive into the car, which would be insane, we would guess that he was going 90 mph, saw the state trooper, slammed onto this brakes (which lots of people do when they’re speeding and see a cop), slightly turned the wheel and got into a skid. Doesn’t really matter for now. All that matters is that six kids won’t get to hug their Dad tomorrow morning before they go to school. Our thoughts and prayers obviously go out to his family and law enforcement everywhere. Scary world we are living in.Screen Shot 2015-12-01 at 10.29.56 AM

You would think that this would unite everyone together, but you would be wrong. Here’s a comment left by a Worcester “activist” named Aslan King , who has been a vocal critic of Turtleboy as some sort of “hate blog,” on Masslive:

Screen Shot 2016-03-16 at 8.54.18 PM

Cop gets hit by a car and his first response is to blame cops for driving fast on the highway. Quality individual right there. Feel free to make this upstanding citizen Internet famous.

This is the same guy who has blamed Turtleboy repeatedly for being responsible for Jessica Conway’s death, after the troubled, drug addicted mother of deceased toddler Ava Conway, died from a heroin overdose.

Screen Shot 2016-03-16 at 9.49.14 PM

He wanted the Worcester Police to investigate us because we suggested that it was a bad idea to raise money via a GoFundMe for such a troubled woman:

Screen Shot 2015-09-03 at 3.50.14 PM

He also harasses small businesses by giving them shitty Yelp reviews:

Supports protesters who stand on the highway and block traffic because they hate cops:

Hates the St. Patrick’s Day Parade:

Led a boycott of Turtleboy Sports:

And runs a Facebook page called “Stop the Hate in the 508”

This is what pisses us off about people like Aslan King. They pretend like they have the moral highground because they use the hashtag #blacklivesmatter. They pretend to be humanitarians, always looking out for the little guy who is being oppressed. But in reality they’re just miserable cop-hating losers who have to take a tragic situation and find a way to make it worse.

RIP Thomas Clardy

One more thing. It seems like Aslan didn’t know the officer was killed. I didn’t know either until I opened this blog, I myself received a masslive alert a half hour past noon that only said he was injured. Aslan said “Hope for a speedy recovery.” Sounds like he just didn’t know how bad it was, and he was at least wishing the officer would be okay.

Or maybe he was wishing the other driver a speedy recovery…that sounds more plausible given this guy’s rants.

BTW – “SPEEDY recovery”? Is this Aslan King guy that stupid, that insensitive, or both?

Aslan you creepy looking little thing , when you finally do take that bad dose of herion and lay lifeless and blue on the floor I hope the first responders follow all the traffic laws including red lights and stop signs trying to get to the shithole u live in.. .

First of all, my condolences to the police officer’s family.

Here’s the real problem. Law enforcement is too focused on someone exceeding the speed limit. Aggressive and reckless drivers are much more dangerous. I’ve been on the pike and on 495 and have seen drivers cut off others, weave in-and-out of traffic, and get on someone’s tail, with the intent of intimidating them. These are the real problems we all face and drivers, such as this, need to be removed from the road. They are more likely to cause an accident than someone exceeding the speed limit.

Right. People seem to think any criticism of police on highways is disrespecting the victim. This is a tragedy, I feel horrible for his family and he obviously didn’t deserve it. I think the lashing out is kind of unjustified. The fact is, whenever there’s a lot of attention given to a story about police on roads, people will bring up issues they have with police on roads because everyone is focused on that topic. If anything, it brings more attention to the victim and more people will see it and lend the family their support. This is just a hit piece by Turtleboy, he has a beef with this King clown and he just wants to poop on him.

I just drove Seattle to Worcester. The roads are no different but the speed limit is 80 out there. Speeding tickets are merely for revenue enhancement for the state and insurance companies. Stopped by the side of an interstate is not safe. It should not be done unless absolutely necessary.
The reason cops speed is because if they do the speed limit everyone around them freaks and drives too slow. The reason commuter traffic is routinely doing 80 is because strict enforcement causes traffic jams.

    • Noodly Appendage
      March 17, 2016 at 8:14 am

Pardon me. Perhaps part of what you say of speeding tickets is correct, however the enforcement of traffic laws are for more than just show.

