Hey fam – if you’d like to support Turtleboy and what we do here, feel free to hit the donate button at the top. We basically have to run this site like a Bernie Sanders campaign now since we’ve been blacklisted by Google and Facebook, due to the fact that rabid SJWs keep reporting our posts. Getting blacklisted by Google is a death sentence for most websites, since it’s much harder to monetize. And we all know the damage Facebook has done. We’re never going to stop fighting for free speech, but in the meantime the best way for turtle riders to fight back is to donate to the cause. Without you people none of this is possible. We love you all.

There is a difference between fake news and satire. Sadly today we found out that most people do not seem to understand this concept. It all began when a satirical Facebook page called New Hampshire News Network posted this BOMBSHELL announcing that Story Land was closing….

The page only has 8,000 followers, but this particular post has over 10,000 shares and 3,500 comments and counting. Pretty much everyone believed it….

This prompted the real Story Land to issue a release on Facebook informing people that they were not actually closing….

Because….obviously.

Sure, these people could’ve easily just Googled it and saw that no other media outlet was reporting it. Or better yet, they could’ve looked back on some of their previous posts and used their powers of inference to figure out that this was a satirical Facebook page…

Imagine being so stupid that you blocked a satirical page because you were too dumb to figure out that a satirical post about Trump liking the page triggered you that much?

Newsflash – Trump isn’t really moving the U.S. Embassy to Hampton Beach. Largely because we put U.S. embassies in other countries, not the United States. And believe it or not, despite the debauchery that is Hampton Beach, it is still part of the USA.

You gotta see their reviews to realize just how stupid people on the Internet can be….

Oh. My. God. Please, don’t tell them. I wanna see how long this can go on for.

“At least make your FB title comical so people know it’s fake.”

Yea, it’s up to them to accommodate your stupidity. Or you could just, I dunno, look at other posts like this:

And realize that this is an obviously satirical page.

Lea here thought it was rather pathetic of them, and took issue with the watermarks on the image…

Girl, you’re rocking the dog filter. Class dismissed.

But just for the record, the whole point of a satire page is to gain followers by posting news that is not real news, but which the average reader with a 3rd grade education should be able to discern is not in fact real news.

Mark was PISSED…

Yea guys, you look like idiots for posting FAKE ASS NEWS!!! Not Mark though. The joke is totally NOT on him, and did not go way, way, way over his head.

Then there was this….

Satire site with fake or inaccurate information?

That’s like saying, “Strip clubs full of dancing junkboxes with daddy issues.” You literally just defined what satire is.

Evidently some people disagreed that it was satire…

“This page should be taken down. It’s idiotic posts are not satire or funny they are straight lies and fake new(s) made to deceive people.”

“To anyone calling this satire, you need to look up the definition of satire.”

OK:

“the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.”

Ya see, it’s not really a complete lie. The post says they’r set to close down for the fall.

Which they are. Because that’s what theme parks do when it gets cold outside. They close down. Then they open up again when it’s nice outside. And of course they do this to expose and criticize people’s stupidity. That’s you. You’re the stupid people they’re exposing through the use of exaggeration.

It’s just so amazing to watch.

Here’s how this relates to bigger issues though. They keep telling us that Russians influenced the election by spreading fake news on Facebook. People believed the lies and voted for Trump as a result. But even if that’s true, who cares? Don’t people have a right to be stupid, just like all of these people? Isn’t the larger issue really that the American people by and large are very, very stupid? That they can be easily manipulated by fake news, rather than investigate the facts on their own. Why is the government and Facebook trying to protect stupid people from their own stupidity?

Of course the people who run Facebook are quite stupid themselves. That’s why they’re constantly shutting down satire pages like the Babylon Bee:

“There’s a difference between false news and satire,” the social network said in a statement to DCNF. “This was a mistake and should not have been rated false in our system. It’s since been corrected and won’t count against the domain in any way.”

It’s almost as if human beings don’t actual review reported content, and instead allow mobs of idiots to mass report anything they don’t like as fake news, leading to business pages being shut down. I totally cannot relate to this.

The bottom line is that part of living in a free society means people are allowed to be stupid and gullible, and other people are allowed to spread both satire AND fake news. If you need Facebook to protect you from your own stupidity, you should probably just kill yourself. You won’t be missed. Have a nice day!

It’s like your version of Southend News Network. However, I think the British have a stronger satire radar. It fools some people sometimes, but doesn’t get complaints like that.

Stupid people must not know The Onion who has been doing this for years and years – long, long before the term “fake news” got popular.

Sat-tyre. Did anyone else notice the overall gender make up of most of the individuals who didn’t get the joke? Neither did I.
