You might not be aware of this, but Worcester has a semi-pro football and they’re pretty damn good too. Mass Fury is Worcester’s hidden gem that no one’s talking about. Ya see, the Telegram and Gazette for whatever reason has elected to ignore this team in spite of the fact that football is the greatest sport ever invented.
That’s where we come in at Turtleboy Sports. We’re the official superfan and we’ll be covering this team as they defend their Eastern Football League Championship from 2014.
Almost every player on the roster has played some level of college football, ranging anywhere from Division 3 to Division 1. We got players who have donned the pads for Hofstra, North Dakota, Northeastern, Holy Cross, Southern Maine, other semi-pro leagues, and even made NFL rosters.
If you ever followed high school sports around the state you’ll also see a lot of names that will make you say, “Oh yea, I remember that guy.” Gridiron legends from South High, Marlboro, Fitchburg, Leominster, Shepherd Hill, St. John’s, Doherty, Uxbridge, Northbridge, Auburn, Leicester, Shrewsbury, and many other schools will make you nostalgic for the good ol’ days when the world revolved Friday night lights.
Look, there IS such a thing as a bad brand of football. The NFL continues to improve as a product as it has evolved more and more into a passing league. Because no one wants to watch a handful of sweep rights and fullback dives. Luckily for you, Mass Fury is a passing machine.
The quarterback is a kid named Corey Spencer, who basically obliterated every passing record at Worcester State before graduating from there in 2013. Check out what we’re dealing with here:
The Arlington Catholic grad reminds me of Drew Brees. Not necessarily the prototype for QB size, but threads the needle as good as anyone. If that doesn’t get you fired up for football then I don’t know what will.
They couldn’t be playing at a better time of year either. The summer lull is coming up. The Red Sox suck again. The Patriots won’t be playing until September. There isn’t a better warm up for NFL season for football fans than going and watching Mass Fury games at Worcester State University.
As the official fanboy of the Mass Fury, Turtleboy highly encourages you to check out some of the home games this season at Worcester State. The first is on July 11. (Here is a link to the complete schedule). Whether you’re a diehard football fan looking to see some quality action or a parent of a young football fan looking for something family oriented to do in Worcester, the Mass Fury are EXACTLY what you are looking for. Your kids will get restless in the summer. Bring them to a place where they can hang out with friends, watch football, move around, and enjoy being a kid.
We’re also going to be running ticket packages for youth organizations. So if you run a summer camp, a youth football or Pop Warner team, a Little League team, a church group, or any other gaggle of fun loving children, email us at turtleboysports@gmail.com or message us on Facebook to discuss ticket packages we can offer your group. We also do birthday packages and kid-oriented halftime events.
Kids are restless in the summer and quite franly there isn’t much for them to do. Why wouldn’t you bring them to a fun night out at Worcester State for some summer fun?

Hofstra University? Northeastern? That’s the caliber of the player your touting in this league? Aging players from historically weak football programs. Yawn!
Hofstra University dropped its entire football program 6 years ago, which shows that at least they have the wisdom to understand how truly unimportant football is in the scheme of life in the real world, and that those millions of dollars were much better spent on scholarships and other academic investments. As a matter of fact, Northeastern wisely made exactly the same decision in 2009.
Love all the ‘disagrees’. The Google is your friend, Turtlebots. You can actually learn for yourself that both of those universities eliminated their football programs because they realized what a waste of money the whole thing was. Southern Maine University also appears to have eliminated their football program. TB and the Turtlefossils appear to be lagging behind the rest of the civilized world. Or is that redundant?
Why do you comment on every article trying to stir the pot you troll? You must be the most progressive scumbag to ever walk this Earth. Football is good. Promoting family events is great. Helping out a local team is also good. You’re probably just mad because you couldn’t even get on the team at Anna Maria College who perennially puts one of Division III’s worst football teams on the field. Take your stupidity back to Clive McFarlane Town, USA.
“*Grunt* Football good. Me eat raw meat, rape many woo-mans, bash heads. *Grunt* Me real man.” ROFLMAO
I do prefer hockey myself. Obvious, I know.
Corey was a freshman when i was a senior at Curry College and then he transferred…he is the real deal and a lot of fun to watch!
