People Pretending To Be Turtle Riders Sent Threatening Emails To Bridget Phetasy After We Encouraged Our Fans To Reach Out To Her About A Column She’s Writing About Self-Censorship

Bridget Phetasy is a writer who talks about politics but is funny about it. She doesn’t come across as either conservative or liberal, just very common sense. She gives it to both sides pretty equally when it’s deserved.

We need more people like that in the media.

She’s a blue checkmark on the Twitter machine, has almost 90,000 followers, and this week she posted that she was looking to do a story on self-censorship. And that’s great because I wrote a book on that exact topic, so I urged turtle riders to respectfully reach out to her and tell them our story.

And she responded to me and to others that she was interested in hearing more about Turtleboy. A lot of people sent her the Rian Waters story because it shows that we use our platform to expose people who beat women and kill dogs, and people try to silence us because of that. I was excited because I’m a fan of Bridget’s work, and the fact that she was willing to actually write about the biggest threat to free speech that has existed since our country’s creation – self censorship based on fear.

Then Saturday I got this email from her.

Took me two seconds to figure out what happened here. The same people who try to silence us wrote her some emails which were probably filled racism, sexism, threats of violence, etc. They told her they were fans because they’re trying to make Turtleboy look bad, and they don’t want her to include our story in her story. They know that if she wrote a column that was sympathetic towards us and a lot of people read it, then it would be bad for their narrative. This is right out of their playbook. They fill our comments section with racist garbage that people ignore, but they do so because they can contact our advertisers about it like this:

This is what we are up against folks. Guttermuppets we blog about want to silence us. It would be bad for them if we got some positive press from a blue checkmark. They are dedicated to what they do. The mere fact that they went to this length shows you that. And the only way to defeat them is to be as dedicated as they are. So please, if you would like to support us send Bridget Phetasy an email at phetasycomedy@gmail.com. Write it respectfully, and emphasize that Turtleboy is YOUR voice. We say the things that you can’t afford to say because you don’t want to lose your job or get disinvited from social events because your opinions are “hateful” or whatever meaningless label they give it. But we also make the world a better place by exposing people like Rian Waters and the countless others who have been getting away with being human garbage for so long because people are too afraid to call them out on it.

Thanks for supporting what we do. We love you all. Even the losers who try to shut us down.

Hello Turtle Riders. As you know if you follow Turtleboy we are constantly getting censored and banned by Facebook for what are clearly not violations of their terms of service. Twitter has done the same, and trolls mass reported our blog to Google AdSense thousands of times, leading to demonitization. We can get by and survive, but we could really use your help. Please consider donating by hitting the PayPal button above if you’d like support free speech and what we do in the face of Silicon Valley censorship. Or just buy our award winning book about the dangers of censorship and rise of Turtleboy:

Unfortunately, this woman is clearly not as intelligent as I had initially given her credit for. How in God’s name does one assume that people writing anonymously, or sending emails are telling the truth? It’s nice to know she is concerned about self censorship but to assume that “fans” of TB are sending her uncomfortable emails was her first mistake. The best part about this whole exchange is that it seems to validate TB even more as a public utility and provide another example at the depths of stupidity and deliberate deceit so many assholes are willing to stoop to in order to sabatoge someone else. If reading this blog reaffirms anything it is to be reasonably skeptical of the outlandish claims a large number of people are willing to traffic in.

    Email sent:

    Dearest Bridget

Recently read you wanting emails on reasons why I may “self censor” myself of giving opinions due to fear or angst of offending others. Me personally I don’t. I could care less about hurt feelings of todays cupcakes. Best example I can give you is a website called Turtleboy Sports in Massachusetts, the emotional soft serve state of the Atlantic seaboard. TBS reports on a variety of social justice stories, none of which have any basis in fact by the aggrieved parties. Everything from GoFundMe scams, handicap parking scofflaws, corruption in the Mass state police and many more. In response to expressing their free speech rights they are called racist and every other “ist” imaginable. To their credit they carry on. Wish more media outlets existed like them, it gives us comfort and strength.

      Reply from Bridget

“They obviously have a very very loyal fan base as I’ve been receiving hundreds of messages from Turtleriders. That much is clear! Thank you for reaching out”.

Hopefully it far outnumbers the trolls. Thanks to you its working! Wait someone else uses that line…
