Yesterday Howie Carr announced that the judge who let the Weymouth cop killer out on just $500 bail after being arrested for selling cocaine to children and assaulting a police officer, was Jeanmarie Carroll:

Her face should be everywhere. She should no longer be employed as a judge. In what other line of work do you have this sort of job security. She literally got two people killed because her judgement is so bad. If you have shitty judgement, then you should not work as a judge. It’s really pretty simple. If a police officer fucked up on the job and killed an innocent person in an unjustified shooting, they’d be looking at jail time, and would certainly not be a police officer anymore. These people are highly compensated for a reason – because they are held to a higher standard. At least they should be. Clearly that is not the case as judges NEVER lose their jobs in this state.

Jeanmarie Carroll was appointed to the bench in 2014:

A well-respected prosecutor who has worked under four district attorneys in Norfolk County is headed behind the bench at Quincy District Court. Jeanmarie Carroll, the first woman to serve as first assistant district attorney in Norfolk County, was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the Governor’s Council on Wednesday to become an associate justice in the Quincy court. Carroll was nominated for the job by Gov. Deval Patrick last month. Carroll, a resident of Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, applied to become a district court judge twice before but was not picked. She told the Governor’s Council last week that she was still excited by the prospect of serving behind the bench.

“I’m not done yet,” she said. “I believe in public service. I believe in giving back.”

Why does it matter that she’s the first woman to serve as first ADA in Norfolk County? It’s meaningless feel good garbage like that which brings us judges like this. The Governor’s Council and Deval Patrick patted themselves on the back for crossing yet another identity politics barrier. It gave them the feelz to know they were making a difference in their own diluted minds.

As a former prosecutor you would think that she would actually want to hold the criminals accountable. But as we’ve seen with Worcester County DA Joe Early, these prosecutors, who should be advocating for the safety of the citizens, often view themselves as activists. That’s why she lowered maggot’s bail from $5,000 to just $500, despite selling drugs to children in October and assaulting a cop:

If you don’t take drug dealing to kids seriously, then why are you a judge? Because $500 bail is a joke. Clearly this waste of space would reoffend the second he got out.

The conditions of his release were that he remain drug and alcohol free. Naturally he missed a random drug screening in February, which was FIVE MONTHS AGO, and somehow was not immediately put back in jail after that. What am I missing here? I was under the impression that if you violate the terms of your release, then you go back to jail. If you don’t, then what’s the point of having terms of release?

Ironically Carroll was critical of Middlesex County hack DA Marian Ryan’s office for releasing violent offender Jared Remy:

Carroll, a Norfolk County first assistant district attorney at the time, was previously assigned to work with Secretary of Public Safety Kevin M. Burke on an independent review of Remy’s controversial release before he stabbed his girlfriend Jennifer Martel to death in 2014. They concluded that the Middlesex DA’s office mishandled the case, saying prosecutors did not weigh all of the risks.

So she knew full well the dangers involved in letting people like this remain free. Yet she did it anyway. Because the problem is that judges like this see themselves as saviors. They live in a fantasy world where giving these maggots second and third and fourth chances will help them become law abiding citizens. And then one day, twenty years from now, they’ll get a thank you letter from the convicts, thanking them for giving them the opportunity to make something of themselves.

But that’s not reality. Sure, it might make a good Lifetime movie, but the vast, vast majority of these people are criminals by nature. Hurting other people is the only thing they know how to do. And they’re very good at putting on a show for the judge. They wear their dress up Jordan’s and a polo shirt, they say “yes, your honor,” and their taxpayer funded lawyers tell the judge that they were just about to turn their life around and open up their own barber shop. The gullible judges, who live far, far away from this criminal element and thus don’t understand how they operate, naively fall for their charming act, and let them go free. Then innocent people die. It needs to end.

Then there was this case from Attleboro last year:

The city man accused of assaulting a police officer and commandeering his cruiser until they crashed into a utility pole during a struggle will be able to go free if he can make bail. After a dangerousness hearing Friday in Attleboro District Court, Judge Jeanmarie Carroll ruled that 20-year-old Cristofer Veloz was not a danger. The judge said her decision, however, did “not minimize how serious this incident is” or the impact it had on the officers injured or on the civilians involved.

