Patriots’ Aaron Dobson Didn’t Play Monday Night Vs. Chiefs Because Josh McDaniels Can’t Get Along With Any Players

Some stooge from NESN wrote this steamy expose today on Patriots WR Aaron Dobson:

Aaron Dobson’s absence from Week 3 and 4 reportedly has more to do with insubordination than talent. Dobson was benched in Weeks 3 and 4 because he mouthed off to New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, a league source told The Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young. Dobson and McDaniels had “at least one loud disagreement,” according to Young’s source.

Young also reports that Dobson has maturity concerns. Dobson missed most of training camp after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot over the offseason. He was active in Week 2 and caught one pass for 13 yards on two targets. Dobson showed potential late last season before injuring his foot in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos.

His best game came in Week 9 against the Pittsbugh Steelers when he had five receptions on nine targets for 130 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots deactivated Dobson and fellow second-year pro Kenbrell Thompkins in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving just three wide receivers for quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots subsequently lost 41-14 as their offense continued to struggle.

The Patriots, who have had issues drafting wide receivers in the past, selected Dobson No. 59 overall in the 2013 NFL draft. If the report is true, the Patriots can’t be blamed for sitting a young player for showing a lack of respect to his coaching staff. Dobson was battling Thompkins and veteran Brandon LaFell for the starting “X” receiver position over the summer. Thus far, LaFell has won that battle.

Ya see that right there? That is why the Patriots suck. They’re OBSESSED with this Patriot way. Patriots coaches are all geniuses and they can do no wrong. Sure Josh McDaniels play calls this year have been a gigantic abortion. But Aaron Dobson best not get lippy with him because he’s a God damn Belichick prodigy!!

Newsflash – every single Belichick prodigy has been an unmitigated disaster in the NFL. McDaniels, Eric Mangina, Matt Patricia. These guys all suck. It’s like Bill Belichick has started a charity for at risk coaches that no one else wants. He’ll literally take any idiot with a chin strap who wears their hat backwards and make them an assistant coach.

None of these guys could coach themselves out of a paper bag. Belichick has them on his staff because he’s obsessed with stroking his ego. He doesn’t need a Rob Ryan or a Charlie Weis. Those guys actually know what that the fuck they’re doing and they might actually talk back to him. No, the Belichick school of geniuses is a level above those guys. Bill can literally take any schmuck off the street and turn them into the next Belichick.

And guess what? This is McDaniels’ M.O. Here are some of my favorite Josh McDaniels fast facts from Joshmcdanielssucks.com:

  • Despite inheriting a team ranked 2nd in the NFL in total offense in 2008, McDaniels fires all of Denver’s offensive assistant coaches except running backs coach, Bobby Turner, and offensive line coach, Rick Dennison. McDaniels’ decision to fire quarterbacks coach, Jeremy Bates, particularly irks quarterback Jay Cutler who had passed for 4,526 yards and 25 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl with Bates as his position coach in 2008.
  • McDaniels attempts to trade Jay Cutler and acquire New England quarterback, Matt Cassel, in 3 team deal that would have sent Cutler to Tampa Bay. McDaniels fails to complete the trade and Cassel is traded to AFC West rival, Kansas City. Cutler says he is not bothered by the trade proposal itself but by how he felt McDaniels misled him. McDaniels responded by offering that the Broncos merely listened to offers submitted from other teams, as they do for all players, but Cutler’s camp never buys such explanation.
  • As free agency begins, the Denver Broncos sign veteran New England long snapper, Lonie Paxton, to a 5 year, $5.5M contract that includes a $1M signing bonus. The deal makes Paxton the 2nd highest paid long snapper in the NFL, slightly behind Cleveland’s Ryan Pontbriand, and results in the release of Broncos long snapper Mike Leach. Leach, who spent 7 seasons in Denver, was extremely popular with teammates and his release is harshly criticized by widely respected wide receiver Brandon Stokley.
  • McDaniels continues to add former Patriots as the Broncos ink free agent wide receiver Jabar Gaffney. Prior to the start of the regular season, Denver signs or trades for 4 additional former New England players, Brandon Gorin, Russ Hochstein, LaMont Jordan, and LeKevin Smith, bringing the total number of former Patriots added to the Broncos by McDaniels to 6. Of the 6 players, only Jabar Gaffney and Lonie Paxton make worthwile contributions to the team during the 2009 season (Hochstein replaced incumbent Ben Hamilton at left guard in November but his play was less than average).

