MSP And Barre Police Had To Find Another Armed And Dangerous Stetson School Student Who Escaped Last Night, Seven Hills Foundation Continues To Do Nothing

A couple weeks ago I published a blog about the out of control students who attend the Stetson School in Barre. This is a boarding school near the center of town that warehouses extremely troubled and dangerous students. Stetson is owned by the Seven Hills Foundation, which takes in over $60 million a year in grant money. Yet they seemingly invest nothing in security, despite the dangerous population they serve. Consequently the Barre Police are frequently on the lookout for dangerous students, many of who are armed. And to the surprise of no one it happened again last night.

Armed and dangerous with a knife at 10 PM. There were state police helicopters overhead, waking people up who had to get to work the next day. All this time, money, and resources that the taxpayers are fitting the bill for because a multi million dollar, for-profit mega-charity doesn’t feel like investing in security. There are so many simple solutions to this – hire more people, ankle bracelets, corporal punishment, solitary confinement, barbed wire fencing. Something. Anything is better than what they’re doing nothing, which apparently is nothing.

We called the Stetson School today for comment and they took down our information which they said they were passing onto their corporate offices, AKA the Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester. I’m not holding my breath. It looks like Seven Hills is prioritizing vaping prevention over the safety of the citizens of Barre.

This is the VP of the Stetson School, Joseph Allred.

He likely makes an extremely high salary, but yet he claims that all is well at Stetson:

“Stetson is not a locked facility,” Mr. Allred said. “We have strategic cameras on campus and protocols in place for training our staff. We are a therapeutic school for children. There’s a misconception that we house a bunch of delinquent children and that’s simply incorrect.”

A misconception that you have delinquent children? They’re escaping form campus with weapons and stealing people’s cars.

I wonder where people get the idea that they’re delinquents. They also tie up police resources with prank calls:

At the Monday meeting, Kathleen Howard, a former Barre dispatcher, told the board of an instance Nov. 25 where there had been nine 911 hang-up calls made from the school to the regional dispatch center over a period of three hours.

But everything is fine, and Mr. Allred can’t believe that the people in Barre have an issue with his school.

Mr. Allred said he had viewed the video recording of the meeting and was dismayed by the comments from board members, believing there is a proven record of collaboration with the Police Department and other town boards and organizations.

Because he already bribed the town with free land for a police station a few years ago.

With respect to the school’s financial contribution to the community, Mr. Allred said a 30-year PILOT agreement executed July 1, 2015, provided the four acres at no cost on South Street for the Stephen M. Brewer Public Safety Building.

So the townsfolk have given up their right complain about safety.

And to make matters worse, Stetson officials are unwilling to sit down with the public to discuss the danger this is causing to the community because the citizens “view the students as prisoners.”

During its Sept. 3 meeting, the board said Stetson officials have been unwilling to participate in a public board meeting. Instead, it wants to meet on its own terms at the school. On Aug. 29, the school’s lawyer wrote a letter to town counsel stating that the board gave the impression selectmen “view the students as prisoners who must be kept inside the property boundaries at all costs.”

Because they are prisoners. If they were allowed to leave then they wouldn’t be prisoners. The mere fact that their disappearance is problematic proves this point.

The State Police are constantly being called from the Brookfield barracks to go to that school as well, and when they get there they are harassed and taunted by the inmates because the Stetson School has completely lost control of its population.

But all you really need to know is that Bret Killoran used to be an inmate at Stetson. We like Bret now, but as a youth he was the poster boy for juvenile delinquency and a prime candidate to be featured on Turtleboy. According to him the place is a complete zoo with no supervision, and he or may not have boinked his counselor. Knowing Bret I have no doubt in my mind that this is true.

Here’s my question – what are they waiting for? Do they want an innocent person to be killed? Last week it was a kid with an axe, now it’s a knife. They’ve stolen cars too. What happens when they get a gun? What happens if a citizen shoots one of these kids breaking into their house? Is Seven Hills waiting for someone to get killed before doing something? If you’re a citizen of Barre or one of the surrounding towns (or even if you’re just concerned in general) I highly suggest you contact State Senator Anne Gobi or State Rep Donnie Berthiaume to voice your concerns. The Seven Hills Foundation might not work for you, but your elected leaders do.

If not you can just sit back and wait for more of this.

A high fence or wall will do wonders to keep the inmates contained and public safer. Wayward women are as bad as the bad boys.

Happens at Devereuax in Rutland all the time. Town is not going to do aanything because like the Big D in Rutland they likely give a nice voluntary check to the town once a year. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Listen the treatment of the children should come first and foremost. It’s not Seven Hills’ problem to be concerned about the safety of the public! The police are tasked with that mission. The children are of paramount importance to Seven Hills, not some yokels who just whine about armed and dangerous disturbed delinquents posing a threat to their own children. It’s just nimbyism.

The people of Barre and surrounding area should take this up with the politicians who should be (but probably are not) representing them in Boston. If those politicians won’t help, vote them out of office the first chance you get.