Yup. This woman has a habit of letting people off easy who assault the police. Somehow she ruled that he was “not a danger” because he had some people write nice letters vouching for him. Yet in the next breath she says that it’s still a serious incident, which it was, since the cop was severely injured. Makes sense.

It needs to end folks. We don’t elect judges directly in this state, but we do elect them indirectly. There are three ways a judge can be removed in Massachusetts. Here are two of them:

  • The governor, with consent of the governor’s council, may remove judges upon the joint address of both houses of the general court. The governor, with consent of the governor’s council, may also retire judges because of advanced age or mental or physical disability.

  • Judges may be impeached by the house of representatives and convicted by the senate.

The latter will never happen, because the State Legislature is filled with assholes like Michelle Dubois and Jamie Eldridge, who favor weaker penalties for criminals. Don’t even get me started on them.

But the former can happen. We have a governor who claims he supports the police and wants law and order. Charlie Baker has the power to remove any judge he wants if the governor’s council gives him the green light. There are 8 members of the Governor’s Council, and they are directly elected by the people. We highly suggest you find out which one represents your district, write them a respectfully but strongly worded email, and CC the rest of the council:

We can bitch about it, or we can take action. I for one am sick of seeing cops and innocent people getting killed because of the incompetence of these overpaid hack judges, and I’m writing my email right now.

This judge got me evicted from housing with 3 kids, one with disability, cerebral palsy, no compassion. I went back and won, with a different judge, thank God. But reading this I guess she does have lots of empathy for criminals.

The problem is that people judge things off emotion and when your emotions are high your logic is low. I am sure this judge feels awful right now. She obviously didn’t know this murderer was going to do what he did. People are to quick to judge others and it easy to do. .And most of the people don’t know the facts behind his release. All they see is that this guy killed a cop and an innocent person. As awful as it is,she didn’t see this was going to happen, but it did. Judges I am sure have to go thru a crucial background before becoming one and of course they are held to higher standard’s but this is not her fault. It’s the system. The same system that found o.j. Simpson innocent and Casey Anthony innocent. Don’t be so quick to blame the judge because of this awful occurrence. We as a whole have to be better. It’s easy to judge others but most people just point fingers instead of taking action. She has to live with this decision the rest of her life. I think you learn from it and do better and be better. Until we fix ourselves we can’t fix the system.

Is $500 bail out of line for a low level drug charge? If it had been $5000 and he posted bail, he’d be out anyway. Bail is a way to enforce the guy’s return to stand trial, not an excuse to imprison someone without conviction.

If you assume that any judge really has an “opinion” you are severely misled. DA’s even like to think they have one, but in reality they are so easily swayed by popular expectations, politicians (one in the same… I know) and their own convoluted agenda. If you have something they want, it’s like a fucking movie, just help these assholes make it and you’ll be just fine.

First, you are not providing all of the information. Judges do not release felons without a good reason. What did the defense attorney present as evidence? What about the prosecution? What laws were cited to support the judge’s ruling?

See? You are running with minimal information and painting a very myopic picture. And worse, you are trying to use your journalism as a bully pulpit to ruin the life of a judge who, most likely, is innocent of everything you are accusing her of.

Second, you stated that if a cop killed an innocent person that cop would go to jail and lose their job. However, that rarely happens when cops shoot unarmed citizens. Sorry, but this is a fact.

It is tragic what happened to officer Chesna and my heart goes out to his family. However, that doesn’t give you the right to incite people with a mob mentality and abuse your position as a journalist.

Pretending to be about “facts” while yourself giving absolutely none is at best laughable. Your ability to make assumptions while chastising Turtle boy for what in your opinion is, that he is doing ti is also noteworthy. You clearly have no knowledge of how the courts in Massachusetts are run as you pretended to represent as fact that the judges “judges do not release felons without a good reason” is all anyone who actually works around the courts knows is an absolutely absurd statement, and violent and destructive felons are routinely allowed onto the streets when they should be in custody.

