Sixteen-year-old Bridgewater resident Shaina Hauter has gone missing again for the second time in less than a month and the third time this year according to the website missingkids.com.  Our previous story on Shaina stirred up a brouhaha of controversy with friends lining up to support her, others determining she was selfish, some family members claiming she was spoiled, and several people describing that her troubled childhood was the result of abusive foster parents.  After writing the story, my inbox was flooded with a mix of death threats, praise, hatred, profanity, congratulatory remarks, and fascinating sexual comments regarding my mother.  You know, just another day of working here at TBS.

However, the allegations of abuse did lead me to sympathize with young Shaina, so I issued an apology that was somewhat well-received.  With her junior year of high school approaching, I really hoped that was the last time we would ever hear Shaina’s name in the news. But not even three weeks later, she has unfortunately run away from home again.

Shaina’s aunt, crazy Annie, has linked Shaina’s recent runaway to her relationship with 22-year-old Shawn Raymond. Raymond, who has been arrested multiple times for offenses linked to drug-dealing, was also the victim of a bizarre armed robbery last summer. Eight suspects broke into Raymond’s house armed with guns, and other weapons.  When police arrived, Raymond confessed that he thought they were after his “sneaker collection”. Very interesting! That would probably be the first time on earth, 8 armed robbers broke into a house looking for some Nikes.

However, the truth is, we can’t say for sure where Shaina really is.  Again, she has gone missing and it would be ignorant to speculate on exactly what is going on when we don’t have all the facts.  We at turtleboy hope that the troubled teen is safe and someday she can find peace.