You know that moron endangering everyone needling in and out of traffic at 90 mph? He cares a whole hell of a lot more about his wallet than your life.

You know that guy swerving back and forth between lanes? He cares a whole hell of a lot more about his buzz than your life.

Police officers partol the roads in an effort to maintain order. Go drive in India or China and see how much you like their driving standards.

The only punishment the officers can give out for reckless driving are penalties that hit us in the wallet. You can bet your ass you drive the speed limit when you even suspect one is around.

Even so, a father and husband is dead. He was a good man who was struck by someone who crossed three lanes to hit him. Maybe it was intentional.

I don’t give two poos about how you feel about the issuance of traffic infractions. We all know the law about moving to the center lane for the safety of the officer. Don’t blame their jobs on the recklessness and carelessness of others.

How can anybody with any kind of conscience not feel terrible for State Trooper Thomas Clardy and especially his family of six children. A couple of hippies complain of Cops driving fast in the left lane of the Highways.

COULD IT BE POSSIBLE THAT THEY ARE RESPONDING TO AN INCIDENT? HOW ABOUT MAYBE TRYING TO CATCH UP TO SOME ASSHOLE WHO THINKS HE OR SHE IS FUCKING BURT REYNOLDS SPEEDING IN A 1978 PONTIAC TRANS AM YELLING, “YEEE HAAAW!”?

    Get over yourselves hippies.

RIP Trooper Clardy. You will not be forgotten.

God forbid people try to start a conversation about police safety on the mass pike. Clearly any comments that aren’t “My heart goes out to his family” is disrespectful.

        March 17, 2016 at 5:45 pm

There is a time and place for everything…complaining about troopers stopping speeders after one just got killed by a speeder, ain’t the time.

          March 17, 2016 at 9:19 pm

I disagree, I think starting discussions in this sort of scenario is nothing but good. If we censor all discussion for being “insensitive,” the reaction to these tragedies will start and end with people just saying “that’s awful” and quickly forgetting about it. With useful idiots like Aslan King, people keep discussing related matters, the story stays fresh in people’s minds and his family can get even more support and attention. That’s why Turtleboy’s post is genius, he gave people something to get passionate and mad about instead of just stating the facts where people would say “my heart goes out to his family” before watching Better Call Saul and going to bed.

Tact? Oh please. We have TB using this story to attack a man because he’s butthurt about him. Leaving a negative review is “harassing small businesses?” What a joke. It’s obvious TB just dislikes this guy and wants to twist everything he does to make him look bad and he’s using this tragedy to do it. Tell me about tact.

  • Kevin Lynch
    March 16, 2016 at 11:05 pm

It is a tragedy. Prayers to this man’s family. Over the past year as I travel the highways and see all kinds of construction I wonder why we can’t build a pull over lane where possible to be used for traffic stops and disabled vehicles.
I understand such a lane may not be able to be constant but we could accomplish this lane for most of the highways.
It is just so very deadly to be in the breakdown lane. I always move over as I think that is a good law but I just feel we could do better by having pockets of road that are offset from the main highway where possible.
    This is a horrible tragedy.

What do the way officers drive on the pike have to do with this tragedy? Because people feel officers drive irresponsibly is justification that this officer, while stationary, was struck and killed. His life has been cut short and it doesnt matter how other officers drive. It doesn’t matter how other officers behave. The political landscape doesn’t matter. What matters is this man was simply doing his job and now his life is over.

Had it been a DOT worker or a civilian you bet your sweet toosh that people would be roasting the character and life of the reckless driver responsible over a open flame. But…but….but… Because its an officer…well then thats ok??? Aslan, you and your weak minded ilk need to step back and take stock of yourself, you pathetic, hypocritical, bigot. Because from where I stand, your really are no different than those you accuse.

No, they aren’t, certainly not sufficiently. Furthermore, it is just as illegal for them to do it as it is for you or me. No emergency and no lights means they are held to the same traffic laws as everyone else, and they regularly speed, tailgate, and zip through traffic aggressively. I spend hundreds of miles a week on MA highways, they drive far too recklessly and it is illegal and unacceptable from people whom are supposed to be community role models.