Also, your statement about police killing innocent people and routinely getting away with it is absolutely and monstrously false. You conflate justified shootings with unjustified shootings and make them one in the same. The actual facts behind police shootings is that it is rare that an officer actually shoots someone and that the officer’s actions were unreasonable when the totality of the incident are taken into account. On top of it, those killed by police who are considered “unarmed” include those who are trying to run a cop over, take the officer’s firearms, beaten the officer to the point of great bodily harm and or unconsciousness, holding a replica firearm and or representing themselves as themselves as being armed. The lies of the anti cop crowd are very effective in confusing the easily confused in this country.

That’s like department of children an families . If a child dies or gets badly injured under the eyes of DCF that social worker an Supervisor & volunteer that sits in on the case Should ALL get charged with the same crime as the parent . This state sucks !! An it’s the higher up that’s bringing us down by not holding parents & criminals accountable for their actions .

Just lock up everyone who’s arrested and keep them in jail until they plead guilty.

Oh, and possession of a rock is now a capital offense, with the JBTs being judge, jury, and executioner.

    Anything else?

The judges in this state do not care about public safety. They forget to rule on law and instead rule with political correctness in mind.

Conditions of Release are a JOKE. Judges and DA’s rarely do anything went they violate their conditions. They are a waste of time and judges wag their finger at defendants like they really give shit about what they are saying because they wear abblack robe.

Most (not all) judges in Massachusetts are a joke. Liberal America at its best. Don’t believe me? Pick any court in the commonwealth and you will see it firsthand!!!!

Judges and DA’s dump cases on probation and play Monday morning quarterback when something goes wrong. Pathetic

This situation of bad, dirty judges in massachusetts just keeps worse. Each incident that occurs or gets exposed is like another layer of an onion getting peeled. Eventually we will get to the core.

Call me stupid but I have never heard of a governors council before, or maybe I have and just never had any reason to pay attention to it. It seems like each member of this council has a private job. Some lawyers are in there as well as another with the last name of a well known oil & energy company with the green and yellow trucks. I wonder what type of special treatment these people and their company’s receive?

I like the movies where the ex convict with a heart of gold is relentlessly harassed by the evil PO always threatening that if they don’t get a 40 hour job or fail this or that they’re instantly back in the can. So idiot doesn’t even bother to show up for a drug test and where’s the PO. Like Chet Baker’s PO that made him flee to Europe? Oh where art thou PO?

    • Happens EVERY day
      July 17, 2018 at 5:46 pm

Not true. PO’s are constantly informing the DA and judges of alleged violations. If you know anything about court/law then you would know that Pre trial probation cases are still the responsibility of the DA’s office when a violation is brought to their attention. General public hears pre trial PROBATION and assume he is on probation. Not entirely the case.

Zero chance Charlie Baker will remove Judge Carroll. Same chance of AG Maura “SJW” Healey pursuing real corruption like the MSP in this state, zero. Great article TBS and all true, but this is Massachusetts the most expensive and corrupt Democrat run shithole in the country.

Judge Feeley, remember him? Same incompetent “progressive liberal” hack who let an illegal alien heroin dealer free because “it was an economic crime”. Feeley actually came out and said he didn’t want him jailed because he may get deported. If it was a US citizen, Feeley said he would have certainly given him jail time. Let that sink in for a minute, wtf just happened there. Judge Feeley is also responsible for freeing a criminal that would go on to murder a Sherrif in Maine. Judge Feeley also has the honor of freeing a multi count convicted sex offender. Disgusting, evil, psychotic criminals let go time and time again. Isn’t this accessory to murder and rape?

Officer Tarantino, Officer Sean Gannon, and now Officer Michael Chesna. All brave and honorable men serving and protecting the public and are the victims of a liberal judicial system. God Bless the officers and their families and may we one day see true justice in this State.

There is a local town page that is discussing the shooting and Judge Carroll. One of Judge Carroll’s defenders is Bethany Gecewicz. Bethany is known to TB from a previous story in which she defended a mother who left her children alone and hungry. Wonder many recurring no infos are out there? Anyway, Bethany defends Linda Sansour but has no problem with Judge Carroll. She is way beyond just needing a dope slap.
