We’re going to keep sharing these horror stories about the dogs from Laughlin Kennels until the state or town decides to finally do something about it:

On Saturday, January 23, my son bought a beautiful golden retriever, his first puppy. His spent $1800 on the puppy and all the supplies needed. “Phin” started becoming sick soon after. The seller didn’t want him to see a vet but wanted to take care of the puppy themselves but my son was not comfortable with that. By Wednesday Phin was taken to a vet who tested her but had no answers for him. On Thursday she was foaming at the mouth, couldn’t control her functions, and couldn’t walk. He immediately brought her to Tufts. Phin was diagnosed with a disease that is airborne contagious (Parvovirus). After spending 3 days in isolation with deteriorating health, they had to make the decision to have her put to sleep. By this point she was brain dead. He had Phin for 8 days…half of which she spent in Tufts. Then he had to disinfect his house for the safety of his cat. She has been vaccinated for this so she’s okay. Phin was purchased at Laughlin Kennels in Oxford. They did refund the $1800 he spent on Phin and supplies but not the medical bills, or pain and suffering for his fiancé, his puppy, and himself. Another sad story that should never happen.

Hate to say it but I’m almost becoming immune to this. It’s the same old story with these crooks. They sell you a puppy, then the puppy gets sick and they tell you to bring it back to them where they’ll take them behind closed doors and have their pre-approved “vet” look at the dog. If you don’t, and the dog is on some sort of life support closer to your home, then they don’t refund you your money. If you do and the dog dies they still won’t pay for your medical bills. Never mind the fact that you got attached to a dog and had to watch the dog slowly die because it got sick during the 1,500 mile journey in the back of the van from Missouri.

Like I said, we’re just gonna keep sharing these stories until this place is shut down. Then we’ll add their ass to the Turtleboy graveyard. Plenty of burial plots still available. In the meantime how bout people stop buying dogs from this place? That might be a good start.

Didn’t one of the Boston news outlets do an in depth story not to long ago? I think it was Fox. That was last summer I think. I remember the story because I’ve always had dogs, cats sometimes both at the same time, a rabbit, a hamster and a giant fish tank going back since I was a little kid.

Look at me now I’m a grown up Tasmanian Devil!…

Seriously this place needs to cease and desist.

You’d hope people who’s line of work involved taking care of animals would actually do so. I mean what kind of heartless person just covers the shit up and doesn’t realize or care more animals are sick than not? Plus they make buku bucks so there’s no excuse why these pups aren’t treated like the fluffy kings they are. Shut it down. Adopt

you’d save yourself a lot of money by adopting a rescued orphaned pup from an animal shelter that is fully licensed and no-kill.

Turtle Educator: I can’t thumbs up your remark enough! I did it once, and it won’t let me thumbs-up you again.

Your way is the way to go…I’ve gotten all my animals from shelters WARL and Sterling. They lived a long time and had full and happy lives. They did not get sick. We brought them to the vet yearly and had them vaccinated for this. Once the virus is in the dog, you can’t do much to help it. Get a dog from a shelter, they will be healthy. And they are looking for homes. It breaks my heart that I can’t take all of them home!

$1800 is ridiculous money to spend on a dog. I think it’s $150 at the shelters. And they are good and healthy. And the cats too.

I think people should look at all options instead of just plunking down money.

“On Saturday, January 23, my son bought a beautiful golden retriever, his first puppy. His spent $1800 on the puppy and all the supplies needed. ”

WHO spends $1800 on a dog and supplies?

Car dealerships everywhere are praying that these dog buyers stop by their lots soon… “I always wanted a car – that one is cute – where do I sign?”

Here’s the thing about that Parvovirus, it’s the most contagious and deadliest illness a Dog can have. The survival rate is pretty much zero. So when I read that these poor folks keep coming come with sick dogs who eventually die, it tells me EVERY FUCKING DOG in the kennel is sick. My buddy bought a dog from a kennel not too long ago and it became deathly ill the very next day they brought it home. The animal hospital wouldn’t even let them bring the dog inside initially because it’s that dangerous. They were made to wear hazmat suits and the dog was kept in quarantine, hooked up to a breathing machine for 8 days. Turtleboy, if you do just one noble deed for the rest of your days, put all your resources into shutting this place down.

Shut it down…but maybe people need to take some responsibility and RESEARCH and ask questions before buying.