  • A conference call involving McDaniels, Pat Bowlen, Jay Cutler and Cutler’s agent, Bus Cook, fails to resolve the issues between Cutler and McDaniels. Subsequent to the meeting, Cutler tells ESPN.com ”I went in there with every intention of solving the issue, being a Bronco, moving forward as a Bronco. We weren’t in there but about 20 minutes, [McDaniels] did most of the talking, and as far as I’m concerned, he made it clear he wants his own guy. At the end of the meeting, he wasn’t like, ‘Jay, I want you as our quarterback, you’re our guy.’ It felt like the opposite… really, I figured we’d hash things out, shake hands, laugh a little and move forward. What happened was the last thing I expected.”
  • Rick Reilly of ESPN wonders “how arrogant can Josh McDaniels be?” and proclaims “Broncos fans, you’re screwed!” after McDaniels boasts that his draft board had fewer than 100 names on it despite 256 players being drafted.
  • McDaniels suspends Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall for “conduct detrimental to the team” after video of Marshall loafing it in practice surfaces on the internet.  Marshall wants a new contract though 1 year remains on the term of the agreement he signed prior to his rookie season.
  • Needing a win to remain in control of the AFC wild card race, the Broncos embarrassingly lose 20-19 to Oakland after JaMarcus Russell throws a touchdown pass to Chaz Schilens with 0:45 remaining in the 4th quarter.
  • On the Friday before the team’s must win game to keep its playoff chances alive vs. Kansas City, McDaniels announces that Marshall and Scheffler will be not be active for the game as a result of the players’ poor attitudes. McDaniels is widely criticized for publicly questioning the legitimacy of Marshall’s hamstring injury.
  • McDaniels promotes his younger brother, Ben, to quarterbacks coach. Before being hired by the Broncos last year as an offensive assistant, the 30 year old Ben McDaniels’ coaching experience consisted of 3 years coaching quarterbacks at the high school level in Ohio and 2 years as a graduate assistant at the of Minnesota.

Ya see that? This is who Josh McDaniels is. He is a grown ass man that doesn’t know how to act like a grown ass man. Just look at that track record. In his mind there is no one as smart as him. This is what happens when you grow up coaching with Belichick. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall? Those guys suck. Give me Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow any day of the week.

Seriously though. He called out Brandon fucking Marshall for “faking” a hamstring injury. Think about that for a moment. He has one of the top five receivers in the NFL. Instead of approaching him quietly and keeping his reservations in house he runs and tells Woody Paige at the Denver Post that his best player is faking injury. He has Belichick’s arrogance without any of the common sense and smarts.

This guy didn’t just lose in Denver. He redefined the term “scorched earth.” He didn’t just fail completely as a coach, he burnt that mother to the ground!! Firing defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Trading the franchise players because he couldn’t figure out a way to get along with them. Hiring his idiot brother from a high school team to coach the next generation of Denver quarterbacks.

And why? Because Josh McDaniels has the biggest dick in the room at all times. This is what he does. I have no idea what happened between him and Aaron Dobson, but I guarantee it could’ve been resolved differently. Dobson hasn’t proven shit in the NFL, but he was a second round draft pick and he’s our only WR with any sort of height. Instead Brady was left with Amendildo, Edelman, and Matthew Slater for receivers on Monday Night.

The bottom line is this. When a coach shows a repeated pattern of a complete inability to communicate with the team’s paid personnel, then that coach isn’t meant for the job. Imagine a nurse who can’t get along with the elderly, or a teacher who can’t get along with kids. That’s what McDaniels is. He is the man with the biggest schmenzer in the room at all times and he will not back down from a fight.

Anyway I tweeted my displeasure to Doug Kyed and he basically proved my point for me:

Ya see that right there? That’s why you can’t get your hot takes from the mainstream media. Towing the company line like you read about. Encouraging locker room issues? Why? Because I had the nerve to suggest that McDaniels might be part of the problem? That a man repeatedly bumps heads with and drives out players he doesn’t personally like might be bad for the team?

This is why you read Turtleboy Sports people. Because you’re gonna get stooges like Doug on NESN. You will never, ever get an honest, thoughtful take. You’ll get the company line and cold, frigid takes.

Patriots have the talent. Staff seems retarded this year. Well back to the 90s

Main stream media like this turd are afraid to speak negatively about the Patriots because they fear the Patriots will cut them off from information.