I will be emailing the 2 names on the list. I may live in Worcester but 4 of my 6 grandchildren live and go to school in Barre. My daughter sometimes works nights and this is one scary school to keep reading about. The man in charge of it all is making a pretty penny so maybe he should go stay at the school of a couple of days and check things out…then get security on the premises!

Nothing will change. The place won’t be shut down. Administration, management are not educated. Everyone is sleeping with everyone there. Clinical team ignoring documents to be sent to probation and to the court. Staff sleeping on the job. Staff playing video games with the kids not doing their jobs. Staff giving the kids drugs, cell phones, then when when people report it you get written up. The place is one big joke that the town is expected to keep paying for.

“Staff giving the kids drugs, cell phones…”

Apparently they hand the “youths” weapons on their way out the door, too, because most of the MIA reports TB has posted involved a weapon.

Why in the name of all things sacred do we keep wasting time, money, and other resources on delinquent dickheads who clearly don’t want to change? “Thug Life” is a real thing, and the lure of having “street cred” and “hood cred” is too strong for these future 25-to-lifers to resist. Are we so arrogant and delusional to honestly believe that they can be reached and saved? They can’t. There are just some people who are destined to be career shitbags and prisoners. Fuck em. Cut bait and fish in the pond the yields positive results.

Stop funding these rehabilitation camps and “alternative learning” schools, and put that money back into regular high schools, or vocational/technical high schools. These for-profit charter schools and veritable pre-prison lock ups are bullshit. The kids who want to learn should be the primary focus of our tax dollars; not the delinquents who refuse to stay in line.

Just looking at the guy, you can tell he is a putz. He is simply bluffing his way through, telling the people what they want to hear using all the catchphrases to go along with it. He will recommend a “head of security” position at 80 k a year while boosting his iwn salary another 50 to 60k a year. And the parents and Grant bodies will suck it up.

I used to work at a school like this, but it was shut down a few months ago (I left before it was closed). Basically, there’s no way to win here. The students knew there were no real consequences for their actions, and it wasn’t uncommon for them to run away, binge on drugs for a few days, prostitute themselves and then come back to the school where they’d be given no real punishment.

The education staff was great, but the residential staff in charge of the students outside of school hours was comprised of kids just out of college who weren’t prepared to deal with the types of issues the students had. The turnover was high, so the school was constantly understaffed, which made it hard to teach the kids and control them.

One of the funniest things about this was the students thought they were little lawyers. It’s great that they knew their rights, but they were threatening to file 51As because we wouldn’t get them orange juice.

“There’s a misconception that we house a bunch of delinquent children and that’s simply incorrect.” No. A misconception is an egg denying a sperm’s entry. The only reason they’re there is BECAUSE they’re delinquents. Yes, SS, you’re right, absolutely nothing will be done until someone ends up dead… preferably an inmate. But heaven forbid a Barre resident accosted by an escapee successfully defend themselves; imagine THEIR legal nightmare.

The majority of Stetson boys are there for “non-violent” reasons. Like molesting their little sister.

      TRUE STORY.

It is mostly kids who have committed a sexual crime such as that, or who have been molested themselves.

Seven Hills takes money from the feds/state for many of it’s residential housing units. The residents or guardians of the residents often pay a portion of their disability checks to live in the units, as opposed to living in a nursing home. They pool the funds together, as well as any MassHealth money they may get for PCA care & such.
Seven Hills hires whomever they can. Nobody with an education wants to wipe shit off handicapped asses all day. They pay low wages and get the kind of people you don’t want talking care of a relative. Many of the residents are non-verbal, so unable to complain if they wanted to about the care, or lack there of, they receive.
I’d say 40% of the Seven Hills employees that are in charge of caring for these people are immigrants from African countries. The other 60% are dropouts, “alternative” school graduates, or GED candidates.
Many of the homes have situations where the residents sleep at night, so the staff often does too.
And yes, there are situations at Stetson that has girl “counselors” in charge of the boys. Because the people Seven Hills employs often lack education, self-esteem, and the ability to determine right from wrong, I’m willing to bet that more than once a Stetson resident has “boinked his counselor.”

Bret… you’d know more about Stetson than I would.
The “nonverbal” folks are in Seven Hills residential homes around Massachusetts.
I was told that Stetson houses sexual offenders. If I’m wrong, correct me.

If u misunderstood your separation of Stetson and 7H then that’s 100% my bad foo.
I’m saying Stetson wasn’t that, when I was there in the 80s.
The 7h houses are beyond my expertise, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Side note.. I’m so proud of myself right now

And yes, as far as I know, in the 80s when I was there it was all lunatics and criminals, but no sex offenders. I came from Worcester Secure to Stetson…
          At 14yrs old.
If you don’t know what that facility was/is. Look it up. I was a bad kid, but those kids weren’t around us at Stetson. For all its faults, it wasn’t that.
          Trust me, or not.
          Just my experience
          Cheers

I’m sure there’s more than Grant Money supporting this place. I bet a little digging would find taxpayer money involved. These places can pop up anywhere seeming withnimpuniyu. They buy housed in neighborhoods and call them “Residential units” putting people in can get everywhere they go.They need incident monitoring. After X amount of incidents, school closed until remedies are in place
